    Entrance off Route 66

Driving on the old route 66 was a great experience, hoping to reach Texas but the sun set quickly and I needed a place to sleep, too close to Oklahoma City I was afraid I'd only encounter hotels. Drove by this state park right on old route 66(a few miles before Pops on the left), looked perfect. Ranger booked the campsite for $19, right on the lake. Yeah, that means some bugs, but if you're good none will be in your tent(light OFF while setting up!) Not much between you and your neighbor so will hear their noise/partying/moans of pleasure. I may have had moans of pleasure on my own as well, the sky was full of stars - AMAZING. And if you pick a spot close enough to the lake you'll hear Frogs as you drift off to sleep. nature sounds. Shower was a short drive away and quite meager, but it worked. Bathroom was much closer, lots of woods/trees

The view is nice and you can get in the water. We made the mistake of going in the first entrance (Edmond Park) and the guy failed to mention the restrooms were out of order. Central State Park is further east (1/2 mile) and has showers, I recommend going there. It's a little bug busy since you're near the water but not too bad.

This 194 acre spot is one of the best kept secrets in the OKC metro area. A trip to Lake Arcadia can be a modest affair, staying in the car driving through the park around sunset, maybe walking out on the dock watching the sun fade away for the day, or it can be an all day adventure with boating and picnics and barbecues. Early on in 2020 we realized we needed to renew our park pass for Lake Arcadia as we could see this may be a loooong year (boy, we were right on the money). Eighty dollars will get a vehicle in the park for a year if you are an OKC resident. Edmond residents can buy a year park pass for a 20% discount per year (about $64 dollars). This gets you unlimited entry into the park. I'd highly recommend it. I've always said one of my most favorite parts of living in Oklahoma has been the celebration in the sky at the end of daylight ringing in that night is upon us. I'm not from Oklahoma and I will say that the sunsets here are second to none. This park, especially the dock facing west next to the boat ramp is one of my most favorite places to watch the relay of the daylight sun passing into the Southern Hemisphere. Just as dusk settles in wildlife really begin to peek out from the woods. If you have kiddos and can manage to work in a drive through Arcadia at dusk, they'd love to see all the deer (definitely deer), and maybe turkeys, cranes, eagles, scissor-tailed flycatchers, and hawks that come around when most of the all-day lake goers have left for the day. Treat yourself to a sunset here and learn why it's worth every bit of $80 to get to come here as often as you want. October 2020

This particular part of the lake Arcadia park system is to the south west of the lake. Today, my infant son and I enjoyed the relatively new spring creek trail. This trail was so nice! It is a multi-use completely paved trail. It is wide enough for walkers to have their own designated lane as well as cyclists their own. Out and back this trail is a good easy 5 miles. It is amongst the trees with glimpses of the creek every. Ow and then. If you want to be a bit more adventurous, get off the beaten path. Yes, go explore those unpaved wild looking hiking trails that branch off from the path most taken. Although this trail is all I enjoyed today, there are many nice shaded picnic tables and grills that could make a great location for a get together. There is also a disc golf course here, although I'm not sure how often it is used. There were several people fishing in this area too. There are lots of ways this park can help you enjoy nature. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!

There are several spots to camp, which is what we are primarily interested in seeing. There are four parks that make up Arcadia Lake as a whole. Central State Park, Spring Creek Park, Scissortail campground, and Edmond Park. We started at Central State Park and then quickly moved onto Edmond Park. We were more impressed by what we saw at Edmond Park vs what we saw at the larger Central State Park. The campsites definitely have more space and a more private feel to them. And some of them are safely located near the water. Each campground also has bathroom facilities, although they weren't super clean (it's a campground so they are never immaculate) and they did smell. Each site has parking, one cement table, a fire ring and trash cans. My husband and I both feel that the sites here are more pleasant because they have more trees, they are more spacious and they have more grassy areas.

We stayed in Scissortail and because of the awesome Camp Host, Carrie, ended up with the best spot in the campground for our first trip. It had amazing views of the lake and the sunset! The only downside I have is I really wish they did a reservation system, so you could book a spot, or know when one is coming available. It is difficult to drive all the way out there not knowing if you can get a spot.

Our spot would always be at pine grove and would go fishing in their crappie pond and were thrilled when they added the new sand beach. Now in 2025, they have made our spot (Pine Grove) where me and many other families have always taken our spring break, fall break and other week vacations at and "annual only site" and closed it off. We thought okay that sucks but we can try out the others sites. We decided to try out Beaver Cove and that has been a MAJOR disappointment. The sites look like they have not been tidied up in who knows how long and their bathrooms are unclean and do not have any soap ever! No decent swimming/fishing areas around it. And ticks everywhere! You would figure if they decided to close off pine grove they would fix up the non-annual spots but no! Seems to be more about the money considering there are more annual spots than non-annual and they are better taken care of. After 11 years of camping here we have decided to look elsewhere to camp. So so so disappointed!!!!
