But stumbled upon this place after getting taken for a ride for buying these infamous shortbread cookies, another long story, another review next time. Happy is very professional and proud of the fabrics, everything as their name suggests, is custom. Of course Herman would know, judging fr his suits too lol. Visited on a Tuesday and went back on Wednesday for first fitting and then final fitting on Friday with chance for one more adjustment to pick up before we head out on Saturday. One quick train stop away from admiralty train station downtown and had a great time hanging out and becoming friends with everyone there. Highly recommended no pressure and learned a lot about fabrics, fit, and custom tailoring.

I've come to that age in life where all my friends are starting to get married. It's like the opposite of the movie Wedding Crashers, where they have fun crashing weddings the day wedding season starts. I, on the other hand, feel the pressure of being in a relationship and unmarried. What I meant to say was I'm so happy for my friends... yea. Anyway, wedding season means suits, and a couple of them. Maybe it's just me but I'm never comfortable with people trying to sell me something, even if I want it! So being asked to enter every second tailor I pass makes me suspicious. I was going to enter, but then you asked me to enter and said you'd give me a discount. Oh boy, that makes me suspicious. I'm going to get a suit, but only from some one that doesn't want to sell it to me. The human psyche at its most moronic. Maybe it's just me. Luckily enough, while I was still a student, I happened to meet a lovely young lady whose family runs a tailoring shop. She never asked me to visit, or offered a discount which made me extremely eager to see the place. Remy Fashions is a small shop run by a man named Gary. He's obviously good at what he does because he sized me up the moment I stepped in the door. With an easy smile and measuring tape he confirmed my dimensions, and from there explained to me the different materials available, which ones for which climates, why I should have two buttons instead of three. Fashion things that I had no clue about. Two days later I returned for the first fitting. Gary wasn't there but his son was. The man was just as professional but slightly more convincing when it came to fashion tips, I suppose because his age was not far from mine! Another two days and I was able to pick up the final master piece, for a master piece it was, and still is. It's easy to feel like a VIP while being measured from head to toe for a suit that will only look good on you and Remy Fashions do it with precision and perfection. Since then I've returned to have another suit made... for another wedding... not mine.

Gap brings a tinge of familiarity and sizes (#1) for the tourist crowd, which is how I found myself here in the first place. The store is actually pretty big, which is not an easy feat in a place like HK. The seasonal selection has a lot for men and women and to some extent, kids. (#2) Each area is fairly clean and the layout is easy to decipher all sections. The accessories (sunglasses, neckwear especially) is a bit limited, but I imagine most people aren't coming to Gap to for this. Like many big chains in this part of the world, the store is overstaffed with a lot of employees running around in search of something to do. The last two times I came here I was rang up by a girl named Ringtone. (#3) The best part is she thought MY name was strange. This alone makes me want to come back. Another thing to note: While most Gap stores will take in anything from other Gap stores as return items, it is subject to manager approval for international locations. I've used this bag now for a couple of years but have since been back to by accessories for the bag like a collapsible umbrella that fits nicely into the side pocket etc... On a return trip to Hong Kong I brought my bag back because my engraved initials fell off and they fixed it on the spot for free... now that's service. And to top it off, they thanks me for being a loyal customer! Now that is service and the right kind of attitude, don't you agree?
