Marcel one of the bartenders although they closed at 11 if we were still enjoying ourselves along with other patrons he would keep the bar open longer; so accommodating. Also there were times I had leftovers that I would wake up wanting and the front desk would warm them up for me. Our room was clean and even when sleeping in it didn't matter that I got up after 2pm they still ensured our bedding was changed and fresh towels. This place is gorgeous bummer that they no longer have the spa and pool on the ground level but I understand it can be pricey to maintain.

She was eating celery sticks, and staring at something on her screen; hopefully nothing obscene, but who can say with these kinds of people? Anyway, she appeared not to have noticed me so I clacked my heels on the floor, and the reverberating echo which rippled through the foyer startled the lass and she quietly screamed. After she had recovered from her shock, she had become angered, and made little effort to conceal it. I told her that I was here for a hotel room and she said "yes I think I figured that part out thanks" before typing with her keyboard. Eventually she assigned me to a room without saying anything else to me, just handing the key card over without another word. The key card was greasy and almost slid out of my hand. That did mean that it slid into the sensor with ease, however, so this I cannot complain about. That being said, I would have probably preferred to have just stayed in the hallway and tried my luck with the mercy of the other guests. The room was about as sanitary as a swamp on a humid summer day, and I tried to make sure that I did not touch any of the surfaces as they looked diseased. The bed had a disturbing morphology and, upon further inspection, I found it's undulating crevices to be distressed. There was also a dead bee in the sink. I put the bee out of the window to decompose in the natural world, but then I could not close the window no matter how hard I pulled. My room had suddenly become an access-all-hours, free-for-all for the opportunists of society. You won't be surprised to learn that I didn't sleep very much on the lumpen, deformed and gravelly mattress. I decided to purchase the breakfast buffet, and went down to the restaurant area wearing a business woman outfit and heels so no one would question why I was dining alone. I should have turned around and sought alternative victuals after glimpsing the wretched nature of the diners. Their levels of physical fitness and mental acuity were subterranean, which reflected poorly on the breakfast foods. The scrambled eggs were fibrous, and the coffee that I had been so foolish as to sample tasted as if it had been brewed in a nuclear reactor. I knew at this point that I needed to get out of the hotel as soon as possible and never return.

This is duplex suite with a Very large King size bed featuring a stunning Veuve Clicquot, back-lit display headboard. Intimately designed in rich earthy tones with a separate lounge area and 42 inch plasma TV. Upstairs in the bathroom you'll find twin roll top baths and a walk-in monsoon shower. I admit the rooms may be slightly pricey but the luxury of this suite is worth every penny! As the complimentary toiletries smell lovely, there are Egyptian Cotton sheets on the bed, the monsoon walk-in shower is so refreshing, I've never felt so clean in my life! Once a year we travel over here but not to visit Bristol town centre but to this hotel as this is one of my favourites! We always have issues with parking but there is off street parking available!

The rooms are gorgeous, big comfy beds, quirky chairs and classic touches. My bathroom was clean and modern, and very roomy. The aforementioned gym is well stocked with very modern equipment. A bit warm with no aircon that I could feel, but it's in one of the old bank vaults which weren't designed to be cool I guess! The spa looked amazing too - I didn't use it but was seriously tempted. The jacuzzi looked like bliss and the people in it at the time had beaming smiles, so I assume they were having a good time. Reception was fast and friendly yet Covid-19 aware, as was the rest of our overnight stay. My choice of room was perfect. Fourth floor with a view of the gorge and that brilliant Brunel structure, the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Everything we would ever need was in that large room. The main necessity, a large, comfortable bed. After settling in we decided to venture down to The White Lion. A 'pub style' venue with a outside patio area that allows non-residents to enjoy. Again, with that wonderful view of the bridge. Fantastic service from the young staff who, obviously, are very well trained. Having my normal double vodka it arrived with no ice. When I requested some ice, a pint glass of ice arrived. The young lady placed it on the table with a smile. After a while it became a little chilly so we opted to visit the Clifton Lounge within the hotel. This lounge is residents only. A wonderful comfy lounge. The mixologist on duty that evening certainly knew how to make deliciously dry vodka martini so, I admit, another followed quite swiftly. It was delivered to the table by a young lady who asked 'do you need ice?'. I love professional service especially with a little humour. After a very restful night, breakfast. A wonderful tasty, and filling, breakfast. Once again, with very professional service. Almost silver service. A perfect way to start the day. Two small comments which certainly do not distract from this five star review, just comments. The car park could be surfaced and spaces marked out which would then accept more cars. What I believe to be the carbon monoxide alarm was just exposed without a cover. Then when we came down for breakfast, we ended up spending nearly two hour from stepping into the dining hall to leaving. We kept requesting for cutlery 3 times before finally getting the right amount of cutlery as she kept going back and forth to the kitchen with a piece of cutlery or two. There was hardly anything in the kitchen, we kept asking for stuffs and the sad thing is, they kept bringing things in small bits as if we are the only one in the dining hall. We requested for vegetarian sausages and we were told 8 minutes wait but 15 minutes later we still waiting for the sausages. The coffee machine was broken and there was no coffee. Upon request, few sachets were brought to the dining hall, there were no juice and just one carton of apple juice was then brought out, and that's how it continued for the whole morning. Bear in mind that breakfast time was from 0800 until 1100 but we were there from around 0915 and had to have such an experience. I did hung the "Top Me Up" card on door handle all day and to my surprise, I walked into the Same filthy room as I left it in the morning. No cleaning, no coffee, no milk, no towels, nothing! On our second night, the fire alarm kept going off every few seconds from around 4am. The front desk stated that one of the guests had tampered with the alarm in their room that's why it's going off every 15 seconds but there isn't a thing they can do about it. Is that not the used of the fire panel? To pinpoint where the trip is coming from?? And to say I paid over £300 for such an experience is beyond me. I do not even feel I can recommend it to my worst enemy.

