I love Misha at Central Core (and Jax her cute and uber well behaved studio pup.) I am so thankful I stumbled across Misha at Central Core Pilates. I use Pilates as a sort of physical therapy as I am recovering from a back injury from heavy weight lifting. I feel strengthened, stretched and realigned after Misha's Pilates classes. Recently we did some spinal decompression and my back has never felt better! Misha's enthusiasm is contagious and her knowledge is abundant. I highly recommend dropping into her studio and trying one of her many offerings. She offers group and private Pilates on Reformer and the mat,, TRX, ab classes among other classes!! read more

I love Misha's professionalism and her ways to create personal connections. Health is a mind body combo and she does a great job at offering her services & guidance in such ways. Going from backaches in second pregnancy to struggling to get myself to even do self care was possible with what all Central Core provides as part of their membership & services. Blessing in disguise are her short routinized pilates videos that make the "workout" habit a feasibility for rat race life I experience! She's also always available to answer any questions or concerns we as clients have when it comes to health! Availability, transparent communication, flexibility, accountability, guidance, recommendation, customization, variety & novelty.. all describe what Central Core offers! read more

Pismo Beach is known for a quiet beach town with great food, delicious food, and amazing views of the ocean. That is why I was shocked when I found another business in the area that rocks what they do, and a great value. This is Central Core! Central Core is hard to pin down exactly what they do (fitness studio, Pilates, group classes, etc?) as they offer so many unique classes. I met the owner & head trainer Misha. She is super passionate and knowledgeable in lots of aspects of training and getting the most out of your training time (super important). I decided to try the pilates class first. Pilates is the class that uses those cool glide type equipment and resistance straps. I have always wanted to try this, and glad I did. This class was lead by Misha. It was nice there was another man in the class and had another person who had done Pilates class before. The class really hit almost all the core body parts and enjoyed the WHOLE body experience. Misha tailored the exercises to each persons strengths and needs. Perfect class. I was sore and felt stronger all at the same time. With that positive experience I signed up for TRX (those cool yellow straps) and their pump and jump class (back to back classes, booya!). These were taught by Cameron another instructor here, and she was very helpful. She kept the class motivated and pushed us. I really liked both classes. The trx exercises really helped both isolate the muscles a good burn. I also appreciated that it helped give extra support for my knees while letting the exercises really work my muscles. The pump and jump is a modified Pilates class and switch off with weight training. I liked the Pilates jump and it really helped my focus on my legs and kept my knees strong. (Also fun to jump jump...) I really like the feel of the studio. Supportive staff that take the time to really care about us (the students) is just the start for an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend trying out a few classes (Pilates, trx), and see for yourself. What is your favorite class? read more

I love this studio for its dedication to improving health and wellness for l clients. In small group classes, you get so much attention from Misha, the owner, and learn so much about your physical body and how the brain and the muscles work to help you be your best self! In addition, I've done private training with Misha to understand more about how healing injuries and working with my physical conditions to maintain activity and longevity! Misha is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and dedicated to her craft and helping others. I highly recommend getting in for a class or private session at Central Core. And after your session, grab a coffee and walk around a great beach town! read more

I was so excited to find Central Core in Pismo Beach and meet owner/founder Misha. I've done a lot of Pilates mat exercise videos over the years and love the workout but always wanted to try the Reformer. I've been to several small group classes so far, and they are awesome! First of all, they are very safe. Plenty of distance between each Reformer machine, students and Misha wear masks the entire class, and the windows let in lots of fresh air. And the workouts - amazing! It doesn't matter if you've never done a Reformer workout. Misha is super helpful going through all the steps, and I never felt intimidated as a newby. In a few minutes, you realize that Misha's teaching is deeper than just going through a typical Reformer workout. She tailors each exercise to student's needs, abilities, and limitations. I learned later that she has a strong background in rehab work for a variety of severe injuries -- and has worked with lots of pro athletes, too! Simply put, Misha is a talented teacher and she knows her stuff! As for the workouts, they are challenging, fun, and I'm definitely getting stronger and more limber are the same time. Yeah, I think I'm hooked :). Misha and her other instructor also do several online/virtual classes, like Barre, circuit, Abs fusion, etc. I've taken several of these also and they've been great, too. Central Core also has weekend fitness retreats -- definitely want to try one of those! So yeah! I highly recommend Misha and Central Core! Maybe I'll be on the Reformer next to you at a future class! :) read more

