I attended Campus Langues for a week to take French. During this week, I had the chance to sit in…read moreboth Catherine and Sylvain's class, and I found both to be superb teachers. I loved their positive and energetic attitudes! I especially appreciated the fact that Sylvain often went off topic or too deep into a topic, which gave students the opportunity to listen to "real life" French, and not just textbook/classroom French.
I also really appreciated the fact that they did not speak anything other than French in class, which really forced the students to use the language, and I also really liked the format of the class; they both followed a textbook and the class was well structured. I once enrolled in an Alliance de France course in the US, and it was so disorganized (no textbook, no syllabus, no handout or homework, nothing) I didn't benefit from the class at all, so I was glad that Campus Langues was not the case.
In terms of the other reviews complaining that the business does not cater to all students' specific needs, I would say if it is what you seek then you should attend a real university course where semesters are definite and registration is limited to ensure everyone starts and ends at the same time so no excuses. Campus Langues' ability to accept students at anytime means that students should be aware and ready to jump into material being studied at the time of their joining the course. That is the the purpose of the online test pre-registration, and if students feel they were not adequately placed, then there is always the opportunity to switch, as I did, or better yet, take a one-on-one course.
The only cons I would say were that the individuals who sat in offices and who I did interact with were nasty (did not appear to be happy to be at work) and, Campus Langues does overbook classes, unfortunately. Not sure if this is a miss in their registration process or if they simply ignore capacity limits but, something to be aware of; however, the teachers did make a great effort to ensure all students had the opportunity to speak during class. An additional comment is that I did hear from other students that not all teachers cared as much as Catherine and Sylvain and were short and mean in their methods, especially if subbing.
Overall, even if I only attended for a week, I really felt I benefited from the class and would definitely recommend.
