We hired Handyman Suffield, Enfield, and Coventry for a full bathroom remodel through a referral /…read morescreening platform. The experience taught me several important lessons. Although the handyman local company had many positive reviews, none were for a full remodel -- only small repairs or generic statements. The estimate provided was vague and didn't specify plumbing, electrical work, or wall/ceiling prep, which I now realize are essential when converting a shower to a bathtub. I assumed the daily labor rate covered what was needed to complete the job. By day four of a six day estimate, it was clear they weren't equipped for the job. No plumber had been scheduled, forcing me to hire a same day plumber at a very expensive rate. I paid directly for this charge $2800. Basic installation steps were missed until I pointed them out, wall prep was sloppy, and the new floor was cut unevenly with visible gaps. A worker even used my household garbage can as a cutting table. The owner insisted there were numerous changes that delayed the project. The estimate said any changes to scope would follow a formal process that was never invoked once. I thought except for a couple of changes the others were implied under general work statements like "install tub." I stopped the project with handyman and hired licensed professionals, whose workmanship was significantly better. I spent an additional $9,400 to finish and correct the work. We also disagreed with Handyman on the monies owed -- they insisted four days of labor were owed, even though the project was nowhere near 4/6 complete. They side my additional costs were not relevant to what I owed them. Takeaway: Match the scope of your project to the contractor's skill set. A full bathroom remodel requires licensed trades and a detailed estimate. Before starting, use an AI tool describing your project and it lead you through the critical points. Once you select a contractor ask the AI tool how good a fit the selection is.

We recently closed the sale of our challenging house of 20 years, and cannot thank Quincy enough…read morefor her exceptional support throughout the process. Selling our home was no easy feat, as we faced numerous trials and tribulations along the way. From unexpected repairs to navigating complicated negotiations, Quincy was there every step of the way. We cannot recommend Quincy enough! From the very beginning she was a powerhouse, incredibly professional, and knowledgeable. The photos, drone footage and virtual staging was wonderful, it had us seriously reconsidering moving at all. Quincy's marketing strategy was so impressive and proactive, she even listed our house in print from NYC to Maine after it went under contract a second time. To our surprise, we had interested parties that drove to see our home from both locations. Quincy is truly dedicated and possesses a deep understanding of the real estate market, VA regulations, and a fantastic team of vendors that were eager to push whatever was needed ahead of other schedules because of their working relationship with Quincy. Quincy always available to answer our many questions day and night. She went above and beyond, ensuring that every detail was taken care of throughout the entire process as there were many obstacles throughout this sale. She even repainted an outdoor structure, inside fireplace reinstalling detectors, and removing some furniture left behind, selling our kayaks, as we had already left Connecticut. We never expected this from a realtor. Quincy's unwavering dedication and expertise truly stood out. It was an emotional process once our home did sell to a fantastic family, but more so thus ending our unique relationship in this respect with Quincy. We are incredibly grateful for Quincy's hard work, commitment, and support during this challenging journey. If you are looking for a realtor who will advocate for you and work tirelessly to achieve your goals, we wholeheartedly recommend Quincy Farrow, from Berkshire Hathaway in Woodstock CT, it will be a decision you wont regret. Thank you for making the impossible possible!

We've had water intrusion issues ever since roof replaced by JulesPoirier Company in 2020. Jules…read moreand his Team did 3 follow up inspections, two times they attributed fault to other issues (gutters/chimney condition). Fair, we weren't looking to pin our issues on something beyond their control. We took that advice to heart and addressed those concerns with a chimney / flashing rebuild as well as twice annual gutter cleaning and now replacement to larger gutters. When the water intrusion issue continued Jules' team this time pointed blame to a 2nd story window and caulked the flashing/ J channel at the roof to siding transition below the point they suspected water was entering the home. When the water intrusion issue continued I decided to seek advice from other local companies which was an eye opening experience. Seemingly every siding to roof transition was installed incorrectly. Flashing / counter flashing done wrong. Nails through step flashing. Drip edge was also placed on top of ice and water shield (should be below). These issues now need to be addressed at an additional expense to us less than 4 years after our roof was replaced. The caulking they carelessly placed will also make the repairs more difficult. Unacceptable. Upon raising these findings to Jules - no response at all. That's fine, we would not want JulesPoirier Co doing any further work on our home, but the dancing around an issue of their creation is maddening. Their pricing (in 2020) was competitive with others we received, they were not the lowest bidder nor the highest, but the quality of work is severely lacking and their customer service has been equally poor. Roof replacements are a significant expense to homeowners, we hope you take this review into consideration before contracting with JulesPoirier Company.
