We've lived hear for almost 5 years now. Every once in a while we'll look at other apartments…read morearound the strip or downtown area, and this is what we find: The other complexes in the Strip District like The Yards at Three Crossings and Edge 1909 have more amenities, such as a bigger pool and grill area, but they are more expensive for even a smaller apartment. Honestly, you are going to spend more time in your apartment than in the pool, so give me a bigger apartment then. The comparable apartments in downtown, (such as River Vue) are more expensive and not as nice (cheap appliances), because you are paying to live downtown. Anything significantly less expensive and you are crossing a bridge and fighting traffic every morning. Lot 24 is a non-smoking building. We've had some obnoxious neighbors in the past smoking on their balconies which they are not supposed to do, and the occasional frat-party, but it has been rare. The building is pretty quiet most of the time. It's very pet friendly. There's even a big grassy area across the street for your dog to go, complete with cleanup stations. There's a decent gym that you get free access to, and covered parking at an extra charge (worth it). Overall no complaints!

While the housing and renting market in Pittsburgh continues to grow, there are a multitude of…read moreliving options available in many different areas. It can be overwhelming if you are looking for a place! Upon my move to Pittsburgh in 2015 I found myself falling head-over-heels in love with the Strip District. After living on the North Shore for a year, I knew a move was soon underway. There was no other neighborhood that captured my attention as much as the Strip did. When I learned about the abundant housing options scattered along the far end of Penn Avenue, I started searching for my perfect landing pad. Here is what I learned along the way: choosing to live in Lot 24 goes much farther than choosing an apartment because of its' cost and availability. For me, living in Lot 24 means choosing to live in a place that perfectly accentuates my lifestyle and personality: a young professional who enjoys accessibility to the outdoors and the convince of downtown at the same time, while embracing the charm and history of a unique neighborhood. Lot 24 offers a comfortable lifestyle without pushing you too far out of your comfort zone. While our properly manager is more than helpful, maintenance is on point, the doormen become your friends, and the grounds are spotless, the time you spend living at Lot 24 is what you make of it. The most appealing aspect of Lot 24 to me is the location. Situated on Railroad Street, the small complex is hugged by Penn Avenue on one side and the Allegheny River on the other. Walk down the street and enjoy life by the water. Or, turn a corner and bask in the rush of the Strip as produce is sold, coffee is roasted, giant sandwiches are made, and as history is preserved in one of the Steel City's most iconic neighborhoods. Some of my favorite features at Lot 24 include our small but cozy balcony, modern appliances, an exclusive gym next door and, a gorgeous community room and courtyard. Take a walk down Railroad Street and it will feel as though you are stepping through a cleaned up version of industrial Pittsburgh. A railroad track winds its way though the pavement, a stagnant black train stands still a little ways down, and every Sunday you will hear the whistle of a running engine as it travels through Pittsburgh carrying who-knows-what. Walk a mile in the other direction and find yourself in downtown Pittsburgh where the bar and restaurant scene is striving. Beyond that, the apartment sits on a common bus line and is close to other neighborhoods including hip Lawrenceville, the historic North Side, quirky Polish Hill, and more. The community here is strong and full of young professionals starting careers, folks starting families, and older folks winding down. Dogs running down the hall, babies being pushed in strollers, back-yard style grill outs, and happy hour events are common sightings at Lot 24. There is a lot to embrace and Lot 24 provides the perfect environment to enjoy all that Pittsburgh has to offer. When I wake up in the morning and take that first look out my window, I see more than a living place. I see an investment in a neighborhood that has come a long way. I see an opportunity to support small-business owners who are doing what they love. I see the skyline of a city that has given so much back to its natives and transplants alike and I am reminded that while I could live anywhere, I choose to live in Pittsburgh on purpose. Xoxo, A

I moved in during the summer after a long search and can say I am extremely happy with the…read moreapartment. I now have about 6 months of experience in this building - and only have positive things about the experience. The move in process was a breeze, working with Courtney from the front office was amazing - made sure we had everything we needed to move in smoothly. After moving in, things were still great - there is laundry on every floor, common spaces are always clean and welcoming, and packages are kept safely in the mail room (you get an email when packages arrive). The gym and office room have the basic necessities. If there there is a maintenance issue, the management team is quick to resolve it and notify you when the work order is complete. The finishes inside the apartment are all new, and the heating/cooling system works great. The one downside is that there is construction happening right outside my window in the mornings/afternoons. It also means I lost my view since the neighboring building now is taller than my floor :( Overall, I am quite happy with the apartment and recommend it!

Almost $2k for a view of the other building, no in-unit washer/dryer, and older appliances compared to the other buildings in the complex? No thank you. There are plenty of other buildings that will give you more bang for your buck or if you are ok with this price range, there are other buildings in East Liberty that are better quality. The management office also feels that it isn't an invasion of privacy to schedule tours for prospective residents for the exact unit you want WHILE you are living there as soon as you mention you're moving out. So unprofessional. You get 24 hours notice before a tour. Why give notice at all if you're just going to show up anyway? I've never seen this done in other buildings I've lived in before. It makes the vibe more business-like than actually living in a community. All they care about is your money. I really do like Walnut Capital overall, but the Walnut on Highland property itself is overpriced and unprofessional in their policies and communication with residents.

