Off the charts! Cesar himself sat us, and walked us through the well thought out menu. He recommended several authentic dishes and they did not disappoint! Chili Relleno was on point! (Non-breaded) Authentic tacos were spot on, especially the Cesar pork taco. Fried chicharones were a great app! But the El Pastor Torta was the money winner!! Wow!! Arrived on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. (Est. was about the same from the hostess) Restaurant was crowded and little louder than we usually like, but we fortunately were seated at the bar and it seemed quieter. Food was delicious! Wife had Oceanside (?) fajitas - large tilapia filet, scallops, and shrimp - still hasn't stopped talking about it. I ordered a chimichanga - flavorful - just not as large as some others serve. Drinks were reasonably priced. Margarita packed a punch - made my wife smile. Server could have been friendlier, but staff behind the bar seemed interested in our experience. Not what I was expecting from Mexican food as a Texan. I didnt like the chips and salsa, the taquito were not what i would call taquitos. My kids quesadilla was not a quesadilla. It was just a soft taco with cheese. It wasn't grilled on the outside. Wasn't terrible just didn't have great flavor and not what I'm used to. Pupulsa was very good. read more

Cesars was very welcoming from the beginning, took care of our team, and their food has been fabulous. Came around 7pm on a Thursday with my husband and there was about a 20 minute wait to get a table. Apparently that's pretty common and a good sign if they are always that busy no matter the day. We got margaritas from the bar and sat outside while we waited. They were strong drinks - top shelf quality! It's a very lively place and as others have mentioned it's LOUD inside. It's rather small with about 15 tables or so and bar seating. Once seated we practically had to yell at each other to hear. The fact that the kitchen is right behind the bar I think contributes to the noise. We really enjoyed the chips and salsa! Salsa is spicier than any other Mexican restaurant's we've tried. Queso was pretty good. The fajitas and chicken & rice were yummy! Portions are huge! We stuffed our bellies FULL and still brought home some! The host staff were friendly and our waiter was awesome! He checked on us often enough and kept our drinks full. Despite the loudness, everything was great and we will return again! read more

Hands down this is the best restaurant in town! We have been going to Cesar's ever since they had their smaller restaurant and the quality of service and food has always been the same. This is the perfect place to go for dinner and is kid friendly. I highly recommend trying the pupusas and the tequila lime chicken. Ok,​ we stumbled upon this place by accident and what a find! We don't​ live in Springfield but find ourselves here all the time. Needing lunch my wife went to Yelp while I was driving and came across Cesar's whihc had good reiviews. This place is a hidden gem. Let me first say, sit at the bar, you'll get a show from the hardworking​ and impressively capable cooking staff. Your really close to the cook and prep station and can see everything. Its a small kitchen area and it seems there is some prep work going on in the back too. But this tiny space and a lot of hustle form the staff really make good use of the space. The​ staff was always serious and focused behind the counter​ making the food but friendly and engaging while being efficient​​t when serving us. We had two sisters serving us and they explained things as needed, discussing where the foods came from because we asked (not all the recipes are traditional Mexican fare​, more Latin American and more interesting). Foods were fresh, bright and full of flavor. Not bland marginalized Mexican as​ many places do. They had items on the menu we can normally only find out west (which is home). Note that salsa was a bit hotter than most which I find too bland. My wife who does not like any heat felt it was good too, she just dipped less on her chips. I had an​​unusual​ Tropical Fajita that included​ pineapple​ but was not too sweet, it balanced well with the mild heat and spices. My son ordered a dish he had was familiar with that he orders​ in Spanish​ so he could be sure it was what he wanted (he speaks fluent​ Spanis​h). My wife had fish tacos which she raved about. I had enough that I took half home and had the rest later for lunch. This place is small, packed in and a bit noisy, I hope they expand because there was a line out the door most of the time we were there. Great food, great staff, fun to watch the cooks and prep areas. Its now on our list of favorites in Springfield. read more

This place has an eclectic biker or tattoo parlor, ambience, and feel. It's very confusing on what kind of vibe this place is wanting to have. I feel like it's meant to be a hang out place for the outcast, and they just added Mexican food food as an afterthought. The food to me taste similar to Tex-Mex and very bland. read more

I ordered a chicken burrito. It came with guacamole, beans, rice and a sweeter jack cheese. The cheese was too sweet for me and overwhelmed the flavor. Their other ingredients seemed fresh. It was one of the bigger burritos I have seen (bigger than chipotle). Easily could feed two. I would not go back but those who like sweeter Mexican dishes might enjoy it. As context, I am from Southern California and grew up eating great Mexican and Central American food so I can be a harsh critic on this end. read more

