May 31, 2025 - Saturday…read more Review #519 My review is based on the Service, Quality and Value with Dr. Sweep (Humor name) that performed a Spring cleaning, camera inspection and 26 - point checklist for the closing of My family room fireplace. Fireplace technician Rob Gray was on time as informed when I set up the appointment on line from 7 days prior. Before starting the process of cleaning, camera of inspection then approval, he was kind enough to ask questions about the fireplace being the first time at My Home. He was very knowledgeable and also discussed the types of wood to burn to help out with less creosote in the chimney. Then he talked about moisture levels and those annoying down drafts which I was already aware of. Before I start a fire on a Windy afternoon I open up the door-wall a bit to assist wind. Humor about the company name, I asked employee Rob where was his stethoscope since name of company is Dr. SWEEP! :-) He was cautious with using the backyard and door-wall to bring in his cleaning and inspection equipment plus a tarp on the carpet to prevent dirt or dust. The masonry chimney potential concerns and fireplace concerns worksheet I attached in a photo to state the many steps in the verification of the service! Since My fireplace has a insert and high tech blower system that checked out great and in proper usage. No leaks, no damaged bricks and the 8 inch Flue checked out fine. It was nice to see the camera photos of a shiny Liner! I was pleased in the final process with great results and that the fireplace passed inspection is safe for use again in the Fall. The start to finish cleaning and outside inspection on the roof of the family room fireplace took 1 Hour. Great Service, Details in High Quality and a Good Cleaning price of $269.00. less coupon discount $20.00. Now the outside on the roof of the chimney "Crown" needs to be resurfaced after 25 years of using the fireplace and also waterproofing which I will set up a day and time later on to complete this in September or October. I was glad to find this company in the Dollars Inside Coupon Book and checked on their reviews and used a coupon for $20.00 off the cleaning. I will also use another coupon in the future for 20% off Masonry Repairs. This company has been in business since 1999. What took Me so long to find them to call ? :-) Thank You Rob at Dr. Sweep and the next time I call for cleaning, I will ask for You! After I removed it, I found that most of the block support behind that was also loose or missing. I put in a call to several contractors for quotes. Brickworks was the first to respond and came up with an innovative repair plan. All others immediately said the whole porch would need replaced at almost 2x Brickworks quote. Decided to take a chance and was quite pleased. They repaired the structure, installed new fascia brick and were able to salvage some flagstone pieces to repair the surface of the porch. Everything was coated with waterproofing. However, when they were done they did an amazing cleanup and even repaired and seeded a few sq ft of damaged grass and reinstalled mulch around the porch. You would never have known that they were there except for the fact that the porch looked amazing. This work was done last year. It weathered great during the winter. I've always meant to post a review but never got around to it. I'd get a guilty feeling every time I'd see their trailer. Today I couldn't take it any more and just had to post. Would recommend them without reservation!

Ive been trying to get a call back for two months and no matter how many times I call it's the same thing, I'll have someone get back to you, it never happens and frustration is now at a high. 75% of my chimney is 70 years old and looks great but the work they did is beginning to show major signs of wear and tear. Now I understand why they only offer a five-year warranty!! Customer service is horrible and craftsmanship has a lot to be desired. My fault I guess for thinking I hired a reputable company.

Overall, I've been pleased with the installation and the system itself. My concern is with the follow-up service. Part of the critter guard came loose and fell off, and it has now been almost three months since I first contacted Oak. During that time, I've corresponded with three different people at the company as well as their phone service. I initially asked whether the repair was covered under warranty. I also asked that, if it was not, they simply provide a parts list or tell me what I would need to buy so I could address it myself. I still have not received that information. I was subsequently told that Oak would take care of the repair, but almost three months later the critter guard is still sitting on the sidewalk. This seems like a relatively minor issue, and I've tried to be flexible about the solution. I would be satisfied either with Oak reattaching it as promised or with enough information to understand what is needed to fix it properly. I chose Oak in part because of its participation in Ann Arbor's organized solar group-buy program, and I otherwise like the solar installation. I'm posting this review because the normal service channels have not resolved what should be a straightforward service request. I hope someone at Oak sees this and gets it taken care of.
