We also really liked the "vibe" of the place--people were there to have a good time! The fried pickles & wings & fried mushrooms were all very good. We were a group of 15 with reservations for lunch. I am only relating mine and hubby's experience. Actually, I feel it was totally a server problem.. I ordered potato skins.. I was the last one served and they were just warm.. hubby had Reuben that was delicious.. later I hear mine had been passed around when appetizers were served and sent back when no one claimed them. There was no silverware and most had hot food, politely asking for it.. she was really inconvenienced and basically threw 2 handfuls in the table. Our check did not resemble our order, but the amount was close enough so paid and promised ourselves never to return. There was a 2.5% plastic charge for using credit card.. I noticed that most only gave the server a couple bucks.. I gave her the obligatory 18% because of handheld device. Bad day or poor people skills.. remember the people in the seats pay the bills.. we drove 90 miles RT.. we will never remember the Long Bar or the cold beer just the server who couldn't smile and the restaurant that can't raise their prices 2.5%. read more

Four stars because of the sneaky upcharge. The food is amazing, but the fact that it doesn't say anything on their menu to have a side of sauce. They will tack on an additional amount. It's miscommunication for the most part but still cmon now. We all enjoyed the food, especially the fried pickles they are buttery and crispy with the right amount of salt. Best ones I've had in a while. The burgers are decent size and will definitely fill you up. We tried the Cerno's burger, black and blue, and the chicken avocado sandwich. All where good, except the black and blue was a bit dry that is why we asked for a side of sauce. If you download the app they will give you a free draft beer which is awesome bcuz they charge a hefty price for a glass of beer. Just like anywhere though. We will try and visit this restaurant again in the future when we are in town because the food was good and delicious. read more

We definitely enjoyed our food, beer, and visit to Cerno's. Since it is a very beer-themed place (specifically Pabst themed) the menu, thus our food and drink are very beer related. I had the PBR burger, which involved the 'deep fried cheese' pattie that went on top of my massive burger. The pattie, though, was infused with PBR as well. I don't mind PBR, but yet I feel you always take a chance when you order a food item made out of beer because too much beer flavor can come out hoppy or yeasty. But my PBR burger was pretty good. I also enjoyed my Cherry Bomb Ale that they had on tap (they have ~30 beers on tap) out of Davenport, IA. I am a cherry freak, and a beer brewed with cherries is right up my alley. It's definitely an ale, the cherries aren't as strong as, say, in a cherry coke. It doesn't taste like a beer with grenadine. It was just a refreshing ale. If you are in the Dutty K, go to Cerno's! read more

We went with the shrimp tacos appetizer and the breakfast burger as well as a small pepperoni pizza and a "damn good" (a house cocktail) food was mostly good, appetizer came cold- the rest was good. Service was kinda slow from waiting to order to waiting for our food, the servers were all friendly though. Noticeably, an 'older' crowd seems to like this place so it's not as rowdy or noisy as anticipated, Irish pub style decoration, fancy booths, and really pretty woodwork in the ceiling and walls. I understand that businesses are short staffed and in restaurants it's especially hard now to get and keep good people. I try to be patient and a decent human being, and accept there will be wait times. But when you sit patiently at a bar and the bartender walks by you at least four times without acknowledging your existence, that's just a bit unwelcoming. Worse is seeing her texting on her cell phone at the end of the bar as you walk out to take your business elsewhere. read more

We journeyed to Cerno's Bar & Grill after reading that they had been crowned as makers of the best burger by The Illinois Beef Association. I'm so glad we went, as our experience was exceptional! Cerno's itself is located in an old brick building. The business was originally opened several decades ago by Pabst, which is reflected in some of the decor. Incidentally, you can buy a PBR for $1 any day of the year. The bar is huge and beautiful, with amazing woodwork. Our booth was spacious and insular. It really felt like my boyfriend and I were seated across from each other in our own little room. The food was mostly good. The only weak link were my french fries. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was outstanding. I realized a few minutes after placing our order that our waitress hadn't asked us how we wanted our burgers cooked, but fortunately they came out just about right. Mine was medium and though I would have preferred medium-rare (which is what my boyfriend ended up with), the burger was still very good. My boyfriend's cheesy potatoes were really tasty, also. Dinner at Cerno's is an excellent idea. If you're planning to come, I recommend calling ahead for a reservation, as seating is limited. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is par none here in Kewanee. It has a rich history with buttons on the wall bye th booths for calling a prostitute from the brothel that used to be upstairs, original 100 year old wall paper and intricately carved wood work in the dining room and bar. read more

Possibly my favorite time warp bar. Any dedicated Pabst Blue Ribbon drinker will eventually find this landmark. This is an excellent experience if you appreciate a vintage 19th century bar...the actual wood bar itself, not the people who manage it, nor the quality of food! I'm not sure I ever considered the food being gratifying..."it's just available". No dedicated bartender here... The wait staff is expected to do double duty while perfecting the art of talking amongst themselvers. The Mahogany Bar actually built by the Pabst Brewing Company in 1898 is mesmerizing. Great food, nice people which made my two visits very enjoyable. The fried potato salad for the side dish was amazing! The bar is historic and had seen it on the Discovery channel a long time ago. The PBR burger is my favorite but the brisket sandwich was very good too. I plan to go at least one more time before heading back to SoCal. read more

We headed out for a drive and some how ended up in the big K! Spent some time at Goods and enjoyed our time but needed some major yummies in our life! Someone said, you must check out Cerno's and boy are we glad we did! FANTASTIC food, great decor, service was spot on and, I mean you can't go wrong with any place that offers patrons fresh popcorn at the door!! Great spot! Great food and service. Great atmosphere. Very cool antique bar imported from Belgium. This was originally a Pabst tavern.

We have been here many times before, however, this visits was very disappointing. My wife order the same pizza she always does and it did not have the lettuce and tomatoes on it that it normally has and it also had the wrong sauce. When we told the staff, they brought her out a small bowl with lettuce and tomato. When we told them it had the wrong sauce, they went back to ask someone in the kitchen and then told us it was correctly made. Others were complaining of slow service and not getting there food. They did not appear to be busy either as it was 2pm when we were there. I thought they may comp us part if the food or drink for their mistakes but did not. Hope this visit was just an isolated day with substandard help in the kitchen and service staff. read more

We rode here from Peoria on the bikes. We only waited 5-10 minutes to be seated. The hostess and waitress were both incredibly nice!! We ordered immediately after being seated (the place was packed!!). We waited a little over an hour for our burgers, which was a super long wait. As someone who recently started a diet, a place like this is my worst nightmare. The few times of eating here well not have been great. All the food the sides all episodes of had have been tantastic, the service has always been nice and friendly and the interior makes it a very enjoyable experience. A very old style bar with an especially older table shuffleboard game make it an interesting place to see in the large screen TVs makes watching sports really enjoyable. And there are a few good options for diets, but the non healthy options are too enticing. If you're in Kewanee, this place is a must! read more
