Well after being fed up with no longer being able to fall asleep, I decided to make an appointment. My first session, we went over all of my issues and the goals that I have. Dr. Iqbal immediately brought up how she cannot prescribe benzodiazepines.. who said anything about benzos?? Weird . I am trying to treat CPTSD and have been consistently triggered in the past couple of weeks leading to a very deteriorated mental state. She was asking the questions off the sheet and I know I am not doing well so I told her I think you should select yes for all of them. For some reason this "professional" decided to get catty with me and say really?? You're not moving right now!! Yeah every time I try to stay present I move in some way, not when I'm disassociated (HOW TF DO YOU THINK IVE SURVIVED TRAUMA). I should've learned from how I felt unheard by this practice previously, they do not care and will likely treat you like you're lying and they know SO much better. I wonder why the U.S has such a mental health crisis with professionals like this. Very unfortunate too because literally every other person I interacted with in that office is so so kind , the receptionist was incredibly helpful in directing me to another facility too! But the psychologists will not take you or your concerns seriously. For your own mental wellbeing, go anywhere else. Patients deserve a mental health professional with a stronger emotional capacity than its patients.
