Centralia's Foundation Park is home to one of the finest disc golf course complexes in the country. It contains an 18-hole "championship" course that rivals any elite course in the nation! It's a great variety of distance, scenery, and skill. There are 2 pin placements, and 2 tee boxes, with the 'red' tees having concrete pads, just recently poured. This course just ranked #32 in a nation-wide poll, and that was before the concrete pads were installed! The 'red' tees come in at 7,776 feet, with the blue tees being well over 9,500 feet.
Across the street resides a "recreational" 9-hole course that is beginner friendly, and is responsible for getting hundreds of people into the game, including myself. It's beginner friendly, but still no "walk in the park," no pun intended. It still comes it at over 2,600 feet from the red tees to the 'A' placements. There's also 2 pin placements, and 3 sets of teeboxes. Concrete teepads will be poured for the 'red' tees this fall. Also, an additional 9 holes will be added very soon, involving an island green on the pond at the park!
The park and the courses are maintained extraordinarily well by the park's superintendent, and the local disc golf club. To see more about it, visit the club's website, http://www.centraliadiscgolf.com, and their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/centraliadiscgolfclub . If you're a disc golfer, this course is an absolute MUST to play, whether you're in the area or not. It's well worth any drive! read more
