Central Park's Winter Wonderland of Lights Festival-Ashland, Kentucky. Growing up, we lived about 30 miles south of Ashland so it was always a treat to come checkout the lights or visit the park.
I had an urge to come checkout the lights this year and talked my Mom into hopping in the car and off we went. It was even larger than I remembered with the event website stating over 800,000 lights on 60+ different displays.
We sang some carols and had a good ole time driving through and around taking in all the lights. It is really something special to check out and had more displays than I remembered from years past.
Central Park itself is a great park and space for Ashland and the surrounding communities. Tons of trees, an old log house (the oldest in the city) and other buildings throughout, with a dog park, and walking paths.
Some highlights are:
-Pond & Fountain
-Picnic tables
-Gazebo
-Public restrooms
-Play ground with slides & swings
-Volleyball court and ball fields
-Dogs & Kid friendly space
It's a great park year round, but really special during the Winter Wonderland of Lights. I may have to make this an annual routine again when I am in town. read more
