I had an appointment with the Culinary dept. It wasn't difficult to find using my GPS. Keep in mind though that if you plan to make it here and you don't have a pass through the gate, you'll be sent to the visitor center. My appointment was 1:00pm and 10 mins before my appointment, the soldier at the gate directed me to the visitor center which it was approximately 10 mins away. Would've been nice to be warned about this before hand. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't have any connections to a military background. Anyways getting to the destination wasn't difficult with a GPS. The parking was typical and there were at least two structures. I didn't observe if there were more. But I got lost and I was directed into second building. The school is pretty equipped. Clean and well maintained. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. I finally met the person I was suppose to meet. She was very nice and kind too. In the end, I wasn't able to enroll into their culinary school. Because I couldn't apply financial aid or apply to their grants. Financial aid - I will get denied because I already have a degree and grants are only for military background. Oh well - I can still take the classes but it would be approximately $300 per class. Yah ok - I have to find other ways to learn culinary cooking. read more

You can't even enroll in their GED program online as their website tells you to. I had to go there to talk to someone because they don't answer their email or phone. The person I talked to gave me their email and informed me they would email me info for the date of the orientation for the program... and then they never emailed me that info. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The science department is TERRIBLE and the Dept Head is no better. There are some professors that truly care about their students but the vast majority seem to only be there for a paycheck and nothing more. The early college program is great for high school students but terrible for adults who are actually only in college. The high schoolers are intermixed with adults and if the instructor can't keep their attention, it's over. They seem to just pull unqualified, unequipped instructors from their normal classes for other classes at the last minute to teach when they don't have anyone qualified to do it. I paid out of pocket for courses where I learned absolutely nothing. I wouldn't waste your time, money or frustration on this place. It's a joke. read more

Update, I have now been a student at CTC for about 6 months living in the Morton Hall Dorms, it's been a great experience. I cannot comment on the cafeteria because I've never had the food ever! But it is nice and clean, if you're ever looking for a college then I'd recommend coming to CTC, just talk with Academic Advising and get yourself setup for success. read more

When you have no choice, you must take the bad with the good. I am an educator in KISD. I went to two outstanding colleges in my home state. What is outstanding? 1- Great professors who care, communicate, are timely, and are EXPERTS in their field of study. 2- Counselors who have direct call lines, answer and/or return calls from students who have concerns. 3- Department heads who have a system through which concerns/complaints about INCOMPETENT professors can be reported. My daughter goes to CTC. I give them the following grades on my 3 criteria: 1- F COVID. Remote learning. I get it. No excuse for horrible communication. Papers and evaluations are sat on for days and weeks at a time. Emails sent are not answered for days and days. No phone number to call. 2- F You can't get through (in a timely manner) to any course counselors at this college. Wait, wait, and wait some more. Back in my day you called the main office and get transferred to a human in minutes. 3- F Does this college even HAVE department heads? As a professional educator I know that if I have a concerned parent they simply need to contact my ultimate department head, the principal, and I will surely hear about it that very day. If there is an issue on my part, I'd be directed to FIX IT. At CTC it seems like there is no leadership and no accountability. If you are willing to put up with the faults of this flawed institution, you will come away with an associates degree. That paper alone is worth the hassle. But Temple College or some other remote learning college might be a better option. read more

I have been trying everyday for the past 3 weeks to get into contact with someone from CTC. Anyone. I've tried every email- every phone number- every single form of contact you could have with CTC regarding classes for my major. However, as expected. Not a single person has gotten back to me. 3 WEEKS. I've had to of called 100 times at least and sent 10 emails back to back. Nothing. A ghost town. Honestly, i'm done with this school. Central Texas College are liars, and they are only there to steal your money. They do NOT care about their students!!!!! I signed up to take an online course last summer. Some family problems that caused me to be severely depressed happened, so I dropped the class on the 2nd day. Central Texas College demanded that I pay for the class, even though I only attended one class. As a person with very low income, this was extremely upsetting to me, especially because i couldn't afford it and I was already going through a major nightmare with the situation with my family. Central Texas College did NOT care and they demanded that I pay them or they were going to send my account to a collections agency. So I called them and set up a payment arrangement that I couldn't afford. I ended up having to pay them more than I owed them. I paid my debt to this pathetic, uncaring college in December. Apparently, my account was sent to a collections agency when I was told that it wasn't. And even after I paid off that debt to them that I shouldn't have had to pay in the first place, they STILL did NOT remove my debt from the collections agency, even though I was assured that it hadn't been sent to a collections agency in the first place. Again, Central Texas College does NOT care about their students, all they care about it getting more money from their students, even if the students can't afford the debt that they shouldn't have had to pay in the first place. They are compulsive liars who will destroy your life, even if you're already severely depressed!!!!!! My son and I are having to move from a 2-bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment and into a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment because these jerks destroyed my credit and I'm unable to get help buying a home from any company that supposedly helps low income families buy a home. read more

Cheap!!! $90 a credit hour isn't bad. I recommend looking around for a book if you can. Some books you have no choice. Check out rate my professor when picking classes. If your nice people will usually help. The only thing is some "self paced classes" are not truly self paced and teachers take off for "late work". read more