What is your favorite food style? Mine has to be Mexican, I often say I could eat it every meal. In Spfld Mo you have a lot of choices but none is better than Cesar's. Located in what appears to be an old Pizza Hut this place was hopping. Cars, trucks, SUVs jammed the parking lot-one of tale tell signs of a good restaurant is car count, Cesar's had it in abundance. Step inside and you'll encounter a buzzing crowd, be prepared to talk loud to your tablemates, but hey, in reality you are not there to talk, you're there to eat. The menu has tons of options, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas it's all there. Pick your protein-they have it and it's all flavorful and good. I was rolling solo so I was guided to a spot at a packed bar which overlooked the guys busy making it happen on the grill-it was very interesting and entertaining watching them fill and fold giant tortillas, sling cheese, guac and sour cream. I ordered up three tacos: Al Pastor, Asada, Brria with a side of Charro beans. Each taco had great flavor and the beans were a nice addition to the overall meal. Chips and Salsa came with the meal and they were good. The Salsa spicy warm but not too hot for those who are sensitive, chips were warm, crisp and great with salt. Cesar's is so popular that we've about given up trying to catch dinner here because the place is typically packed. We've started going at lunchtime or shortly thereafter and, while still busy, we haven't experienced the lines & wait times. You have to be flexible if you want to sample one of the best Mexican restaurants in town... Service is great but the atmosphere is hectic with waitresses constantly on the move in the small (ex-Ken's Pizza) building. It would help the wait & bustling activity if they moved to larger digs but... así es la vida! We love margaritas & guacamole with chips - Cesar's doesn't disappoint. There are many options on the menu. My wife loves the Green Enchiladas with the poblano cream sauce while I'm versatile with the Burrito Acapulco, Fish tacos, or putting together an enticing combo of a la carte items. Sometimes we'll just split the awesome Oceanside fajitas, the Slammed nachos or maybe just the Crazy Mexican Sampler. When our granddaughter comes with us, the fried ice cream is a must (and too plentiful for her to consume alone)! We have a handful of Mexican restaurants that we routinely visit based upon assured quality of food & experience with Cesar's near the top of the five. Highly recommended! read more

The food was great! Perfectly cooked, beautiful presentation, absolutely delicious. I live in Texas and this place exceeded my expectations so far from home and Mexico. We had Carne Asada and Pork Carnitas and both were delectable. I was very disappointed at the enforcement of masks inside. Few guests were wearing masks at all (not just improperly) in the crowded waiting area. The mask sign on the door is small and falling apart. Kitchen staff, in full view of guests in the middle of the restaurant, wore masks improperly while preparing food. The host pulled down his mask repeatedly to speak over the noise to get us on the waiting list. I will enthusiastically come again when the pandemic is over. Our waitress was fantastic (despite the mask below her nose 50% of the time), drinks reasonably priced, and quick food service. I look forward to trying the food again without the stress of poor health practices. read more

It's always a long wait to get into Cesar's but that's because it's just so good! Expect to share your table - but that makes it so fun. Some of our favorites are the sopes (try chicken or asada), and the fajitas. They really celebrate birthdays well, coming out to sing and giving a huge plate of churros and ice cream. The bartender who was setting up our to go order was awesome. We were getting over $100 in food, and he realized some of it was missing when he went through the bags. He also set us up with some very liberal margaritas and daiquiris which were perfect. So I ordered the chili Colorado, which I have had in restaurants all over the U.S. so I was expecting some heat. Some heat. Err, yeah. That chili Colorado was so hot it took one bite for me to say nope, this will kill me if I eat one more bite. Heartburn would be the order of the day, for the next week. I mean it was just absolutely insane how hot it was. My friend from Saudi likes really spicy food and offered to trade dishes with me. Her chicken enchiladas were very good. She got through about half of the chili Colorado before she started sweating, not 'perspiring' like a lady but just straight out sweating like a marathon runner while turning bright pink! It was so insanely hot everybody had to try it, and I watched with amusement at the stunned expressions on their faces afterwards. Everything else there was okay, and I would go back in the future I suppose, but that's a hard no on the Chili Colorado. read more

Great food for a reasonable price. Beer was a little pricey. It's a very happening place with a nice atmosphere. We were sat in the back room and it was very loud. Definitely feels like a party. It was a good experience overall! Next time I will probably ask to sit in the main dining area so I don't have to yell at my wife the whole dinner. On the other hand, if you and your date are prone to yelling at each other, just request the back room and nobody will think anything of it... read more
