The elevator has a 4-person limit and going over that will cause the elevator to become stuck and beep very loud (which is so sketchy). The permit listed on the elevator expired in 2023 as well. It's always lively and bustling with younger AND older generations of Koreans plus plenty of non-Koreans looking to explore the culture! As someone who has lived in Koreatown his whole life, this place is a pillar of Korean-American culture. By the way, cell reception is completely non-existent in many areas of the mall including H-Mart and the food court. Restrooms are on the first floor.

If they have to do maintenance, they should avoid doing so during such busy hours. + Nicole's Coffee Shop was kind enough to validate my parking without me buying anything. I decided to support their business anyway. - The food court is very limited on hydrating, healthy drinks. I had barely walked around inside the Plaza for 15min when suddenly all the lights went out. Inside H-Mart was so dark. I ran outta there. Sunlight still shown through the windows, thankfully. Everyone was confused. I rushed back to my car in the parking garage and booked it outta there. Thankfully the gatekeeper's barricade arm was staying up (so my validated parking ticket didn't matter) so I could drive off quickly before the exit became a bottleneck. Turns out West LA had a blackout... the one time I ever visit LA! Shame, cuz I wanted to walk around Koreatown Plaza a little more before heading to the next checkpoint in my itinerary.

Parking is fairly expensive without validation, and they often validate for two hours. Cost without validation? $2 per 15 minutes with a daily max of $36 I believe... yeah it can be pretty expensive here without validation! But in terms of convenience and what there is, this definitely has its pros / cons.

I legit love coming here because it's just so gorgeous! Clean, always organized, the usual elderly grandpa patrolling around as security looking for those doing wrong, lol! There is a huge parking garage which always has parking. Be sure to get validated and cross your fingers to hope a movie at CGV doesn't get out the same time you want to leave. That's the only downfall of MaDang, exiting at night from the garage is hit or miss. Last night, I got right out! Other nights, been stuck for 45 minutes. So, truly hit or miss. There is SO MUCH good at MaDang. Shopping, eats, the aforementioned coffee shop, bookshops...let me highlight a few favorites: ~ Heuk Hwa Dang - their ice cream and coffee is great, adorabley cute space! ~ H-Mart Supermarket - who doesn't love groceries?! lol ~ Beard Papa - cream puffs are nomz. ~ Daiso - I love deals and Daiso is full of them! ~Sul & Beans - Patbingsu deliciousness to amaze your out of town friends, lol. ~Somi Somi - Ah-Boong, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve - similar to taiyaki and so good. Kpop Music Town K-Pop Store - self explainatory. Jung Kook army bias here. I been rocking with Kpop since Seotaiji and H.O.T. so I'll always be a fan. ~Aladdin Bookstore - friends always want to go here for Korean books while in town. ~Pelicana Chicken - KFC straight from Korea with great happy hour deals. ~CGV Cinema - movies in Korean! The fact that Korean shopping malls exist in KTown is truly dope af. I love MaDang, love bringing my out of town friends, and I'm truly a MaDang regular.

I used to come here often as a kid, and the feel/essence of the place has stayed the same! There's so many different shops ran by hard working and often elderly folks. There's shops that sell kitchenware, clothes, shoes, luggage, art, toys, and even a sewing business. Everything was extremely affordable and the quality of products weren't bad. Some stores look closed, but don't be fooled... this place is large and it's easy to get lost. There weren't many visitors or customers walking around. I do worry about if this place will sustain another generation. I sincerely hope it can stay alive for a long time to come Overall, this is a great shopping plaza that I recommend LA Chinatown visitors to visit.

Since it is almost Tet, there are lots of decor and li xi (lucky red letter envelopes) being sold here. You can get knock off bags like Kipling. There are lots of pajamas, ao dai (traditional Vietnamese clothing) and Chinese outfits. There are kids clothes, shoes, toys and pajamas. The workers sometimes will try to sell or advertise their stuff to you but they're not pushy about it. I came on a Monday so it was empty and easy to navigate. They had t-shirts for $10 for 3 and women's pants for $5. The bad: It can be difficult to find street parking. We got metered parking a few blocks down. The interesting: There are food vendors here too and a spooky restroom with flickering lights.
