Upon my arrival at the laboratory, I sought clarification from a technician regarding the estimated waiting period. Her response to my inquiry was notably unprofessional and dismissive and said "can you read or count." With a nasty attitude. Despite this initial interaction, I proceeded with the registration process. However, the technician subsequently exhibited further unprofessional conduct. She directed disapproving glances and visibly rolled her eyes towards both myself and my father, who was present with me. This sequence of events created a highly uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. I felt profoundly uneasy and lacked confidence in the technician's professional demeanor, particularly given the impression that my presence was an inconvenience to her. As a direct result of these interactions, I determined that I could not proceed with the blood draw under those circumstances. Please be advised that the necessary laboratory tests still need to be performed, and I will be going to the Everett hospital to ensure their completion.

Instead of just getting a paper bill and a link to a payment site you get these sketchy robo-calls constantly. When I try to pay my son's bills on MyChart they're not visible and their explanation of it is nonsense. I've twice now had collections agencies call looking for my infant son after I had already called CHA, paid a balance and then found out CHA gave me the wrong balance and sent the $30 difference to collections. The speed at which these chuds are comfortable trying to ruin someone's credit over couch change is incredible. We also had an incident where my son had to get bloodwork, and the lab claimed he wasn't registered. He'd been a patient there for a year already but I had to sit there with a cranky 1 year old for a half an hour while it got sorted out.

I was left sitting in a crowded hallway for three hours, surrounded by other patients, feeling neglected and anxious. Despite my well-documented disability, they denied me the standard care and reasonable accommodations I clearly needed. This lack of attention and care compelled me to file a formal complaint with the hospital administration. After months of back-and-forth communication and following up on my complaint, I was shocked to receive notice that I had been sent to collections for an appointment that was essentially useless. This hospital, which used to be known for its excellent patient care, has fallen into decline. The actions of the Governor, allowing the hospital to reduce staff significantly, have led to a system that feels more like a scam. Now, patients are met with overworked and rude nurses, and the limited availability of medical staff means only one doctor is on duty as a supervisor. The overall experience has been incredibly frustrating and disheartening, leaving me feeling abandoned when I needed care the most.

Made us feel like a doctor with a soul who cares for their patients. Except the front desk staff were impatient! Then, I went to the main hospital on Mt. Auburn....front office, excellent. Administration staff, who record(ed) first-time visit to the hospital, wonderful too! Personable! Oh! The woman who did my blood work --Horrendous! She persistently dismissed my being combatively (and I hate to say this about a Black given the racial connotations loaded onto us), but she showed complete disregard for me and cut me off when I tried to speak. She was thoroughly dismissive of what I said, even when she pretended she wanted to apologize (to protect her job). I tried to explain to her that I wanted to prepare her for my squeamish behavior when getting shots so she didn't feel daunted by a grown woman screaming over shots . I also tried explaining that I always try to create a safe space with new social interactions. I also get excited when I meet another black woman like me in practices where they are very rare --particularly true where I live! Plus, considering that black women's health is statistically underprioritized and mostly neglected, having a black medic attend to me boosts my hopes of "being seen, heard, and attended to with courtesy"; how wrong! This woman/lab tech was awful! She focused on reminding me she's been doing this work for umpteen years, and nobody has ever complained about her, "I'm very nice." I tried to explain to her, as a teacher, kids are not all the same, and I do not treat kids the same." Oh! She decided to explain my profession to me, like she knows it better, "That's a classroom. It's different...kids are not going anywhere..." Anyway, nothing was left for me but to tell her, "Have a great day!"

Had an absolutely horrible birthing experience here in 2013. Something I can never live with…read morepeacefully. They are not an all natural birthing center, they heavily push vaccines while pregnant and groom you to come to terms that you will most likely end up in the hospital giving birth. I ended up in the hospital after a small leak (not a water break, the leak stopped immediately). Was given cytotek and then was given pitocen when labor did not start within 48 hours of my leak. After two days of induced labor a nurse exclaimed that my water had not even broken yet. It was absolutely a terrible experience and the bedside manner of the staff was even more terrible. After my eventual birth (leak on Thursday, birth on Monday- 5 days, ended in cesarean) my midwife (Kat) told me, and I quote, "most of the midwives that work here end up giving birth in the hospital." I also want to add that I was on fluids for 4 days while being induced. My son was obviously born with extra fluid on him, and subsequently lost it the day after he was born. Because of the weight difference, I was forced by the staff to give him formula while I was waiting for my milk to come in (it came in in the normal two days). Do NOT go here. There are better options out there. I had a vback at MgH of all places and the natural experience there was a completely different, amazing experience.