I have had nothing but trouble with this school. "For students of the real world." Is far from accurate. Students of the real world don't have a an entire day to waste to wait to speak with an advisor who doesn't even provide all the information. I have been here for hours and after trying to certify with the VA just to be told 2 of the class I selected they can't pay for, that's something the counselor should have informed me of before wasting my time. I got a bill from Ctc saying I owed them money even though the ID number on the statement didn't belong to me and they wouldn't tell me what it was for. Having to take off and entire day of work and drive an hour to put up with the unorginization of this place is frustrating. read more

They have the ABSOLUTE worse science program. They make it impossible to learn effectively: 1. The lecture portion is taught by a separate teacher than the lab portion. They apparently implemented this because of COVID-19 restrictions? Don't get me started on how tuition went up because of it too -_-. 2. Each instructor teaches the material differently. Meaning.... 3. You have DOUBLE the amount of work and ALL online by the way (so you are pretty much teaching yourself because they rush through the materials) 4. I have informed my instructors that their method of teaching is hard to follow and they surely enough did not give a care in the world (BOTH instructors again for one course) 5. DO NOT bother with e-text books if you need to take a science here. They will refuse to update their syllabus to reflect e-text portions (page numbers aren't available with some e-text). Keep in mind they suggested buying the e-text book. So I basically ended up paying for both the e-text and the hardcover text. 6. Oh did I mention that each instructor for ONE science course, will administer separate tests? So yeah, you can expect to have twice as many exams as well. (ie. I have a set of exams for lecture and a set of exams for lab). HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PROGRAM THEY HAVE GOING HERE. You're better off taking all of your courses at the Texas A&M - Central Texas and paying more there. At least there you will get real instruction and might actually learn something that will stick! read more

Ok, so this is an update on my journey through CTC. I thought I would go into depth with the courses taught here and their instructors. I feel like reviewing community colleges is important BECAUSE most people can choose between temple and ctc. First, let me say that I am a pre-nursing student and almost all of my classes have been in the science building. Personally, I have enjoyed most of my classes so far. How the classes are taught and what you get out of that particular class will almost depend solely on your instructor. Let me say this: good instructors will be a hit or miss. The best advice you can receive is from students that have previously taken the classes you need. Know which professors are better than others and go off of that. Now, let me speak on the administration side of CTC. I recently went up to the nursing building and spoke with their "front desk secretaries." I was not surprised with the very uncomfortable and rude encounter I had with them. It seems as if all of the administration/business side of the college employees hate their jobs and they take it out on the students. Fair enough. I would probably hate my job too if I was asked the same question 100 times a day by students. read more

Went here before transferring to a University. Great people, but it is extremely easy to pass here. I never opened a book and made straight As. I have a feeling businesses will not take a Degree from this School seriously. Other than that, they are nice to build up for a transfer to your Bachelor Degree. read more

I honestly don't know where to start. I am writing this review in behalf of my daughter I do not know for the life of me how this school gets people records messed up and tries to add classes when the student tries to apply for the next semester, and then tells them oops we messed up so you need to apply in the last two weeks of school and you might not have any classes available by then. Terrible counselors and i mean terrible as well as the advisors. Don't get me started on some of these teachers, it would be nice if some of them would actually teach. Poor teachers. No support from anyone there. Why would anyone waste their time here. Planes are old and staff is tired and lazy.

Less than ok school. One thing I have noticed, most of the staff does not care, and are not willing to help if you don't understand something and very few are professional about their jobs. The staff acts like they do not care. And the book store staff? Impossible to get ahold of. Admin staff? Literally impossible to get ahold of by phone. For instance on staff not caring: I had a math teacher who did literally nothing but gossip for half the class about former student and current staff. When you asked for help, her response " you should know how to do this" or " I'm not explaining it again". Not to mention 80% or the time she showed up 15-20 minutes late. Ended up failing the class and had to retake the class. And she didn't tell us about the lab until the end of the course. hope this professor got fired. She was asked once to help a friend of mines son in math, and she made the statement " if he does it this way, or doesn't understand this at all, he will be taking me in college, because he will fail math". Needless to say she was fired from teaching the friends son. I honestly hope the bitch got fired or quit and stopped teaching. The second time I took the class: foreign lady sweet as can be, but did not teach math very well, and taught the class in 30 minutes instead of taking the full hour and half. 90% of the kids I spoke with that took her failed. Ended up failing again. Most of the professors you pass in hallways going to another class have the biggest frown on their face like they resent their job. Trying to call admissions or the book store you have to call a million times. You leave a voicemail they never call you back if you leave a number. They best way to get in touch is by email or in person. read more

