Loved the little details like the flowers wrapped around the top of every hanger. And the tea bags- not sure what that's about. I wouldn't say it's cheap, but not bad. Service was decent as most places were really busy. We came here a couple of times while in Lisbon, we tried the croquettes, potatoes and the gelato. We were just walking past and wanted a snack those were perfect. Second time I tried the lemon chickpea soup. Soup was excellent and broth was very flavorful. Took us ages to find a seat! But finally we did. Potatoes were crunchy outside and soft inside, I tried a couple of different croquettes, ham and cheese and a green curry. Both were excellent. The gelato I had was pastel de nata and lemon cookie. Again very good and super creamy and you can taste the pastel de nata and there was bits of the crust in the ice cream. Yum. Cool place with every type of cuisine you can imagine. Just can be very busy.

The two people working there were not very friendly. I get you have plenty of tourists "bothering" you to look at what you have in this shop, but that's part of having a shop: People. In your space. Just looking. Until they are just buying. They officially take AmEx, but prefer you not use it. The lady was sorta rude with another customer, and the guy that helped me got all offended because I called this wacky cocktail ring "costume" jewelry, since it is sterling. Yeah, but it still isn't fine jewelry with gem stones, easy killer. You certainly may find a unique Portuguese piece here, but be prepared to deal with attitude.

As someone who's looking for handmade cufflinks, i found Carmo to be one of the few that actually did sell them, did have a decent selection, and while the prices were 'non negotiable', they do fill out tax returns for tourists, which no other joalharia offered. But more so, they had things i liked compared to the rest.