Misha is simply the smartest instructor I know... and I am a fitness instructor in the industry for over 20 years! Misha started working with my 13 year old daughter who has chronic anxiety, headaches and stomach aches. Within a week her headaches were gone! Misha does a LOT of neuro training with her, and recently started also working in some Pilates. Adolescents are hard to please, so I will say my daughter has NEVER complained about attending Misha's sessions. She knows it's good for her and feels a difference in her day to day life. If you have a child that struggles with sensory integration, chronic anxiety, ADHD or any other neurological imbalance, I would HIGHLY recommend you give Misha a try. She knows some amazing tricks to help get the brain and the body connected. Misha's range of exercise knowledge, her education on the brain, and her vibrant personality makes this a no brainer... RUN (don't walk) to your next session with Misha! (And if you struggle with running... Misha will help you RUN again!) read more

THIS is the place you want to check out. You'll see a lot of great reviews here and that's because these instructors and this facility are excellent. I'm a local that drove by this building for years before I got interested in pilates (they have lots of great classes but, as it turns out, this is my groove). I didn't think much of it but it's a GREAT spot. Easy parking, beautiful interior, clean, safe, and extremely well managed. Truly - if you're reading this it might be because you want to try something new and Central Core is a great way to invest in yourself because the healthier we are... the more we can help those around us. read more

Came to Central Core on the recommendation of a health coach to help with some back pain, and just to see what Pilates is all about. Wow! Ended up with so much more. Misha and the other instructors are awesome. The knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for what they do comes out at every session, even at 6am! Love having Central Core, pilates, and TRX as part of my weekly routine now. Back is soooooo much better. Feel stronger and body overall just feels better. I was so amazed with what Misha and Central Core are able to accomplished I now have my 80 year parents coming every week and they are loving it. read more

The folks at Central Core are fantastic. Misha, the owner, is amazing. She is smart; she knows her stuff. She knows anatomy and physiology. She is laser focused. When i came to her I wasn't able to walk from my front door to the car without pain. I showed her the x-ray diagnosis and she assessed my problem and designed a course of exercises that would mitigate the pain. In one month!!! I am almost pain free. I am now walking and moving with relative ease. She was able to articulate the problem and help me understand the course of action I needed to take. I did one on one sessions and she gave me take home exercises. Misha is able to communicate the physiology in a manner that is understandable. She has a marvelous sense of humor and that of course helps the healing process. What a joy. Do not hesitate. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Misha and her staff. My journey with Central Core started before my wedding (years ago) as I was searching for "yet another" way to try to get fit before my wedding. I had tried gym memberships, I had tried large group classes, hot yoga, cycling, you name it, I tried it. And then I met Misha. Misha introduced me to the wonders of Pilates. Her method of teaching is engaging, hard, motivating, educational and FUN! Between Pilates classes and TRX classes at her studio I achieved all of my fitness goals and then some for my wedding. Fast forward two years, and I had moved across the country to Virginia. Missing my sessions with Misha I visited several studios in the area for Pilates classes, and none of them ever "stuck". I ended up buying my own Pilates reformer and doing virtual classes with Misha instead! She has worked with me through my entire pregnancy virtually, and now through my postpartum recovery phase. The virtual classes are just as fun, engaging and challenging as her in studio sessions, and you get to do them in the privacy of your own home, which can be nice too. My sister is now doing virtual sessions with Misha from the British Virgin Islands as well. Misha is able to work with or around what seems to be any problem or injury you may have. She's helped me through so many pregnancy problems ranging from pelvic floor muscle engagement, diastasis recti, lower back and hip pain ALL VIRTUALLY living on the opposite coast. I really can not recommend this studio and virtual sessions enough. read more

I am so grateful that I found Misha and Central Core! I have been working out here since November and I've gotten so much stronger. I've been telling all my friends about her so it's time I shared with the Yelp community. Misha is an excellent teacher. She is focused on form and always challenging me just beyond what I think I'm capable of, with so much encouragement. Best of all the workouts are different every time so we never get bored. I started bringing my nine-year-old son for weekly workouts as well and he has just as much fun as me. I love seeing his confidence grow!! She's having a open house this Sunday, 4/29 if you've been thinking about trying Pilates - don't be intimidated. Come try it! Sign up through the MINDBODY app or call Misha! read more

