Cathy, the receptionist, is always on top of her game. I've had her process both Canadian and American insurance forms. There's always ample free parking in the lot surrounding the office, housed in a converted cottage of sorts -- makes for a much less intimidating experience. Coming from Vancouver, I find it easier to drive out here than, say, downtown. I'm usually worked on by Faye, a virtuosic periodontal maven who specializes in all gum-related wizardry and wields an arsenal of gadgets and metal tools... She's incredibly detailed and conscientious in ferreting out all the gunk that shouldn't be there. Between Faye and Dr. Sayson, I trust their assessments and recommendations, because I feel they balance unattainable ideals with (my) practicalities and plenty of common sense --- for what's best for me and my teeth. Sure, I don't floss as often as I should. And I probably don't visit my dentist as often as I should. But whenever I do visit, it's an appointment I not only *don't* dread, but even *almost* look forward to! Besides, being located just beyond the busy commercial hubbub of No. 3 Road, what better excuse to treat yo'self to a bout of delicious dim sum afterward? Anyway, I usually don't gush about such things if it's not a perfect xiaolongbao, but hey -- in order keep eating, I need to keep my teeth! (And so do you.)

I was…read morereferred by my Dad and they just so happen to also be a participant in my post-secondary institution's dental network to give lower rates to students: bonus! The desk staff are wonderful, always very helpful in not only booking appointments but helping you calculate cost and not only ensuring the insurance companies cover what they claim to cover but contacting them on your behalf to sort out all of the paperwork related to the work you're having done. The hygenist staff are all really sweet and helpful in educating you about what you can continue to do at home without sounding condescending and without lecturing you (like most other places do). They're also all very good at what they do. What I mean by that is, I have sesative teeth and have had horrible experiences elsewhere where people have basically ripped into my gums with floss. But not here. They clean your teeth well and they do it gently, all the while checking in with you to ensure you're comfortable. And at the end you get the goods: new tooth brush (I ask for extra-soft's because they're so difficult to find in stores), mini-tooth paste (like Colgate Total or Colgate Sensative Pro-Relief), floss and even lip-balm occasionally! The dentists (Dr. Yu and Dr. Hutchinson) are great and straight to the point about how your teeth are doing, again, without the condescending/lectural stuff you might get at most other places. They also bring in a oral surgeon when needed who is absolutely fantastic! I had a consult on having my wisdom teeth out last year and Dr. Yang went through every step of what needed to be done, the options I had in terms of sedation, and what he recommended as well as what would be the cheapest option (which happened to coincide with his highest recommendation). When I decided on what path to take he went through all of the aftercare and sedation-related information and addressed all of my concerns regarding the procedure. The surgery went great, I don't remember a thing. I had minimal pain afterward and about 4 days into healing I had some concerns regarding the swelling so I called the office for advise. Dr. Yu told me what to do and even called around to get a second opinion for me! But they went totally above and beyond when both Dr. Yang and Dr. Yu gave me their cell-phone numbers in case I had any questions/concerns after office hours! Everyone who works here is completely dedicated to giving the best patient care possible while maintaining a stress-free environment. In addition they stay open into the early evening so you can go after work as well as on Saturdays. How cool is that? Please note however that they are *not* wheelchair accessable because they are upstairs in a building that unfortunately does not have an elevator.