As Amber knows, I am a Gold Level Member which entitles me to a "LATE" Check-Out at 2PM at NO additional fee. Plus as I informed Amber, I have stayed at Holiday Inn's throughout the World for over SIXTY-YEARS [60] and have NEVER met such a Horrible Person that worked in Senior Management! Amber fabricated a 100% FALSIFIED STORY to the Police that I was "REFUSING" to pay for my stay. As Amber knows, this is simply NOT TRUE! Unfortunately 2 Days prior to this incident, there was a VERY LOUD & EAR PIERCING FIRE ALARM very early in the morning in which I had to vacate the Building and turned out to be FALSE. I brought up this issue at breakfast a few hours later to Amber and she stated this is "NORMAL" and was Arrogant, Condescending and Dismissive. I requested the name and contact info of the GM to report my dissatisfaction with the False Fire Alarm AND now more importantly Amber's Unprofessional Character, Poor Listening Skills and Terrible Customer Service Skills. AMBER provided a "GENERIC" Email address and stated "Dan" is the GM. I immediately wrote a lengthy Email outlining my dissatisfaction. Two [2] Days Later I wrote another Email to Dan because of NO responses from him. It is my belief, that Amber "INTERCEPTED" both E-Mails, Read them and Destroyed them which prevented Dan from reviewing the contents of the letters, NOR replying. I also believe, that after AMBER read my letters this infuriated her and her treatment towards me became even more SEVERE, RECKLESS, REPREHENSIBLE, WANTON, MALICIOUS and was looking for ANY EXCUSE to essentially "EVICT" ME. So hence, she fabricated the story that I "REFUSED" to pay for my stay and called 911 to the Police to Arrest and take us to JAIL! After the Police Officer's arrived, I explained the facts and the 2 Veteran Officer's were literally in SHOCK & STUNNED that Amber would Fabricate these Falsified Stories! As you can see in the Phitos, the Officers WERE LAUGHING THEIR HEADS OFF as Amber stood nearby listening to the truth about what actually occurred. To date, Dan has chosen to IGNORE the Emails and failed to respond in a timely manner. But my friend who was traveling along complained it was too hard for him, so guess that's individual tastes. Breakfast was a treat! They had menu items I had never seen before on a Hilton breakfast menu. One option was Kippers which my brother and I tried out and split. It was basically a very omega rich fish in lemon and butter. The other option was a hot smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on a brioche bun. Gosh - I received a massive helping of this and while tasty, just couldn't finish off the plate! You get a lot of food (& protein) if you decided to get this breakfast menu option. I also really liked the waffles! Loved that the waffle design had the Hilton logo. Staff at reception were great-provided us with map and excellent directions on how to head to the Bristol City center via the Temple Church and Gardens, which are located right behind this hotel. Fortunately for me however I was lucky enough to attend a friend's lavish 21st there that was put on by some very generous parents. We spent most of our time in the sophisticated downstairs section that is available for private hire or just for a quiet drink. Speaking of which, the cocktails are superb, perfectly balanced and wonderfully presented concoctions. A screwdriver might seem like a fairly straightforward cocktail but the ratio of fresh orange to vodka with just the right amount vanilla ensured that it will stay in my memory as the best I've ever had. The staff were extremely polite, handing out delicious salmon and prawn canapes with the sort of frequency that could fill you up after 5 minutes. Now if only I could afford to drink there all the time!
