Dr. Ludwig saved me from having arthritic knees at 33. Insurance paid for everything (except the co-pay naturally), so I'm guessing that the reviewer that gave this Dr. a "1" rating didn't have insurance and didn't bother to do any exercises that Dr. Ludwig gave and then wondered why she never got better. Heat, massage and ultrasound technologies were used, as was taping my knee. Low-tech isn't inherently bad!

WOW AMAZING! GREAT!…read more I have heard good and bad stories about different places for Physical Therapy. (I have a torn PCL and MCL problems, and needed a place to go!) I looked at other places people recommended, but MGH was right next door to work - so I hoped I could go there (for convenience as well as reputation) Once I confirmed with my insurance I could, and scheduled up a few appointments, I started on my way BACK to a strong leg and knee! Asyou walk in, you see all the framed jerseys from Athletes, from David Ortiz to Ray Bourque and more... Yes, a lot of Boston Pro athletes (and pro athletes form elsewhere) go here, so you know it MUST be top notch. The equipment and facilities are top notch, as you would expect, from the locker room with showers, to the machines and therapeutic equipment. My therapist, Kailin, is GREAT. She has the patience to deal with a difficult and stubborn patient like me (yes, I said it, and will admit it!), and the knowledge and experience to help me out. I have pushed aside my imaginary knowledge, stubbornness and desire to do things my way and put myself in her hands 100%, and could not be happier. So far after a month, I can tell positive change, and as long as I keep listening to her versus ignoring her, I have no problem I will keep improving! The other staff around has always been helpful (they are busy, so people help out on some things), and they have always been accommodating on every aspect. I ave never been afraid to ask another therapist a question or for something if Kailin was not in the immediate vicinity. The front desk staff of Vicki and Harry is also top notch. Very helpful, friendly, and work to help you get in when you can versus the entitled nature you find at some offices. (in other words, they put you, the patient first all the time) Understand before you go, MGH is BIG. You have to register with the hospital, get your MGH ID card/number, and it might take an extra week or two to get an appointment. But in my case, where i suffered a traumatic injury nd had to heal, I would RATHER go to teh best, instead of the quickest. I hope you never have an injury or a need to go here, but if you do, and you need PT for a joint or tendon (or anything), then This IS THE place to go in Boston... who knows, you may find yourself on a table next to one of Bostons finest athletes.. sharing in the best PT and rehab in the city!

Joe Bernardo worked miracles on a shoulder with 2 rotator cuff tears and a ruptured bicep tendon. I opted not to have surgery, which I understood was not always successful and spent 4 months in PT with Joe. The treatment plan was always specific to my current range of motion, pain level and the activity level I wanted to achieve. We diligently worked through all of the functionality. I cannot say enough about how responsive and respectful Joe was at every session and I am over the moon with the result. I also want to say that all of the support staff was terrific and I was welcomed with open arms every time I arrived.

Most recently, I worked with Chris and the team on some knee pain I was experiencing during runs. The thoroughness with which my situation was diagnosed was highly impressive. He put together a recovery plan to get me back out on the road for runs with a comprehensive sequence of stretching, massaging, strengthening, and form correction. I have so many tools in my tool belt now to prevent relapse into a similar situation and I have Chris and the team to thank! Everyone I interacted with in the practice is top notch - from the front desk staff to the PTs to the assistants. They really take the time to get to know you and always checked in with me to see how my family members who had finished their treatment were doing. I highly recommend working with them!

After a MRI, the orthopedist…read morerattled off my laundry list of injuries via phone, which sounded like a foreign language to me. Wanting to go to my appointment prepared, I brought Kayce to help me understand what all my issues and options were. Kayce helped me understand everything I had wrong and even advocated for me to get a more functional knee brace since I was going to be in it for the long run. Fast forward a month and COVID-19 hit, preventing me from participating in onsite pre-hab. Kayce ended up coming to my house regularly and treating my knee in my garage where we could leave the garage doors open for proper airflow while both armed with PPE. This allowed me to receive imperative treatment in a time I otherwise couldn't have. Post surgery, Kayce came to my rescue yet again. My bandages were wrapped so tight that I lost all the feeling in my foot. Kayce came over at the drop of a dime to rewrap my leg and inspect my incisions. Kayce possesses a vast knowledge of physical therapy techniques that has allowed me to successfully commence my healing journey during these unprecedented times. Without her support and treatment this year, I don't know what I would have done. I would highly recommend Kayce's care and compassion to anyone.
