On a recent trip "May 2018" to Lake Tahoe we spent a day in Tonopah. One of the things we did was to check out this museum. I love old history so I really enjoyed the museum. The entrance is free, although they do except donations. The woman who was working the museum the day we visited was nice and informative. There's so much to see here you could spend hours. So if you love history like I do and want to look at and read everything be sure to set aside two or three hours to check it all out.

Nice little place to learn about the local history. Wish I could have taken some photos inside but it's against the rules. The displays are very interesting it's worth the time to stop in and look around. The staff was very friendly. Only reason not five stars is the no photo policy inside.

Sometimes I need one of these on my property....

Been here 3 of 4 times over the last few years. This time I was with my 3yo and we took a day trip from our ranch in Rachel to Tonopah to do a little looking around. The curator who runs this place is always friendly and she remembered me from the last time I was there a few months ago. This museum has so much, I need to go by myself sometime and spend 4 hours taking my time looking around. My son loved the wooden walkway and went around and around it 5 or 6 times...he could do that all day. I told the curator my son was addicted to trains when we were making small talk, after we went out and explored and came back in she invited my son and I into the library. She had literally pulled 20 pictures of trains for him to look at...amazing...most people wouldn't even bother. This place has a ton of neat books on mining, Nevada and all kinds of special interest books relating to both of those subjects. Dont miss this museum!

Free admission to this museum. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Inside the main building, there are a lot of glass displays, artwork, pictures and exhibits with various items showcasing the history and people of Central Nevada. Near the front of the museum, there are numerous local books (Nevada history, mining, ghost towns) and picture postcards for sale. Outside the building, there are numerous exhibits and displays of various artifacts, wheels, tools, shacks, plants, and rocks, please stay on the walking path. My visit here was very informative.

This was a great little museum. A lot of history and a good variety. The gentleman working there was so nice and knowledgeable. Would come back if I passed through here again

It was the perfect place for the three of us. The history of the mine and all the building was more then interesting. I remember walking into one of the buildings and two barn owls came flying out. Needless to say I was startled. The property over looks all of Goldfield. What a beautiful place. The attendant allowed both of us to roll. We missed but it was fun. The rooms are not modern but the bed was very comfortable. And the floor was quiet. They offer military and senior discounts. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant in the morning. Opens at 6 am. The breakfast offerings are ample for any appetite. We had pancakes, three plate sized pancakes, light and fluffy. Also the eggs and bacon with hash browns, English muffins. Very good coffee. Our server continually checked in on us. We had to stop to tell the chef how good his food is. Don't know how he cooks his bacon but it was amazing. Like ham. Very good start to our day. They have a full lunch and dinner menu with breakfast all day. The hotel casino is decorated old miner style. There is lots of parking and RV spots in the rear. The hotel was $20 cheaper than elsewhere in town. Great stop.

It's been interesting to read reviews of others who have given the place much higher marks. However, there is a realization here that everyone has a different level of standards. Overall, we want a place that's clean and put together. We did not feel that was the case here. In other words, I could probably say it was about the worst hotel room I ever paid for. To begin with tissues from the previous guest were still behind the bed table. We left them there. The mattress spring covers weren't just dirty. It was stained and filthy. It was obvious with the condition of the way the bed was made and cords that there was no proper training on anything. There was a refrigerator in the room that when opened the ice had such a build up of ice you knew it had never been checked or cleaned. Moving down to the restaurant ..... the ketchup when turned upside down "clumped" to opening and didn't slide like fresh ketchup. The bottles of other toppings appeared to have also been there a mighty long time without being freshened up. Okay .. what did we order? We ordered two hot fudge sundaes. The hot fudge was lukewarm and clumped... After all, what did we expect? The following morning when we stopped by "Registraiton" to drop the keys off, the clerk was sound asleep in his chair. Evidently, he'd been there a bit as other keys were laying on the counter that had also been cropped off. He did look at me and grunt and then went back to sleep.