May the storage area in the basement was flooded with significant damage to my items and other residents. June there were electrical issues with entry into the building. July 5th, there were electrical issues for entry/exit to the garage that is an additional $175/month. July 7th there was another flood. Living in Aria has been one of the most positive influential experiences in my transition to…read morePittsburgh! I moved here from Chicago a year ago and was nervous about Pittsburgh's ability to "keep up" with my Chicago lifestyle. Living at Aria in the Cultural District was the best decision I made because it has showed me just how cool this city is. The building is a historic landmark and one of the most beautiful lofts I have ever had the privilege of living in. My fiance and I frequently comment that the exposed rafters and brick walls, high beam ceilings, state of the art kitchen and in unit washer/dryer make it a treat to come home to from our everyday stressful lives. The view of the Highmark building and industrial Pittsburgh architecture feel like I'm living in an urban happening city just like when back in Chicago. The building amenities and units are also very well maintained and are given immediate attention if so much as the refrigerator filter needs a replacement. I'm talking 24 hour turn around time! Not only are we lucky to be located in the up-and-coming Cultural District within walking distance of some of the best restaurants, theaters, sports arenas and music venues in Pittsburgh, the management team is phenomenal!! Kristen and Jeff are a great team and encompass the perfect blend for basically any personality that walks into the building. They are both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuine while still providing a sense of being "on top of it" that exudes the perfect standard of professionalism. I feel so well taken care of and, it is a luxury to know that if there is ever a problem or concern it is given immediate attention. Jeff is a wonderful resident manager! He is always working with us guests to improve the building experience! He is so open minded when it comes to suggestions and is always thinking of new and innovative ways to take this building to the next level. His and Kristen's standards are high and their ambition to make Aria the best is noticed. It's an honor to be a part of that growth! I see Jeff also going above and beyond the call of duty with quick response time and genuine effort to ensure our comfort! He is someone the residents can rely on and represents the famous Pittsburgh work ethic that gives the building a reputation filled with integrity. Kristen in particular has been a genius addition to their staff. There is no one that knows both the underground and mainstream scene here in Pittsburgh better than the building manager, Kristen Presutti! She is incredibly integrated in the Pittsburgh community and always has great suggestions about what's going on every day (or night) and where the hot spots are. She goes the extra mile to make sure her guests are "in the know" and feel just as connected to this city as she does! I truly feel you can add concierge to amenities offered in the building because of how above and beyond the call of duty Kristen goes to research any questions we have about just about anything! She is firm and professional but always treats every guest as if they are family. I have heard from many of my fellow residents how Kristen's amazing listening skills make her someone they can trust and count on during stressful times. Her people skills and ability to connect with a plethora of vast and diverse personalities is a rare gift. There is a huge community of residents here that frequently talk about how pampered and lucky the building is to have such a genuine administrator that actually really cares about each and every one of us. I also love that I can text and call Kristen with any concerns and she is incredibly prompt to take care of things and make things happen. Even when she has to be firm and give us bad news, she is always classy and respectful about how she conveys the news to us. This is also just what we, residents, see and doesn't even give us a glimpse into what is going on behind the scenes with additional admin tasks her job description demands. To be able to balance the two worlds without residents noticing shows just how truly professional and skilled Kristen is! I truly believe in the culture and experience the Aria building, team members, and community has cultivated! Hats off to your brilliant duo management team because they took this gem of a building to the next level and turned it into what I am convinced is a rare and valuable find in the heart of Pittsburgh!

Don't get me wrong, they are popular because of their prime location, but their service really really sucks. 1) There is no AC in the apartment, so you have to buy your own. Summer is very humid and hot here in Pittsburgh. 2) The garbage area always smells so bad. Garbage is always overflowing. 3) Packages are left in the lobby, it will get lost, your risks to take. 4) The building is basically full of college students, expect to have loud music and party noises during weekend. 5) Rent increases every single year, from the initial 850 to now some ridiculous amount which you have to find out on your own. 6) Hidden fees that they will never tell you when you sign the lease. You have to pay $150 to take your name of the lease? Ridiculous. I would not live in Fifth and Neville ever again... I feel bad for the managers though, they came and left every year. You will get a new manager every year, it shows how much Amore "cares" about their customer service. I didn't want to write a review earlier, but Fifth and Neville kept sending me an email reminding to share my experience with it. So there you go. You are welcome.

PROS: 1) The building is well maintained with staff who work to keep it that way daily. 2) There is an onsite gym (though it's small) so you don't have to pay for a gym membership. 3) Apartments come with central air, dishwashers, disposals, wall to wall carpet and laundry. 4) Both garage and lot parking are available ($100 for garage, $50 for lot). CONS: 1) Since it's run by a big management company, you'll never be able to negotiate anything -- rent increase, parking charges, length of lease, breaking lease, etc. Everything is set in stone and management won't discuss changing it. 2) If you like to hear every single thing your neighbors are doing -- and I do mean EVERYTHING -- this is the place for you. In my 2 years I've heard the following: Phone conversations Sex Sneezing and coughing Music and TV Incessant walking and stomping from upstairs neighbors (in heels at 630am every day, no less) Appliances that shake your apartment (seriously, they shake so loud and so hard it feels like there's an earthquake happening) Kitchen cabinets opening and closing Putting away silverware Dogs barking Etc. As you can probably tell, the walls/floors/ceilings are THIN. We're talking paper here. If you're a light sleeper or you just like to have peace and quiet in your home, you won't find that here. 3) It's very close to the train tracks, so you'll hear them going by at all hours of the night and day. 4) As Pittsburgh rent goes, it's not cheap. You do get a decent amount of amenities and it's in the nice section of Shadyside (walkable to Walnut), but it's pricey. Overall my experience here was fine. Nice unit, fairly nice landlord, but definitely too much noise from neighboring apartments to make it five stars.