I don't know transferring from an Active Duty Soldier to a civilian. I just want a peace of mind to know how many transfer credits do I have so when I start taking classes I will have a time frame how long it will take me to graduate. Every single college I know offer this. I spoke with the lady in Student Services Representative name "Neal" she is very rude. I'm active duty soldier. My job teach me how to take someone out. I don't ever disrespect people on this level. I did customer service prior to joining the service. Like, I'm spending my money to come to your school at least give me respect. Its to early in the morning to have that kind of rude personality to your students or future students over the phone. I have a bad feeling about going to this school now, I can give another school my money. Customer Service is everything. Central Texas College aviation department is a bit of a joke. Staff is made of former students who never evolved from high school and "click" mentality. Their fleet is aging terribly and poorly (constant maintenance issues that don't get fixed in a timely fashion- note: not the mechanics fault, but lack of management support. Don't be fooled by their galleria of prizes and tenth place ribbon mentality. They are in the junior college category so competition is limited... I have met many alumni from there who explained to me that the program is a mere shadow of its past glory (yes, it was great 20 years ago). The key here is 20 years AGO. ;-) Management is inexistent and students get the short end of the stick. Beware that if you do not belong to their elitist (only in their eyes) group called flight team, getting your training done will be that of a second or even third class citizen. They count on the military / veterans who have access to GI bills and financial aid (surely deserved by the way, Thanks Troops!) to finance their little club organization. They don't care if you finish as long as you bring in the bacon so that their flight team members can fly... Also, if you're under the illusion that you are going to be able to get things done "in time", don't. Maintenance issues, politics, favoritism will always delay your progress. And if you want your multi engine training, good luck! That 310 spends so much time in the mechanics shop that I thought it was a museum piece (well, it is because if it's age anyway) Academically speaking, students of all levels have reported the inadequacy of class material and the "out of touchness" with modern aviation. Always remember that they do not teach you the gospel there (even though they think so themselves). Staff only knows the real world through feedback from former students who tell them "stories", it's not first hand knowledge and experience! The senior staff is always sitting on their butts and are VERY good at shooting the breeze. They love to chat around and crack sub-par attempts to jokes that only "inbreds" understand. Safety record is so far OK but it's because an incredible amount of close calls do not get reported because legally, they don't have to be. The complacency culture, especially when it comes to the use of radios, is a problem with other tenants and students of other local schools and instructors. Issues have been reported to management who is more preoccupied in keeping things hushed rather than having a "safety" meeting or other practical ways of dealing with this hazardous environment. Especially if it's one of the "protégés" whom they've been grooming for many years I hope you get the picture: if you are serious about your aeronautical experience, training and education as a future professional, don't go their. I received my degree here and I have few complaints. I attended part-time over the course of several years. I am Happy I Was able to see this school go through the transformation so far. My only complaint here are the prices of books. Each book is good for a year or two, then a new edition comes out. You then have to buy mostly new. I'm sure all colleges do this but it is aggravating to say the least. read more

English 1301 & Aviation Department. Professors at this school are rude, I was embarrassed three times in front of the classmates for just asking a question or an opinion. Recently stopped at their aviation fixed wing department to ask about their degree program, when asked the two men did nothing but say " I don't know" not even stood up to greed. how can you not know the degree offered! For any future interested aviation or want to attend campus, this is school has too much to learn. This degree will not give you any future, why only take a student to commercial certification when you need extra certification CFI or CFII to even get a job, the extra certifications will Come out of your pocket. I only need two more lab sciences and I'll be done however after speaking with someone on the phone at the college I've decided to not attend. As a Veteran this is one of the worst schools I've ever seen all they want is your GI Bill money. Let me break it down. Signing up: lost my paperwork and disapproved it because the business office after applying in November and starting in May hadn't even processed all of my paperwork. I left emails and called and her voicemail was too full to even leave one so I complained. Webadvisor: I'm great friends with the webadvisor IT because the weather has to be right or you need to constantly change you browser engine. So far Bing is the best. Resigning up for more classes the lady forgot about me and my 2 year old for an hour until I checked, I stayed longer because I thought I was gonna have more issues Online classes: if you do online you need to decide at the very least 3 months in advance because the book store is crap. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!! Go up there and get your books or you'll never get them. It says 1-3 business days and it's been 2 weeks. Reason why I'm trying to drop these two classes online because the teacher advised me too ADVISED ME TOO. So as I'm trying to drop these classes I email the IT Guy for eforms they're not to bad okay but the have this automated response. But they send a reset email password to my Army account. My school email account where I get all my stuff from school is gmail so how in the world did you mess this up? So I called the IT guy and I was on mute somehow this isn't the first time I've been on mute. Only go to this school if you have VOCREHAB other then that this school isn't for you if you're a veteran or a civilian. Just don't. read more

I am try to become an online student, and attempting to get my TSI hosted by another college, I have done all the leg work trying to get someone to host this simple assessment, but it's been a road-block on CTC's part, so far I've been met with staff that has been either unhelpful, rude and/or condescending, and that's is if they even answer their phone! why must you hire folks that are mean-spirited and unprofessional is beyond me. A VERY BIG WASTE of time ... and the staff is horrible. Very rude teachers that will not take the time to help you understand the material and in the Financial Aid office they are even worse. The actual classes are fine but the process of registering is exhausting. Admissions never answers the phone. They take A YEAR AND A HALF just to put basic things into the system so you can register for classes. I had a lady get upset at me because she didn't do her job.
