CFO Professional Accounting was sold. Previous owners and staff were amazing. Never had a problem. The new name under new owner is SMB Numbers. I have been calling and emailing one particular employee as well as asking for the owner to contact me. They did not process my 2024 taxes under the name CFO. I paid them in full to process my taxes. Now they expect me to pay late filing penalties due to their negligence. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, you'll regret it. read more

We used them for year 2025 tax return, we have everything ready to upload in Q4 of 2024 but our original accountant left the company and it took forever until we get hold of anyone who will return our email and phone calls that would take care of our account. We end up having to pay couple hundreds of late penalties and interest fee to IRS for filing late. read more

When the business was owned by Tom, working with them was a pleasure. Unfortunately, things changed significantly after the company was sold. I began receiving repeated emails demanding prepayment for tax services, with the warning that they would not handle my personal or business taxes otherwise. I attempted to call but couldn't reach anyone. So, I visited their Robious Road office, only to find the door locked and no one at the front desk. After ringing the buzzer and waiting, an employee finally let me in. I explained that I had been receiving emails about prepaying and wanted to settle the amount owed for both my personal and business taxes. The employee told me he had no idea what I owed, which was incredibly frustrating. I pressed for an answer to avoid wasting the trip, but he simply said, "I am not privy to that information." Another customer in the lobby overheard and commented that he had been a long-time client, but since the ownership change, it had been a nightmare dealing with them. I left the office extremely frustrated and decided to find a new CPA. When my new accountant attempted to file my taxes, they were rejected by the IRS. This led to a scramble to resolve the issue and avoid penalties for late filing. It also appeared that my identity may have been compromised, prompting me to file a credit freeze and fraud reports with all three credit bureaus. We had to rush to the bank for a cashier's check and get it postmarked at the post office within an hour to avoid penalties and interest. Months later, I was contacted by CFO, asking me to pay a bill from 14 months prior. That's when I discovered they had filed a tax extension with the IRS, without my consent or knowledge, which caused the rejection of my return. To make matters worse, they continue to call claiming my company which I sold, has an outstanding balance, (My company was acquired on May 1, 2025) yet I've never received an invoice. According to my current accountant, the amount they claim is owed has already been paid. read more

I've used my CPA, Tom Kozusko for many, many years and he is great. Last year he sold the business to a Yvette Owo and now the service is absolutely horrible and I will never use them again and if I could give them a minus 5 I would. read more

Historically we had a positive experience under the past owner, Tom Kozusko. I submitted all tax preparation documents for 2024 in early February 2025 to CFO and was unaware that our usual contact was no longer allowed to communicate with us. We received a variety of individuals who reached out to us inconsistently then disappeared were no longer a relevant contact so it felt like there was a lot of stop and go and intermittent communication. It was an utter surprise to know they had filed for one extension for our business and personal tax return. They did technically provide notice of this but the deadline for receiving tax documents changed from their original email, which was noted in my calendar originally. We did not receive our business tax returns until August 2025 and we received our Personal tax Returns for 2024 back in late October 2025. Around July/August I saw a lot of Google Reviews with the same experience but have noticed the google business page has disappeared and I could not comment on my experience via Google- only Yelp and Facebook (as of 10/31/2025). The price that we paid went up more than 2x for each return and the timing/turn around/ communication/ connection was poor. This will be the last year that we use CFO and our financial planner, who originally referred us to Kimberly with CFO, no longer refers CFO out either as he ALSO had the same experience as us. I am frustrated and exhausted from trying to catch up with LAST YEAR to the point that now I feel like I am more disorganized for the 2025 tax year. It would be possible for CFO to identify that they have communicated dates and expectations accordingly and while they're not wrong I will tell you the qualitative experience has been very poor. After 3 years of doing taxes with them me and my husband, the office suddenly decided that it is not suitable for him to work with us? And we're sure it's because we don't bring in a lot of money, so it's a waste of time for them, it's a shame that companies like you exist, it would be ridiculous to simply demand more for your service and not send a "layoff" notice. He comes early and stays late, and he's well-connected with helpful people in a lot of different industries around Richmond. Since day one, he's gone the extra mile for me without my asking. Terrible experience, I got rid of them a few months ago and my new accountant and I are still trying to get my books back in order. They charge you for every question you ask, and most of the time the answer they give you is incorrect or incomplete so you then have to ask a follow up question which they also charge you for! I do not recommend CFO Professionals to anyone as I found their service to be anything but professional. If I could I would give them a 0 star review. My parents had used them for their accounting services and I chose to use them myself for the past 2 years and last year was def. the last. Last year, I found out that my taxes are not that in-depth being that I am a single independent professional. I ended up discovering that in my case my tax return amount would be the same whether I use an online service or their services at CFO. Yet last year CFO quoted me over double the cost of an online provider and for what ended up amounting to the same return. Not to mention with CFO I was asked to fill out the extensive CFO profile for my taxes which was extensive and time consuming and exactly the SAME information as going through an online provider, all to end up with the same return. So using the services at CFO in my case neither saved me time nor money. Nevertheless I knew I had already agreed to use their services before this discovery so I would end up paying their fees, which I understood; however, I was very disappointment is how unprofessionally this company and Sandra handled the matter. I was sent a bill to my wrong address. I JUST filled out their whole profile and I filed my taxes the previous year with them from the same address YET they couldn't take the time to send me the bill to my correct address, I find that to be EXTREMELY unprofessional and a security risk. They deal with our personal information including SSNs and yet couldn't update my address in their records/files. Despite that fact, as I mentioned earlier my parents also used their services which is how I was referred; yet I never gave them permission to discuss my finances with my parents yet on a couple of occasions Sandra broke the confidentiality of our business transaction and disclosed my personal business with them over not paying my bill right away or not being able to reach me. I find that to be extremely unprofessional and a breach of confidentiality. Unless a client specifically gives you permission to discuss their account or finances with someone else it SHOULDN'T be done and that I figured was just commonsense. The first notice I received gave me 30 days before they took "legal action" and I sent in my payment 20 days in, yet they didn't even wait the 30 days before sending me a legal action notice TO THE WRONG ADDRESS AGAIN. In my opinion they are absolutely the worst, most unprofessional and unsecured business I have had the experience of dealing with. I do not recommend nor trust their services to anyone. read more