My partner had an experience so awful that I cannot wait until I can switch my Health Insurance…read morecoverage. My partner is experiencing pain from a tooth that needs a root canal. He had received a filling earlier today and unfortunately, the dental student did not secure a prescription for pain medication due to thinking a filling would solve the issue. Since he was seen by a dental student and due to the day/time they were unable to have an overseeing dentist prescribe him pain medication. He decided to call HUHS to see whether his PCP or his staff could help him with medication until a root canal on Monday. After speaking with someone on the phone, the person said they did not know what to do for him, but they said he could come down if he was close by and wanted to discuss it with a Nurse Practitioner. He went in person and ultimately nothing could be done because his PCP was not in. It would have been much preferred to hear that over the phone as opposed to walking (In pain) to the Smith Campus Center. That itself could have been a misunderstanding but how he was treated when arrived there is the real problem. The front desk staff were rude and dismissive from the moment he started speaking to them. The man at the front desk denied he had coverage (rudely, cutting my partner off...) and questioned everything my partner said. My partner presented his card and then said his PCP's name and that he had been there before, the man responded "Well that's impossible." Someone else then looked him up and found him, but as he was walking to see the NP they shouted out "No wait you don't have coverage!" To then check again and confirm he did. What is going on at HUHS that they can't even check someone in who has been there, and if the system was having issues then that is not their fault, but how they treated my partner is again the issue. The NP then told him that they did not have the authority to prescribe him anything. This, again, could have been said clearly and directly over the phone to not waste his or anyone's time but again would not be a huge issue if not for the interactions at the front desk. My partner was in pain and thought he would receive at least basic level of human decency in his interactions with HUHS staff. He was treated like he was a criminal walking off the street demanding drugs. He has seen his PCP there. This is HIS healthcare provider. They were asking him whether he was a "summer school student"...do they really not know how to use their own system, and that itself is understandable because systems change/new staff/systems act wonky... but being rude and dismissive is not. I have heard others' stories of bad experiences at HUHS (including my partner having previously been given wrong information in getting blood work done) and now it is just too much. If you are a staff member, then choose another insurance option. I had been a graduate student at Harvard before becoming an admin and thought it easier to stay. But I deeply regret that decision after what my partner experienced.

This review is for all of the nonsense that I have personally had to deal with as a student here…read more I am honestly fed up with the general attitude here. Giving it 2 stars because of neutral to good experiences I've had with some members of staff. Freshman year: I go to my primary care doctor. I tell him I have these horrible headaches. He literally tells me to just get sleep. Um. Ok. Sophomore year: I have this massive 2nd degree burn. I go to urgent care, literally no patients waiting there. I have to wait an excruciatingly long time before I get treated. When the doctor is ready to see me, she says, "Oh we have patients staying overnight who have more urgent concerns than yours." No apology. To top it off, the primary treatment I am given is this topical cream that, after a quick google, I find out, "prolongs healing time" and shows no "real indications of efficacy." I get by on codeine. Junior year: I go to an urgent care having filled out a survey. My thyroid might actually be infected. A doctor sees me, and she tells me, "Oh, we don't treat thyroid issues in urgent care. It's not urgent. You have to go see primary care." I guess I would have really appreciated it if they had just emailed me to not show up rather than making me show up and wasting my time. The next day, I phone in to try to schedule a primary care appointment. She asked me why I didn't call yesterday, and I told her that I had a lot of work I was trying to take care of. She literally scoffed at me. She also was both extremely unhelpful and condescending when I asked her about the steps I would need to take to treat thyroid issues and . . . I'm fairly certain that she doesn't understand the difference between getting the ok for a thyroid screen and actually getting a screen. She honestly didn't seem to know what she was doing in general. It goes without saying that it is extremely frustrating to talk to someone who is both illogical and also arrogant about it. Never in my life have I dealt with such terrible service from health staff. Point being, HUHS, step up your game. We as students go to you to be treated, not aggravated.

There is no communication between staff and family members and it is like pulling teeth to even get someone on the phone, that is if they even bother to answer it and don't just automatically hang up on you before you can even say hello. They NEVER follow through with anything! They are liars! They put patients in great danger with their lack of care, laziness and neglect. They lose patients belongings over and over again- eye glasses, hearing aids, clothes and shoes and do not replace. They do not give patients access to their monthly Personal Needs Allowance, yet instead pocket that money. The most DESPICABLE thing they do is secretly go behind familys backs and file for conservatorship of patients by providing the court misleading information and lies. They illegally take over patients finances and have their SSI checks re-routed to themselves without first consulting with the patient or family members. Instead of doing things legally and applying to be the patients Personal Payee, so there is a record of who the money is going to each month, they instead PRETEND to be the patient and give the Social Security Office a new bank account (THEIRS) to have the patients monthly checks rerouted to each month, making it seem like the patient is still the one receiving their monthly benefits, when in reality Cambridge Rehab and Nursing are funneling all the money into their own bank account.
