We are learning about minerals and get to see examples too. The minerals are from Nevada and all other parts of the United States . To be a miner what a life? They have what the miners used to wear to stay alive. All the artifacts the people of the area used. So interesting. This is living history. You can see the mines and all the examples of what mining looked like . Wow! Thank you for this opportunity and all the preserved resources and knowledge they have kept alive here.

This is a hidden gem worth stopping to see. The area is spread out with dozens of cars planted…read morenose-first into the ground, creating what looks like an apocalyptic landscape of vehicles that fell from the sky. Many of the cars are covered in colorful graffiti and artwork, which makes the whole place feel like a giant open-air art installation. When I visited there were only a few other people around, so it was quiet and easy to explore. I was even able to get some great drone footage without worrying about crowds. Definitely a unique stop if you're traveling through the area.

Mood - history of course…read more In 2015 The Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad Historical Society was formed. The society was formed with the purpose of preserving the history of the railroad. The model railroad was built to scale of the layout between Ludlow, California and Death Valley Junction. The museum was transported from the Armagosa Opera House and Hotel where it was originally housed. Currently the model railroad is not in operation but it is getting there. As you look at each piece that has been carefully placed know that this is completely to scale. There is even a depiction of a small cemetery. We had such a good time with James and he was very knowledgeable about the mine. It was amazing to literally go back in time and see everything as it was many years ago. If you're ever in Goldfield you want to connect to what things were actually like back then by seeing and hearing about things then the Florence mine tour is your first place to g. James was so much fun as our tour leader and he's just a really nice young man.

It was the perfect place for the three of us. The history of the mine and all the building was more then interesting. There was one time when the owner came up with his two young boys and was showing me all the old buildings and telling me the history. I remember walking into one of the buildings and two barn owls came flying out. Needless to say I was startled. The property over looks all of Goldfield. What a beautiful place. It's been interesting to read reviews of others who have given the place much higher marks. However, there is a realization here that everyone has a different level of standards. Overall, we want a place that's clean and put together. We did not feel that was the case here. In other words, I could probably say it was about the worst hotel room I ever paid for. To begin with tissues from the previous guest were still behind the bed table. We left them there. The mattress spring covers weren't just dirty. It was stained and filthy. It was obvious with the condition of the way the bed was made and cords that there was no proper training on anything. There was a refrigerator in the room that when opened the ice had such a build up of ice you knew it had never been checked or cleaned. Moving down to the restaurant ..... the ketchup when turned upside down "clumped" to opening and didn't slide like fresh ketchup. The bottles of other toppings appeared to have also been there a mighty long time without being freshened up. Okay .. what did we order? We ordered two hot fudge sundaes. The hot fudge was lukewarm and clumped... After all, what did we expect? The following morning when we stopped by "Registraiton" to drop the keys off, the clerk was sound asleep in his chair. Evidently, he'd been there a bit as other keys were laying on the counter that had also been cropped off. He did look at me and grunt and then went back to sleep.

It was really interesting to see the various exhibits that show how the…read morePaiute lived, gathered food, cooked, dressed, and planted (including a garden outside which explains the different plants and how they were used). The exhibit really goes into detail both in the examples and the text. The person working there when we visited was very helpful in explaining everything as well. Be sure to check out the board which tells about many of the events happening around the cultural center. I'm definitely looking forward to going back, especially if there's going to be an event!