Fantastic, professional, and friendly staff. As soon as you walk in it feels like a nice home…read more Referred the rest of my family and then extended family and everyone loves this place. The hygienist brought me to the chair inside, then she pointed at the seat at the corner and said, 'purse'. She could have just told me politely. Would she have done that if I were male and 60? She seemed crass and uneducated. Then the dentist came in and asked me where I lived and I told them. Then the hygienist sneered and said condescendingly, "I thought you wrote down the x street". There was nothing funny about my writing because it was clear. When the hygienist brought me to the x-ray area, she lowered the machine so I needed to slouch. Then she demanded, "Stand straight" and she pressed down my shoulders with her hands. It was inappropriate. She should adjust the machine to fit the patient and not the other way around. It was difficult to stand straight because she lowered the machine. Furthermore, she did not tell me that the x-ray machine would revolve and it hit my head. She laughed and said, "Sorry, I forgot to tell you." This could have been prevented if she was competent. Also, the hygienist interrupted us when the dentist was speaking, and the hygienist touched my face and chin unnecessarily many times (e.g. closing my mouth after she put the tube into my mouth but she could have simply told me to close my mouth). The hygienist and the dentist both touched my hair and hit the chair many times as well needlessly. If they were skillful, they would not touch my hair. It is common sense to warn someone before you touch them, especially when you are a professional. Moreover, it was a loud place and I was not sure if they were talking to each other or talking to me. The receptionists were not friendly. After seeing the dentist, she told me to see the receptionist for the receipt. When I went to the receptionist, she looked irritated and said, "The receipt is still printing." She acted as though I was rushing her but I did not say anything. She threw the bag of samples on the counter reluctantly for me with a condescending attitude. The receptionist made us wait for the receipt by chatting with the other receptionist and said that the paper got stuck. Their attitudes were unprofessional; they looked like they were the dentist's aunts who were employed simply due to their relation. The dentist asked if I grind my teeth when I sleep, and I said no. Then she and the hygienist said, "I can see that you have grinding teeth;" "Yeah, yeah;" "Yes, yes" without showing me. Without offering advice or providing any value, it was clear that they just wanted me to listen to them. In addition, the dentist hastily put the fluoride on my teeth and left tons of residue on my teeth and lips, and I noticed this only after I departed. The dentist did not put the fluoride on all of my teeth; it was very quick. Also, she told me that I could eat right away. That was unusual; usually, we need to wait for at least 15 minutes for the fluoride to work. There were minimal blood stains on the edge of my lips as well. They should have ensured that the patient appeared fine prior to the patient's departure. No dentist would do that if they cared about the patient. They were very careless and unprofessional, and I doubted that the hygienist was licensed. P.S. The dental clinic is inside the medical clinic. New patients would not know where the dental clinic is. The receptionists of the medical clinic should ask the patients if they are there to see the dentist when they first arrive. The receptionist of the medical clinic had wasted our time by asking for our information first and thus made us late for our dental appointment. When I went to the counter of the dental clinic, the receptionist of the dental clinic put the form on the counter and assumed that it was for me without asking for my name. That was rude. I noticed that there were still some stains on my teeth after the cleaning. They made me want to visit another dentist immediately.

The way he treated me was unprofessional, and straight up rude. Here is how my appointment went; I was ready in my seat, excited to get my teeth cleaned (as I do like going to the dentist). He introduces himself and asks a little about my transition from braces to now and gets down to checking my teeth. He doesn't ask how I am, or how my spring break is going, or what I'm currently doing in life. I was just another person he could feed money off of. He then makes me hold a mirror in front of my face, and shines the light at my teeth, telling me that I'm brushing my teeth wrong, and that I should be flossing everyday. I listen carefully, as I do not want to be a rude patient. (Keep in mind, I brush my teeth twice a day, and floss everyday, so I'd assume that my teeth are actually pretty clean.) I listen to him, telling me that I'm supposed to floss, making eye contact and nodding, and he seems to be getting more agitated with me (I still have no idea why he was so angry). He then speaks to me in an annoyed voice as if I'm a child and says "Do you want me to clean your teeth or not?" Keep in mind this man is around his early 50's, and is speaking to me like some moody teenager. I then am astonished by his poor attitude and ask him, "Is this not your job? Are you not supposed to clean my teeth?" He then retorts to, "And it's also your job to keep YOUR teeth clean." As I'm very responsible with my teeth hygiene I believe this to be true. By this point, I'm fed up with his behavior and looking straight ahead. He then continues on to "clean" my teeth. Everyone knows the feeling after an appointment, the sore gums from picking, the teeth feeling spick and span... I did NOT feel any of this. I felt like I had just brushed my teeth. This appointment took a mere 20 minutes. How is that possible?! At my other dentist, an appointment like this would take at least 45 minutes. He seemed rather angry at me, and didn't want to actually clean my teeth, so he rushed and kicked me out of there. I am so upset by what has happened during this appointment, I will not be going again. Not only is his attitude poor, but so is his quality of work. I DO NOT recommend going to him, as he has unsatisfactory results.

He said we need to do a root canal now. So I made an appointment but I missed it due to a family emergency. So after taking the Antibiotic for a week, the pain came back after a month and I made an appointment to see him. I walked in the clinic, from his secretary to dental hygienist and the dentist himself were after me for missing the appointment and dr yu clearly said "I am not lecturing you but as business person I lost the sale and had to pay my staff. You should have given us 24 hr notice to cancel so I could have used that time and I lost so much money because of you guys....and you got the estimate for your daughters Invisalign and never got them done". We have been going to this dentist since 2002, we don't have any dental insurance and we have to pay each time from my pocket. For my daughter I paid whatever the consultation was but he quoted an amount that I couldn't afford at that moment so we never anything done from him or any others dentist. For my husband he said it will be cheaper if you just get filling done for now but you need a root canal as it would be cheaper to just have the filling done. He charged me 380 dollars and for root canal it would only be another 300. He didn't give me any price point if though I asked him twice. And now the pain I had gone through for about 2 weeks and now again I am in pain or a week. Who is accountable for the pain I am going through. He just cares for money that's it. He is just a business man not a dentist.
