So the story goes, I have been frequenting Marche Jean Talon for years and I noticed a few weeks…read moreago that the first crop of summer strawberries was in. I purchased some for $12 for a smaller 2L type basket where I was feeling a bit gouged! On the box they were indicated they came from Fraisebec which is right near my house (but I had never visited). So one fiery hot summer Saturday in June we decided to go check this place out. For the record it's 12 min from my house which is awesome point #1. Awesome point #2 is the fact that it is $8 for a 3L basket which you can stuff as many strawberries in as physically possible. Basically if you pile them up strategically you can put around 4L per basket. The terrain for U-Pick is quite large and it's a nice feeling to be out in the country especially in the summer. Doing the crab crawl for strawberries may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's a great family activity with young kids. The day we went we got there around 10 am. *****Pro tip #1 if you want the wide open fields to yourself go early in the morning. They did have hay in between the strawberry patch as it was a bit muddy. ******Pro tip #2 Rubber boots or old shoes recommended as it can be quite wet mud. I did notice there was an outhouse if you need a restroom pause. No issue for guys. If this is not to your fancy then head to the washroom before or work to refrain from liquids. If you can't handle it there is a Tim Hortons and McDonald's just off the 640 in Terrebonne 10 min away. Overall we will be back as we had a great experience. Great value and tasty strawberries!

You will only get sunburnt on weird place and be uncomfortable really soon. Plus the place risk to be crowded with other people like you, in near boiling point. Go on an almost rainy day with good footwear and you will have an open field you for you. For a small fee you have a bucket and you are let loose to go and strawberry picking. You can obviously stuff your face, but I would recommend to fill your bucket and then eat. Otherwise you risk to eat now the pretty one and then because you had your fill just grab some ugly one just to get out. My only complaint is pretty major: You only have access to porta potty. I just can't even. When I went, it was really clean and sentless. However in the middle of the summer with a bundle of kids. That are going to touch their food after. The location makes it almost impossible to go at a nearby McDonald's. Call me Miss Fancy Pants, but I just can't give a 5 star to a place with chemical toilets.

One of my favourite places to go to in the fall. Although they are open year round Quinn farm gets…read morethe most amount of people during autumn We had planned a family outing to pick apples and pumpkins. Because of covid you need to buy tickets ahead of time and you get a time slot to go enjoy the farm. The entry fee is 10$ per person. Once you arrive you get a bracelet and can pick up any prepaid bags for you apples or you can pay for them there. You can then check out some of the farm animals or let the kids use the slide and climb around the play area. Once your ready to pick the apples or pumpkins or even corn, you hop on the tractor and then pick your stop to get off at when they announce what fruits/veggies are available. You get to pick them and take them home ! They have washing stations for the veg as well. Once your done wait for the tractor to pick you up and head back home and bake your heart away !

Once you're in the farm, you can go see some cute farm animals. There is also a big kiosk where they sell products made in-house, those are extremely overpriced! A truck brings you to a pumpkin patch. There are various kinds of squash and pumpkins, all priced very fairly. There was also apple picking available, but that is also overpriced. It costs $11 for a little bag, which is 3 to 4 dollars at the grocery store! Perhaps bringing the price down would entice people to buy more. In general, it's a nice farm with very friendly workers. A great place to go with your significant other, family, friends, kids, anyone! You just have to choose what you want to purchase.

Visiting from Scotland and I had never been apple picking before so this was such a fun and cool…read moreexperience, we got driven to the Apple trees and orchards in a wagon and then free to roam and pick from a variety of different apples including gala apples, Mackintosh and Lobo amongst many more. Lobo apples are delicious! There's ladders for those hard to reach apples and plenty of children's parks around and even a little farm with goats and chickens so a great day out for all the family!

If you go during peak apple picking season in September, expect to find large crowds everywhere! If you go in the beginning of October, it is much less crowded and you may even be able to find an available ladder in the orchard. I personally prefer visiting in the first two weeks of October since you can pick Cortland apples as they're the last type of apple to ripen and they keep really well. In September, it's too early for them and they're usually very small and unripe. What to know about visiting during covid is that you're not allowed to eat the apples in the orchard but then again, there's no enforcement of it so people do so anyway. There are lines to go into the boutique and bistro but you have the music of the live band to keep you entertained while you wait. They make some sought after apple donuts and the best place to pick up the donuts are at the Bistro. You can get them fresh out of the fryer and it's 6 for $13.75. They're not as appley as I had hoped, rather they're very doughy and cinnamony. They're best eaten fresh. We warmed them up in the oven the next day but not as good. So my advice is to get what you can eat immediately. If you want honeycrisp apples, those are available outside the boutique already picked, available in 3 sizes: 3lb, 5lb and 10lb. You can also buy other pre-picked apples and mini sour apples. There's a very tall sour mini apple tree located at one of the intersections in the orchard and the kiddies love eating them. If you're going during peak season, go early because the crowds swell as the day progresses. There's tons of parking around so that part isn't a problem. Since they're open year round, you could save the visits to the boutique for another time and avoid the crowds.
