There was no one in the reception area when we arrived so we were just browsing their pretty inventory. Then finally two older ladies came out of the back area- I announced my presence with a "hello" since I was browsing their aisles of flowers and tropical plants and did not want to startle them. They were both not very friendly and I immediately felt uncomfortable like I was interrupting them. I proceeded to ask her about bushes and one of the women acted like she didn't understand a word that I said while the other one just completely walked away. (I am a GenX Japanese American north side Chicagoan and my partner is a biracial black and white north side Chicagoan as well) she was extremely snotty and rude to me like she didn't understand what I was asking her so I took her outside to speak with my partner because I was already visibly upset-so then I asked her "are you Mary? " she's like "No Mary is inside." So Mary was the other rude lady peeking out the door. I'm like thanks but no thanks. Let's go. I asked my partner in the car if it was just me and he said "no these women are rude." So as a small business minority woman myself-who runs her own small business in the city of Chicago - I WILL NEVER GO BACK there it's was not a pleasant experience shop there at your own risk.

This is my first visit to Mary's and they've got some great flowers here! Lots of options I haven't seen shopping around the last few years at other places. We got some begonias that are stunning and holding up fantastic so far. We picked up a tropical bush as well, which Mary herself did advise me would likely not survive the winter. She did give me some advice on how to winterize it if I want to try and bring it inside, she seems knowledgeable and it's pretty cool that she offers plants like these. I always grab some veggies and herbs as well and she delivered on that with a few different herbs I'm excited to try. Boxwood basil is new to me but that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. I do wish she had more variety of veggies available, I might have missed the boat on that. I did get a nice heirloom tomato plant, she had these in a back lot. It's a bit hard to get navigate back there and it's not a flat path so be prepared. To sum up, this is a smaller operation than some local competitors but that plant enthusiast charm goes a long way. I'd definitely recommend it for flowers, they've also got lots of cute outdoor decorations. It's a great spot to find something unique too! It COULD use some layout improvements and I found some things unlabeled as I was perusing. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out for either a seasoned gardener or a first timer!

This garden…read morecenter is a little off the beaten path, is a little smaller than some of the other local centers but they did have many unusual plants and colorful blooms. I thought the interior of the store was really unique and eye-catching. I'm not into dragons yet how cool would it be to have that enormous dragon in my yard, with its eyes lit up to protect our "garden". I say "garden" because upon moving to our property, it's pretty much a blank slate, with blank being the operative word. Hardscape comes first and the plants will follow. Until then, bumpkin!

I ended up buying several beautiful flowers for my front yard, all of which have been planted and going strong still. The greenhouses seem to go on forever! I stopped in @ Chalet Nursery for a brief look as spring is here. What I found is a very nice nursery w/an assortment of items needed to do spring planting, landscaping materials & an assortment of seeds, plants, planters, gardening tools & fertilizers.... Basically almost anything you need to start or enhance a garden. They also have an area on the north end where they have a glass enclosed area. Unfortunately I really didn't have a lot of time to shop as I was on my way to pick up my older sister but would like to come back sometime when I have a little more time to peruse the items in the store

Then, Cory had a vision, a "zen garden" for the side of our yard, which my husband thought was brilliant. Together they came up with a plan that totally changed an unused muddy spot to a magnificent walkway with new bushes and personality. Daniel and Alberto made sure that everything was perfect when they put down the stones and did the new plantings. Cory then suggested we add lights, which we then did. KUDOS to Cory for her creativity and enthusiasm. She is wonderful to work with and you can see how much she enjoys what she does. We are enjoying our yard even more, and now keep the side window open so that we can look at our new walkway. THANK YOU CORY.

We love their tomatoes and Horchers offers less than pristine tomatoes at a reduced price. They are perfect for making tomato sauce for pasta. We also love their pristine tomatoes, beets, and peppers. Everything we get here is fresh and we know exactly where it was grown. Horchers gives you the 'Farmers Market' experience all week long!

My wife and I are senior citizens and we stopped by Rolling Hills Nursery last week to look at some…read moreshrubs for our 35-year-old house in Buffalo Grove. The owner, Bill, showed us around and we immediately liked one of the larger bushes and some smaller plants to surround the bush. He had a spot in his schedule to install everything in 2 days. They planted everything yesterday and they look great. Not just great, amazing! There is an art to planting shrubs and mounding up the soil. It looks better than I ever imagined, like they were decorating a castle. Very professional. Everyone was courteous and the job they did was top notch. First class all the way. Oh, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend Rolling Hills Nursery.

Their minimum delivery/planting charge is now $600, I was told. Bill did the job for $456 complete, and did a terrific job. And his is a family business. So glad I did that internet search and found Bill.
