This park has gotten a recent face-lift, as it gained a new play structure in the summer of 2013…read more It was the result of a joint venture between a non-profit (KaBoom!), the Pennsylvania Municipal League, and State College - built with the help of 175 volunteers, and with the inspiration from kids' drawings! This is a great place to visit if you have active kids, especially if they love to climb. There are all sorts of ladders & tunnels to climb, plus some of the longest slides in State College. The play structures for the younger & older kids are right next to each other, so the kids were mostly running back & forth between them, rather than staying on the structure that was designated for their age group. The other cool thing in this park is an updated merry-go-round. Kids either climb inside and ride that way, or they hang from the ropes/bars, but regardless of how they ride - it seems like fun! The original play equipment is still there, so there are still a few swings just across the field from the new park. Orchard Park is huge - it covers nearly 20 acres, and includes a walking/bike path, basketball & tennis courts, soccer fields, an amphitheater, picnic areas, ... and bathrooms (right next to the older playground.) To reach the new play area, just drive a ways down Bayberry Dr. (from Blue Course), and the playground is right behind the parking area. It's great to see the community support this local baseball team. The tickets are very reasonable and affordable for families with children. Parking was $5 in the lot behind beaver stadium; cash only. We paid $24 for two tickets in the lower section behind home plate. There's also a great view of Mount Nittany behind the outfield. I would recommend this location for couples, families, and everyone of all ages!

If you sign up for a "special", then you're locked in to a contract that has no savings for the customer at all. Don't think that you're getting a deal... Because you're not. And trying to cancel a contract with them is worse than canceling a cellphone contract. They sent me to collections but luckily I caught it before it affected my credit. RIDICULOUS. How are you going to send me to collections for services I never received? (Again, you basically need an attorney to try and cancel their contract.) The owner then proceeds to tell you that he doesn't deal with the payment system.... Which is a total cop out because clearly he does deal with the payment system. I've trained in many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms around Pennsylvania and this one by far has the most ridiculous payment system I've ever heard of. No one should be forced to pay for training that they didn't receive. I'm still trying to get my $40 bucks back from "late fees" they charged me with.... I chalked it up as a loss, but I'm writing an honest review because I've yet to see my refund from the "Payment Company" this is not how gyms should be run. Buyer Beware.

I've taken time to pray and reflect before writing this. My husband and our 19-year-old son came up from Florida for a visit and were excited to play a round of golf together. They brought their clubs and booked an early morning tee time. When they arrived at the clubhouse, my husband politely said, "Good morning, we have a tee time." The man behind the counter -- and I hesitate to call him a gentleman -- responded with, "I doubt you do," in an unnecessarily rude tone. Despite the treatment, my husband, a kind and well-educated Puerto Rican man, smiled and gave his name. The man glanced at the list, confirmed the tee time without apology, and coldly told them where the carts were. My son was shocked. My husband, trying to keep the peace, told him, "Unfortunately, you'll come across people like this in the world. Don't let them steal your joy." He brushed it off -- I cannot. We're active golfers and often travel to courses for both leisure and business. Sadly, this is not a place we'll recommend. To the man who treated them that way: I'll pray for you. Judging someone by the color of their skin is wrong -- and it does not belong in any clubhouse, on any course, anywhere.

We understand that maintenance needs to be done however it is not ok to continually follow people up and down the course. They was no one to flag down for help or to bring this to anyone's attention so we "played" through to try and get ahead of the mowing staff only to be followed again and again. They would come right up to the green while we were putting! It was insane, completely unprofessional, and ruined the experience. Once we finally gave up and left the office staff was unhelpful and told us to tell it to the maintenance supervisor or go find a Marshall. No, thank you! Issues should be handled in house by knowledgeable and friendly staff, not disregarded.

Second, there's plenty of green space and a great big hill to run up and down for those who have extra energy. Third, there are two separate playgrounds. The one uphill is great for the bigger kids. It has a larger play structure, a climbing wall, a slide, and a basketball court. The one downhill is great for the littler ones. It has a small play structure, a great little "bus" for kids to play in, some ride-on toys, and some swings. What's more - there are bathrooms, 2 picnic pavilions, and a water fountain. You can get to the park two different ways: 600 S. Sparks St. (upper playground) & 901 Westerly Pkwy (lower playground). We usually park in the Westerly lot, which is right across the street from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
