On our first night in Ravenna we stayed at the bar until about 2.30 am and they just closed around us. Very relaxed atmosphere. They don't really do food. There is a kind of free buffet and some very nice desserts but it is definitely more somewhere to relax in the evening with a bottle of Prosecco.

I ordered the Ravioli di ricotta e spinaci con burro e salvia (ravioli filled with ricotta cheese, spinach, butter and sage), along with a glass of house white wine. It's one of my favorite dishes from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The ravioli was so tender, perfectly cooked. My husband had the Carpaccio di bresaola con rucola e grana (beef carpaccio with arugula and parmesan). It was a beautiful display of food. He enjoyed it along with his beer. This was a perfect spot for lunch in a lovely setting.

No stress, they brought their homework so they killed time studying in the peace and quiet of this place. When we came in a group of 8 left, our friends told us they had also been sitting there for half an hour. We took their table, because they finally helped us. We ordered a drink, just a drink, but after another 20 minutes we went away. We cancelled our order, offcourse, because we have manners, and the waitress just shrugged and said "ok". Well, alright. Caffe Letterario was a place we found walking from the train station into the city of Ravenna. This city is so beautiful and to get my morning started, I came to have my usual cafe and pastry. This was the perfect location to hit up on your way into the city to see Dante's tomb or to look at all of the beautiful mosaics in this town. Even the street signs are in a different mosaic on each sign. If I had time, I would have stayed to have my meal but I was in a rush to see all of the views. Normally Italians do not take their foods on the go. But I did notice that they did have small shot glass size disposable cups here for your espresso and a slightly larger one for your to go cappuccino. I love the small town vibes here. Def a place that I will return to.
