In March 2023 I parked at this garage, used the onsite QR code to submit payment and stayed less than an hour. A month later I received a letter from Parkway Corp saying I had to pay $95 or it would refer my transaction to a collection agency. I followed up by phone and was reassured the matter would be resolved. One month later I received a second letter. When I called, the rep said they would settle the matter for $12 ($9 more than the original cost) and would not allow me to speak with a supervisor. Parking Can Be Expensive. This company has predatory business practices. This is the garage I typically use when I go downtown ... which is a few times every month. Anybody that uses the garage knows that you pull in, and then pay the attendant or machine on the way out. We came downtown for a comedy event ... was pouring rain ... and we were running behind my intended schedule. In my haste parking, I totally missed the signs saying "text to park". When we got back to our car 2.5 hours later (rain had passed, weren't in a hurry), I realized my mistake ... promptly pulled out my phone ... and paid for 24 hours (MORE than the listed event rate.) Next morning I have a text telling me to pay $50. I disputed, sent them screen shots where I paid (admitted before I left the garage versus when I pulled in). Next day, got another $50 notice. So I paid these guys. And guess what ... even though online payment is the only method, they charge a $5 online payment fee ... so the total was $55. Soooooo ... never again will I use them or any lot they have in Memphis. And I'll share that info with anyone that will listen. Have the receipts to back up all I've shared. read more

Parking can be fun? Really? Well I guess it can be! This lot is a very easy and safe walk to everything downtown Memphis at much lower rates than lots nearer Beale. Be aware, it is very full most week days with monthly permit holders, but after hours and weekends there are spaces aplenty (in fact go ahead and take a lovely "Reserved for. . . [insert posh name and title here]" after hours to boost your self esteem, they are yours, all yours!) The attendants are friendly, and the lot is well lit and has an elevator. Never a problem here. Okay this is maybe the best kept secret in downtown Memphis. Because, believe me. Parking is not ever fun downtown. Most of the time you drive around forever, looking for an open meter or a garage that isn't full or charging $20 for the night. Well this garage, on Union Ave, just a couple blocks west of the Peabody Hotel, only charges $5. They don't up it on big event weekends either. It's just $5 anytime and all the time. A bargain. And it's centrally located so you are within walking distance of Beale Street, Peabody Place, Main Street and the Trolley line. Now shhhhh.... don't tell anybody. read more

Parking can be fun...just not always here. First off, the attendant is the NICEST human being on the planet. She always smiles and waves and is so, so friendly and outgoing - A+ for customer service. Also, I feel safe parking here by myself and their elevator has a glass window for me to look out in case I get trapped and need to bang on the window for help (I'm claustrophobic...and dramatic). Now for the ehhhh...this place gets full really quickly and you keep going up floor by floor by floor trying to look for an open spot...and then you find one...and you don't fit because their spaces are so tiny. And Heaven forbid someone come down at the same time you are going up because it is one tight squeeze to fit cars in that tiny late side by side. As far as the prices...it isn't that bad except when there is a Redbirds game...which I am never going to so I resent having to pay more. And always check when they close...I've had my car locked in over night before - total nightmare, which resulted me calling my best friend 10 times in a row until she finally answered so I could sleep on her couch. I still prefer Peabody parking but if my destination is closer to this parking garage, I definitely don't mind parking here. read more

I always park here when I visit friends living in the lofts nearby. I suppose I have fun. There is always cheery music being piped through the lot. That's pretty fun, isn't it? Heck, the name alone inspires me to reconsider my previous notions regarding the entertainment value of leaving my automobile in a temporary location for an unspecified amount of time. How can parking ever be fun!? I don't know why they named it so but everyone knows where you're talking about when you mention this oddly named parking garage downtown. The name paired together with the neon lights that catches everyone's attention :) This is where we usually park when we're downtown. It sits on the south end of Union between Main and 2nd. It's relatively cheap; $5 per entry on regular non-event days and $10 on others. Pretty good and easy access all about downtown Memphis - which isn't that gigantic to begin with. It's not huge, but with about 400 parking spots you can usually find a space by the third level on a regular non-event weekend. A few downtown restaurants now offer valet... for double the price, I would certainly go that route if I can... 'coz parking is no fun to me! read more

