What a really disappointing experience this was. A couple of people have told me that the CCG had good, authentic food. Maybe, I have no idea about Spanish food, but the few times I've been to Spain, even the worst places I've been to were better than this. Why? The Tortilla Jamon was nothing more than scrambled eggs with Jamon. For all I know, a Spanish Tortilla has potatos, obviously not so at the CCG. Then the potatos French Fries. Excuse me, but what is Spanish about these? Every mediocre Tapas Bar has Batatas Bravas in the menu sometimes mediocre-tasting as well. The French Fries at the CCG were great, but I don't need to go to a Tapas Bar for that. Admittedly, the Gambas a la Plancha and the plate with Jamon, chorizo and Manchego were good, but at this hit rate, I am sorry, I am not coming back.
And then the wine yesterday was a hot summer night. They have a wonderful Rioja house wine and when it came to the table, it was warm like a Gluehwein. OK, normally red wine is served at room temperature, but if the room temperature hits 30C you'd better do sth. to get the red wine chilled as well. I had to do sth. which I normally totally distaste: ask for an icecube to put it in the wine. Otherwise, it was unbearable, this way, I could at least enjoy the wine.
To end on a good note, the service was friendly and the place itself has a down-to-earth look, but I can not recommend coming here. read more
