The front desk attendant Meeri is so incredibly delightful, helpful and cheerful! She helped my sister and me pick out what to do and places to go giving specific details. Merri deserves her own 5 star review. This review is based on first impressions that I do not anticipate to change. I asked to move and the guy at the desk acted like I was crazy for asking. He gave me a private room but with a lot of hassle. The rest was good, hostel is nice, clean, and close to everything. No wifi in the rooms, and it barely works in common ares.

This was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at in my life. My bed was made up of 50%…read moreplastic and 50% duct tape. My sheets had both yellow and brown stains on them, and are in general an off-white/tan color. The walls have random holes in them, the windows are so grimy that we could barely see out into the sketchy alley way behind the hostel. The room is very dark and there is an enormous spider carcass stuck to the lounge room ceiling, with a live spider eating the dead one! The breakfast here is a piece of bread with jam and a cup of coffee. There is one moldy toilet and two nice showers for all 20+ guests and another 10+ employees. Some of the other guests here included a certifiably insane, emaciated woman who talks to herself constantly, and a man with spiky hair who lurks in the hallway. The doors to our bedrooms do not even have latches or locks, so they do not close fully. The window latches are all broken, so the windows bang open and close with the 50mph winds that blew during our stay.The paint on the ceiling is peeling off in huge flakes. Everything is dirty and gross. The towels feel like sand paper. It does not feel safe! The staff are the loudest of all the guests - they stay up late playing guitar and being rowdy in the living room. I would never ever stay here again.

The hostel serves a French petite breakfast, 7:30 AM. Moreover, I liked the fact that the hostel was closer to the beach than the other hostels located in downtown Marseille. The beaches on the Southern end of Marseille are cleaner and have nice outdoor showers. There was a bathroom and shower and a locker without a lock. They provide breakfast--which was nice! The price for my room was 27Euro per night. The location is ok--near vieux-port (and the metro stop there) and slightly touristy--but, close to less touristy areas--so, not a huge deal. I would most likely reccommend this place, but, would warn ppl that like most hostels--it's pretty bare bones--not bad if you just need a bed and a cheap one at that! Also--free wi-fi--major bonus!!

The only day I stayed in Marseille and I chose this to stay. I understand maintenance for water…read morepipes take time but I waited for water since 12noon for 8 hours right now. They still didn't fix the problem. I could not even flush the toilet or wash my hands. Okay, forget about this. Talking about the cleaning, the cleaning stuffs were not professional at all. Even though we (customers) were in front of them, some of them simply just do not know what cleaning is by hiding all the dust/food crumbs in between the sofa or places that people do not notice. I would not recommend this hotel at all unless you like the location of it. Plus, they asked for €0.75 more for some tax which is already stated on the booking information/email. I don't know if it is a thing or not, but the wall is pretty thin and you can hear clearly from the other room in your room.

It's pretty cheap considering the location, but it's…read morenoisy and they charge extra for breakfast/coffee and there are various other inconveniences that add up to making me wish I had splurged and gotten something just a TINY bit nicer. You get what you pay for, I guess. Some details: My room smelled strongly like cigarettes even though there are "no smoking" signs everywhere. It also got lots of noise from a cafe just outside the window. The stairwell smelled like mildew. The tap water smelled like sulfur. I wouldn't drink it. And my shower sprayed water all over the floor. I couldn't figure out how to avoid this, and I'm not an idiot, I swear. So I guess I should have brought sandals or something, since I don't really want to get my feet all wet every time I use the bathroom.

I called he hotel to get a ride from the airport and the woman said 5 min it will be there. I went outside to wait and the hotel van was outside with no one in it. The front desk lady hung up on me. 5 min to 11 2 women came out of the airport and jumped into the van I flagged them down and got a ride. I walked in and stood at the desk and instead of greeting me the front desk lady picked up the phone and made a call. WTH!!!!
