Unfortunately, I had to give them a one star because their follow-though is horrible. It took several calls to get someone to come out. Then I get a call that the guy is doing quotes was in my area, I said please come by. The dying tree is in the from yard. He said, Okay, I'll send you an email with a quote. 2 weeks later no quote. I call back and say " I never got a quote' , the person that I talked to apologized and said that for sure she would have the guy call me back. The was over a 2 weeks ago. One of our pine trees died from bark beetles. Central Oregon Tree Experts was able to remove the tree quickly, all of the pine needles and the next week someone came and ground down the tree stump. The gentlemen that came were quick, detailed and very professional! We would use them again if needed. After they were done at our home, they went across the street to our neighbor's home and were able to remove 2 of her trees. She didn't have an appointment with them but asked them when she saw them at our home. She also was impressed by how quickly the work was done and how neat everything looked afterward. read more

Words cannot convey how appreciative we are for Brett and his team. We moved into a new home in early April and noticed quite a bit of fire fuel in the backyard that hadn't been cleaned up in a while. There were dead trees and large bushes that were dried up and ready to burn. Although Brett and his team are busy, he was still able to come out and provide an estimate right away. Moreover, Brett recognized what we needed to be done before we did. His crew was booked out a couple of weeks, but he was able to squeeze us into the schedule to get the dead trees and other fuel removed before fire season sooner. For that, it was a great experience. But then the guy running the stump grinder hit a sprinkler line and tore it up pretty good. Now, technically the Tree Experts aren't liable for that. There's no way they could know where the sprinkler lines are. This particular line was directly under the roots near a stump. I asked Brett nicely if this was something that has happened before and if his guys could assist with the repair. Although he wasn't required to fix it, Brett was nice enough to send over his guy, Clinton to take a look as Clinton was in our neighborhood working on another home. The line was fixed and is now working great. Really appreciate these guys for going above and beyond the quality, fast work they did at such a busy time of year. read more

We had a quaking aspen on a standard city lot that kept sending up shoots. Called CO Tree Experts to have it removed last fall. They removed it without any problem. This spring I have hundreds of small quaking aspens coming up in my yard as well as in the neighbors yard. I started reading online about quaking aspens and everywhere it says these trees need to be killed with tree killer BEFORE they are cut down. This way the tree does not keep sending up shoots. It seems the tree "experts" know nothing about quaking aspens because they never once mentioned this to me. I called the tree company and they said "Yeah, you just have to keep cutting the roots off until they stop coming up. It should only take about 2 years." I'm so DISSAPOINTED in this company. I am not young and it kills my back to get out there multiple times in the growing months and snip all those shoots. I don't know what the neighbors will do, but I feel bad for them. They're elderly also. So advice to all, don't do business with this company, especially if you have quaking aspens. read more

I hired Bret and the boys to limb a ponderosa pine in my yard. Within months the tree started to die. Bret and team added some fertilizer and said lets try that and if it didn't work we would work something out. It didn't work and after weeks of empty conversations with staff and talking with Bret who ended up calling me a Mother F ____ and hung up on me we came to the end of our business relationship. Here are photos and video showing how COTE left my home better than they found it. When I was quoted for a job where they would "rig" up the tree and cable the branches to the street. They decided not upon arrival not to do what I was quoted, in this video pay attention to what they say about "rigging" up my tree. They weren't considered about doing the job well so much as quickly as possible. I paid them on the spot when they finished, and this is what they left behind for me to clean up and deal with. I will more than likely have to fix my own retainer wall, handrail, scratch/ gouge. When I asked the Owner about the damage and quoted the commercial "we always leave it better than we find it" he responded with "well, the tree is down" so my experience was pretty awful. read more

