The Ugly Duckling that once was Westfield Doncaster has recently received the ultimate makeover and…read moreflourished as a stylish swan. Luxurious lounge area's to rest after intensive shopping are glittered throughout the centre and the brightly lit malls lead to over 400 shopping outlets. This shopping mall is a mix of chain stores from high street to designer fashion stores, home wares and electronics. Home to department stores Myer and David Jones, Village Cinema, Big W , Target, Safeway and Coles and countless food outlets. If your after high end designers then Chadstone is your best bet but for designers such as Alannah Hill and Max Mara then Doncaster is a more manageable option. This centre looks bigger then it feels so if your up for a shopping marathon you may feel let down by the size. But for my shopping and entertainment needs Doncaster is fantastic! The new personal shopper suite is perfect for individuals and groups who need a little fashion help, which may be useful in the upcoming party season! While not my speed I can totally appreciate its merits. The main obstacle to shopping bliss is car parking during peak periods, especially December and weekends its every car for itself. To ad insult to injury parking will cost you if you spend more then three hours in the centre. To remedy this you can pay $10 for valet parking and have your car sheltered for you. Doncaster Westfield is my pick for shopping in the Northeastern suburbs.

Doncaster is quite a large shopping center that offers almost 400 popular stores! They offer your generic well-known brands, as well as a few designer concept store. There two main things I want to say about Doncaster. First is the parking, if you chose to park in the multi-level, you'll notice that above each space is a light. Red means it's filled, white/green means its empty! No more cruising down at 2kph cursing at every single yaris/echo/jazz. You can now simply look straight down the lane and save yourself a lot of time(more for shopping!). The next thing I HAVE to mention...is the FOOD COURT. Some people hate food courts, I don't love or hate them-they're just...there. Wellll...take a visit to the Doncaster food court. I was honestly blown away the first time I went. It's like food galore! There is practically every type of cuisine you can think of! Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, kebabs, curry, pizza, pasta, fast food, soup, sandwich, fish, chicken, spud bar, ice cream, juice bar, chocolate, desserts...I could keep going you know. I have never seen so much variety in a food court...ever. It's a bit overwhelming for me because I'm a terrible decision maker and just want to eat everything in the end. The food court is very well designed, there is ample seating and the tables/chairs are all modern and stylish- and most of all, CLEAN. No sticky dirty tables here! Come to Doncaster, forget about the shopping (shopping is pretty awesome though)-come for the food court!

You have the potential to pick up some great leather goods for less than half the price. I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking for a bargain but doesn't want to deal with the massive crowds and cant be bothered circling a car-park for a spot. There's no sense of rush or excitement here, just a relaxing place where you might find a few good bargains along the way. There are over 400 free car spaces here, which make it all the more stress free.

The annoying thing about it is that you have to walk across a ton of carpark from the tram stop to actually get to the shopping centre, and there really isn't all that much here, other than a cinema and a couple of cafes. And unlike northcote plaza it actually has useful shops. Victoria gardens has lots of clothes shops for example cotton on, kmart, tempt, jeans west etc it also has a very big food court and food for all your fussy family members. It has a cinema which always comes in handy when you have nothing to do. One of my favourite things about Victoria gardens is of course ikea, what would you do with out ikea oh yeah NOTHING!! The ikea in vic gardens is very big and it has a childcare program where you just say "take my kids while I shop at ikea" and then POOF kid free. Vic Gardens includes boost, pet shop, various 2 dollar shops, sushi, Coles, dimmocks, dick smith, bakers delight etc I believe that this shopping centre couldn't get any better

You can't let that thing free, man. ~ Nice selection of food. Nothing too fantastic, but my favourites: Menya Ramen, Lord of the Fries, Grill'd, O-Bento, and Harajuku Crepes. This shopping centre has got a lot of things right that a lot of shopping centres have got wrong! Lets look at them in point form: 1. The car park is enormous and completely surrounds the shopping centre - so you can park near the closest entrance to the particular shop you need. 2. It is virtually all on the ground floor, so you dont have to buggerize around with escalators and lifts 3. There is a pub in the carpark (Skyways Tavern) - albeit not a great one, but it has a TAB if you need to put a bet on... (thats what we do out this way!) 4. It actually has a Target unlike most of the shopping centres I usually go to. All in all its pretty good. The big negative though is that the food in the foodcourt is absolutely appalling!!!! I dont know why but I can never find anything very nice to eat in that place. If the food was better, Id consider giving the centre 4 stars, but without decent food it only gets 3...