Parking in a downtown garage isn't, by nature, fun. There's one garage in Memphis, though, that tries just a little harder to bring some joy to the quotidian act of finding a parking space. Parking Can Be Fun is the only garage in Memphis that dares to suggest that a parking garage can be more than concrete ramps and painted yellow lines. At their Union Ave. garage, the elevator doors are painted with colorful portraits of Memphis musicians. The street-facing windows are painted in support of whatever local sports team is in season (currently, basketball season is represented with a U of M Tiger and blueGrizzly bear). Music is piped into the garage. And for some reason, the stairwells always smell kind of like vanilla. Parking Can Be Fun wouldn't be nearly as much fun if it were crazy expensive. I pulled into the garage beside the Rendezvous (Central Parking) and there were several attendants helping with Valet Parking although none offered to help me. It had been a couple of years since I used that garage and my memory was that you either paid the attendant on the way in or the way out. Finally one of the young men said there were slots open on the second or third floor, so I assumed that he just meant for me to serve myself. Never suspected that it was a "prepay the machine- put the ticket on your dash" kind of arrangement. Well I was in a hurry and half expects one of the attendants to be available to take my money- but never gave it a thought. Never saw the signs either - with instruction to pay in advance. I returned to find my car "booted" along with several other cars belonging to the Cadence Bank Banquet August 26th, 2015. We were all patronizing the Rendezvous, about 100 -120 folks. To my utter surprise, the guys with the boots in their pick-ps were waiting like vultures right beside one of the cars they'd captured. My comment was- let me pay the parking fee right now! They said NO. It will be $125! I was humiliated, embarrassed, and totally appalled. What a scam! Between the Rendezvous, Central Parking, and The Valet guys , and of course the grease monkeys they hired to do their collection / u booting work --- I've never felt so taken advantage of in my life! I know that thee is probably no recourse at this point except to point others to this scam- and their scammers. read more

OK, Don't read any further. This is a secret. Last weekend, Beale Street Music Festival, Baseball game, general mayhem, all at the same time, where ya gonna park?? More importantly, how much ya gonna pay? While everybody with a piece of grass that could fit a car was charging $20 and $25 for parking, Parking Can Be fun kept up their standards. They charged $5 to park. That's special events pricing too. Or did you save a couple of bucks and give your money to some homeless guy in front of someone else's lot? There's not much to parking but this lot is great. We always try for a free spot on the street, but if that fails we head straight for PCBF. No worries. Even the people there are reasonably pleasant to deal with. The only reason I knocked off a star was that the stairwell was rather odoriferous and there was some broken glass. This garage was convenient to our destinations in downtown Memphis. The rates are better than nearer to Beale St. At mid morning the place was full until we reached the roof. The lanes and turns are really tight. I was in fear of meeting someone coming from the opposite direction. After parking, things were good until I tried to check out. The machine kept rejecting my ticket as unreadable. On the sixth try, it accepted it and my credit card was charged. It got worse! The machine that raises the gate to release the car would not accept my ticket- unreadable again. I pressed the button to call for help and reached someone whose English was not understandable. I did get " I'll send the attendant". She came down promptly and was so nice and friendly. Noting that I had paid and the ticket wouldn't work, she released the gate. I was so thankful this didn't happen at night when there was no attendant. I would say: Don't park here at night! read more

Parked here on a Friday night at 10:22pm. Returned at 3:12am only to find the place was completely locked up and shut down with my car inside. Signs stated that they were open until 5am on Saturday morning. This was definitely not the case. I contact Parkway Corporation, based out of Philadelphia to voice my concern and mention the fact that it cost me an extra $40 to Under back and forth with no response back. Last time I parked here, my entry ticket slid between my windshield and dashboard, so I had to pay a $20 lost ticket fee. Park at Premier System Parking instead - 110 Peabody Pl, Memphis, TN 38103. Well it's a parking garage. Not too exciting. They do pride themselves on catering to the local events such as Redbird games, Elvis Week, etc. So after checking some street parking out downtown I decided to park here for a Redbirds game. The game was great, but it went a little long (16 innings). When I came back to the garage it was closed. A couple of other people had the same dilemma. Two girls bribed the man at the gate $50 to get their car out. My friend and I decided that our money was better spent at Bardog. Went back the next day and got my car out. I still can't believe that guy charged those two girls $50 to get their car out. I'm sure that went right into the guys pocket. So yes, park here if you want a cheap place to park, just remember, it might cost you more than you think. read more

Maybe its just my techno-centric nature, but not taking Credit Cards for anything, seems alien. I arrived on a Saturday morning at 9:30 and was able to get a first row parking spot. Then I didn't leave until past 6p and they only charged $5. The only thing I didn't like was going back the same direction to exit because the garage is kind of small width wise. This parking garage has live up to it's name and beyond. An adventure is almost always in the works. My girlfriend happened to lock her keys in her car one MIM and we were kind of down, but we get to the garage and spend the next hour with a locksmith who just happened to be parked on the same level drinking beer and eating water melon. Keys retrived pro-bono. This is just one of many fun times I have had in this garage. If I am hanging out down town this is where I park. read more

I live in the suburbs of Memphis and parked here to have dinner at Rendezvous. After we came back from dinner I was shocked to see my car and several other cars booted. there was a yellow sticker on my window asking to call a local number. When I called the number the guy on the other end said I had to pay $125 all cash in order to have the boot removed since I didnt have a parking sticker on my car. There was no signs nor the attendants who mentioned anything about prepaid parking when I pulled in. This is one of the BIGGEST SCAMS IN MEMPHIS. it was especially embarassing since I had out of town friends for the St.Jude Marathon! we finally pooled all our money and paid the dude to have the boot removed.
