There was serious damage to the original, highly custom stain finish on the dresser and a nightstand. Scott showed up to return the repaired furniture precisely on time on the promised completion date with the dresser and the nightstand. When he set it back down in the bedroom alongside the rest of the bedroom set, he acknowledged what we already new. The color was slightly off and the shine did not match. He immediately announced that he was taking the items back to his shop to achieve perfection. He returned the next day and the repairs were, in fact, done to perfection. As if that wasn't enough, while he was returning the furniture, I asked him about a small damage to our laminate wood flooring. He made the repair on the spot and did not ask for any additional money. FOR US THERE IS NO ATTRIBUTE OF GREATER IMPORTANCE THAN KNOWING THAT THE PERSON OR COMPANY THAT WE ARE DOING BUSINESS WITH WILL ALWAYS MAKE THINGS RIGHTS, IN THE EVENT THAT IT DOESN'T INITIALLY TURN OUT EXACTLY THE WAY WE WANTED. This is the same reason why we almost exclusively do our online shopping with Amazon. For the last 19 years, including several thousand transactions, they never failed to make things right whenever there was an occasional problem. After meeting with a Stonehaven sales representative, we made a deposit for half of the estimated project cost on September 9, 2022. On October 11, 2022 we reached out to the office as we had not heard from anyone at Stonehaven. We had not been given a Project Manager or received any communication on the project. Office staff indicated that she would speak to the owner and we would get a call back. We made 7 additional calls requesting to speak with the owner. We were told the owner was busy, sick, working on other projects etc. October 29, 2022 Chris Chambers returned our calls. He stated that he had not looked at our project file. During the call Chris did not listen to our concerns about the lack of communication from Stonehaven, or that our project had not begun and no materials had been ordered. Chris did not acknowledge any company shortcomings. We signed a carbon copy paper, agreeing to the estimates for a remodel and gave a deposit. No one at any time reviewed or discussed contract stipulations. At our request to cancel the contract prior to the commencement of work on the project, ordering appropriate supplies or preparation for the project by Stonehaven, Chris indicated that he would be deducting 10% of the quoted cost of the remodel. In the end, Chris kept a portion of our deposit in the sum of $1,628.71 and justified his actions by saying that he had paid his staff commissions and to cover administrative fees for our project that never started, no work was done and no materials were ordered. There is no way we could recommend working with Stonehaven Remodeling.

After calling 3 crawlspace repair places to get estimates. It was unanimous the repairs had to be done from inside. Called Troutman's after Yelp search of bathroom repair. He came out & surveyed damages. We discussed timeline & although they were pretty booked with jobs, he said they work me in. It would take several days- but I was fine with that. I just needed it done before buyers had their inspection. He called me later with the estimate, price was reasonable for everything they had to do. He asked if it was ok to work on Labor Day & that way they could get it all done in one day. I happily accepted. I also asked if while they had floor ripped up could they address the damaged joists under the house. (3rd crawl space person quoted me $3500 to do bathroom floor & joists!) some Bologna about the joists being "special" and he would have to order the wood to do it. I asked Troutman's if they could do the joists whole floor was ripped up. He agreed at an additional $300. Awesome!! The crew showed up on time & prepped areas with drop cloths to minimize dirt etc. they quickly got to work ripping everything except rub out. They had everything done (including joists) and new tile laid by lunch time. They went to lunch while tile dried. Once returned they finished the bathroom in just a few hours. Cleaned up & were gone they arrived at 8:30 & were gone by 4:30. The job looks great.

I will say the cost was very expensive (to me), but this is not a gripe considering I have never had upholstery done before. Justin (owner) was very nice during the consultation and straightforward. He showed me the fabric samples , explained the price ranges and allowed me to select what I wanted without attempting the least bit of sway towards fabric that were not within my $$ range. I felt very at ease during the selection process. There is a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, but if you have a price range/fabric type it can be easily narrowed down. Thankfully, it did not take me long to decide on what I wanted. A deposit is required to make the appointment for service (after the consultation). There was a wait period of approximately 6 weeks from my consult to drop the furniture (1 accent chair + 4 dining) off for service due to there being no appointments available, which was no issue for me. He estimated that he would have my furniture 1-2 weeks. One week later all of my pieces were ready and looking gorgeous! My large accent chair had some slight instability with one of the legs which Justin had noticed during the consultation. He had planned to repair without extra charge. However, within a few days of having the chair he called and told me that the instability wasn't quite what he'd expected and that it would be $45 additional to repair. I asked him if he was 100% certain this would resolve it and he answered honestly, telling me that he was only 5% certain. I definitely appreciated his honesty and declined to have that part repaired. All of the pieces that I had upholstered were secondhand pieces to me. Therefore I do not know the original monetary values. However, getting this makeover for the pieces has added value & done a lot for the aesthetics of my home. I'm very glad that I did it. If I ever decide to get anything reupholstered again or know of anyone seeking this type of service I would undoubtedly use again/recommend Carolina Upholstery.