What a great experience! Beautiful trim of 2 large Ponderosas in our front yard. One branch was resting on our neighbor's powerline, another on our roof. First off, I never leave negative reviews online. I own a small business myself and I know how tough it can be and anyone can have a bad day from time to time. But my experience with Brett and Central Oregon Tree Experts was so awful, so unprofessional and has gone on for so long that I need to share the details so that others can hopefully avoid this experience. The original job consisted of removing and trimming many juniper trees and shrubs around our property and providing us with 8-10 aspen trees to create a small aspen grove. We received the bid on Jan 10, discussed a few changes to the scope of work and put a final plan in place. Brett said it was their slow time of the year and that he needed work for his guys so they would come out and get it done over a 2-3 day period right away. On Jan 18, the workers came out for one day of work and got approx. 60% of the job done. By Feb 7, no one had been back to finish so Brett came out and walked the property again with me to see what work was left to do. I had also asked him if he knew anyone who could remove some rocks for us and he said he and one other guy could do that no problem in a day or two. I followed up on the conversation with a text message listing the agreed items to be completed including: stump grinding, removal of all cut wood and rounds, delivery of more aspen trees (we had only received 4), lots of tree trimming and rock piles to be removed. He did not reply to that message so I sent another reminder on Feb 16. He replied that he would "schedule it all next week." Some workers eventually came out to grind a few stumps and trim some branches but still did not complete the full job. Even though the job wasn't done, I paid in full at this time. More weeks went by, and by Mar 21 no additional work had been done so I shot Brett another reminder. He said "I'm planning to come out this weekend." I received a call the next day from Brett telling me that something came up and he would be out of town but would it be okay if he sent a couple of guys over to start removing the rocks and he would finish the rest of the tree work when he got back. I agreed with that plan. When I returned home from work on Thurs, Mar 23, I found that his workers had driven a skid steer over our front gardens, created deep mud tracks all over the native landscape, ground mud into our driveway and even broke a corner of asphalt off the driveway. They left soda cans and other trash behind as well. I called Brett, clearly upset by what I was seeing, and he responded with apologies and promises to come up with a plan to fix the mess as soon as he got back in town on Sat. He did not show up on Sat but called Sun afternoon and came out to see the damage. The following Sat, Apr 1, Brett showed up late in the day to clean my driveway with a pressure washer that was broken, hoses that wouldn't connect and no fuel. He said he would go and get another one from his office. He left his ramps, hoses and broken pressure washer sitting on my driveway, got in his truck and drove away. He never came back that day and never called or updated me. It all sat there for almost 10 days, with no word from Brett. Sometime over the weekend of Apr 8-9 he came and picked up the equipment but did not clean the driveway or do any work. After 3 months of this insanity, I finally threw in the towel on April 10 and told Brett I would be hiring others to finish the tree job - which they completed beautifully within two days - and someone to fix the driveway and clean up his mess. While walking the property with the new tree company, we found many additional stumps that were only partially ground and many tagged trees and branches that had not even been touched. We found more tracks and trenches all over the property from driving heavy equipment over it and oil and fluids that had leaked on the driveway. No one had cleaned up after themselves in any way. What started out as a good winter project turned into a disaster that I am still paying for and cleaning up after. read more

Well I guess they got the tree down. The crew broke allot things around our house and the neighbors house and then up and left without saying anything. The saw used was way to big for the cutter and the tree being cut (460 w/ 32" bar, the tree was only 12" DBH)and cut into our fence.... owner came over never offered to fix anything and suggested a "stain" to fix the SAW cut in our fence again, never offering to fix. As far as the the tree removal, it was good and safe but to fast with no regards to anything other than the tree. read more

They were timely, fast, courteous, professional, well-priced and funny. I'd say this was the Nordstrom of tree removal. There was no mess left afterwards and I barely heard them from my home office. I will be using COTE for all future tree removal needs. The guys even trimmed a tree that was touching the house for free. What a great company and crew! We had a HUGE old ponderosa that was being killed by bark beetles and needed to go. The owner and office staff were great at helping us decide what to do and when would be the best time. On the scheduled day, the crew showed up right on time and got to work. Despite tight conditions due to fencing, a chicken coop, and an outbuilding, they were able to take the tree down safely and right on target. They did an amazing cleanup job and were in and out in less than 6 hours. Very professional and skilled team.
