On campus, there are numerous locations to workout, but none actually have windows that you can actually see outside. Here at Rec Hall, there are huge windows that let you see North Atherton, although there isn't much to see, at least you can see sunlight. Now with all gyms at PSU, there is a ridiculous crowd. You're most likely going to be waiting for machines, and squeezing by a bunch of people just to get from one spot to the next. Sure, I've looked outside of campus to see if I should be joining somewhere else with less of a crowd. After checking out all the gyms in town, it's still better to go with the gyms on campus. The equipment is newer, and is actually maintained. At places like North Club, sure there isn't much of a crowd, but the equipment is pretty old too. Although the equipment is nicer, my gym experience isn't any better. Because there are so many people here at most times, this places get so stuffy and smelly. At a normal gym, I can run a mile and maybe break a light sweat. Here, after a mile, I look like I've been running a 5k because I am drenched in sweat. More or less, I am working out in a sauna. Rec Hall is the nicest gym on campus to get a workout. There are huge windows and new equipment. Sure, the other ones are larger, but they are also a little older. Plus, you're basically working out in a basement. On the downside, the ventilation at Rec Hall is pretty bad, and the gym starts getting humid and sweaty. If only they could actually turn up the A/C or at least open up a window or two. Want to avoid the crowds? Then don't come here between 5pm-10pm. Go when everyone else is in class so that you can actually get a peaceful workout in.

This park has gotten a recent face-lift, as it gained a new play structure in the summer of 2013…read more It was the result of a joint venture between a non-profit (KaBoom!), the Pennsylvania Municipal League, and State College - built with the help of 175 volunteers, and with the inspiration from kids' drawings! This is a great place to visit if you have active kids, especially if they love to climb. There are all sorts of ladders & tunnels to climb, plus some of the longest slides in State College. The play structures for the younger & older kids are right next to each other, so the kids were mostly running back & forth between them, rather than staying on the structure that was designated for their age group. The other cool thing in this park is an updated merry-go-round. Kids either climb inside and ride that way, or they hang from the ropes/bars, but regardless of how they ride - it seems like fun! The original play equipment is still there, so there are still a few swings just across the field from the new park. Orchard Park is huge - it covers nearly 20 acres, and includes a walking/bike path, basketball & tennis courts, soccer fields, an amphitheater, picnic areas, ... and bathrooms (right next to the older playground.) To reach the new play area, just drive a ways down Bayberry Dr. (from Blue Course), and the playground is right behind the parking area. Buyer Beware: this place has unfair "contracts" that lock you in to pay for services that you won't…read moreuse. On MULTIPLE OCCASIONS my credit card was overcharged without my permission. If you sign up for a "special", then you're locked in to a contract that has no savings for the customer at all. Don't think that you're getting a deal... Because you're not. And trying to cancel a contract with them is worse than canceling a cellphone contract. They sent me to collections but luckily I caught it before it affected my credit. RIDICULOUS. How are you going to send me to collections for services I never received? (Again, you basically need an attorney to try and cancel their contract.) The owner then proceeds to tell you that he doesn't deal with the payment system.... Which is a total cop out because clearly he does deal with the payment system. I've trained in many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms around Pennsylvania and this one by far has the most ridiculous payment system I've ever heard of. No one should be forced to pay for training that they didn't receive. I'm still trying to get my $40 bucks back from "late fees" they charged me with.... I chalked it up as a loss, but I'm writing an honest review because I've yet to see my refund from the "Payment Company" this is not how gyms should be run. Buyer Beware.

They are in a really good central location for the North East region. Very easy to find. If I lived in the area, this would be my home away from home. They are always bringing in quality martial artists for seminars and stand alone as a great place to train. I look forward to more visits in the future.