Completed one of Misha's weekend retreats. It's been awhile since I did a workout. Misha really kicked my A$$. It was painful in a good way. The yoga stretch at the end of the day helped. Sunday was tougher than Saturday. We ended the weekend with a spa and massage treatment at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort and Spa. I highly recommended doing one of these amazing retreats. I had pain on my right leg from my hip to my ankle after falling in the bathroom six years ago! After finally getting a doctor's opinion that Pilates was better than surgery, I found Central Core in Pismo Beach as the answer to my relief from pain. After only 5 weeks going once a week, the pain was gone! Misha Patel teaches how to heal the body by strengthening the core. Simple techniques that are low impact but really make all the difference. I was afraid to start but with her kindness and encouraging words, I felt completely confident and reassured that I could do this and find my way to recovery! So, if you're hurting, take a leap of faith and give Pilates a try at Central Core with Misha. You will ask yourself why you hadn't started years before to live your life pain free! read more

Central core is a huge part of my life! Physically, I haven't felt better in years. I've always worked out, but my strength, balance and physical well being is at an all time peak (working out hard without injury). Thanks to Misha's variety of exercise classes (abs, reformer, HITT, sculpt, barre and pump & jump...just to name a few of my favorites), knowledge (reminding you of what muscles you should be working) and dedication (she's determined to help you exceed your goals with her constant support) -I'm just so grateful . read more

We moved to Central Coast from Marin/ Bay Area and I really need my Pilates. Coming from Pilates Studios on every corner, Imagine my surprise when I found Central Core !! Misha is the absolutely the best instructor I have ever found. She changes up the routines weekly so I am in much better shape by not having the same routine over and over. She is extremely knowledgeable about working with injuries and physical therapy and challenges me. I am even thinking I will sign up with her online virtual classes so I can do Pilates with her more than once a week. She is sooo good , you have to be quick to get a spot in class at times ;-)) Even my husband has signed up for Pilates and his back issues and shoulder surgery recovery is finally in full swing. He is back to enjoying life in our retirement and its a whole new world without pain for him. Misha has been so fun and supportive, he felt comfortable learning from her immediately. Love, love love Central Core read more

Achieve all your goals and then some! I've been a client of MPS and now Central Core for 9+years. After my 3rd abdominal surgery, I had inflammation and muscular imbalance. I needed help, hope and a solution. I researched reformer Pilates and STOTT trained instructors in particular, which is how I found Misha. Her repertoire and team of instructors helped me regain balance and strength within 6 months, I was thrilled! A new setback came 3 years later, this time cancer. Surgery was curative, yet unfortunately, I experienced a rare surgical complication which left me with permanent calcium deficiency. I was told by two specialists, exercise was going to be difficult and quite likely over for me. The prescription was rest with no physical exercise for an entire year. I was in pain all the time, any movement hurt. When those 12 months were over, I slowly started to move my body and rejoined group Pilates classes. It took some time yet I started to feel good again and then finally I became pain free. As of today, I continue to get stronger, healthier and in better shape, exceeding all expectations. Pilates and Core training continue to be the solution to my movement and muscular challenges. The success I experienced inspired me to pursue STOTT training and mentorship from Misha. None of this would've been possible without Misha's wealth of knowledge, expertise and encouragement. read more

Misha is knowledgeable about the body. She listens to my needs and creates exercises that work for me and my goals. I have been working with Misha for over a year prior to my hip replacement. She was able to exercise me in a way I stayed strong. Being strong going into the operation was an important part of my fast recovery. I believe she will assist me in gaining mobility faster and safer. read more

My experience at Central Core with Misha has been truly amazing. I came to her six months ago explaining that I've had chronic pain associated with EDS and autoimmune disease. In the past six months I've seen more improvement in my strength, range of motion, and confidence in movement than I have with various training and PT over the past 2 years. Misha is kind, respectful, and will push you within your comfort zone (which my comfort zone is now continuously expanding). I've been seeing results in the way I move when doing other exercise (can train harder) and in daily activities (less injury). I look forward to my sessions with her every week. read more

I love Central Core! I loved it so much, now my wife and I come together.. First time trying this type of exercise... as soon as I walked in, it was warm & inviting - such a beautiful studio. Misha was an awesome instructor who really explains the movements & because it's such a small intimate class (5 people), she was able to modify and focus on the needs of each one of us (especially if we have injuries). I was very impressed with her knowledge & expertise. I look forward to going back! read more

Love Central Core! They have changed my life! Thank you, Misha and Cameron! I'm a client for life!

I can't praise Misha enough!!!! I was told how amazing she is and I have experienced it first hand. I have a VERY bad back, 2 bulging discs in L4 and L5. When my back goes out I literally go crooked and suffer for many days even with the help of Chiropractic care. I had one of my worse episodes and finally decided to make an appointment with Misha. I was highly nervous walking in to my first session but the nerves faded quickly once I began talking with Misha and realized how knowledgeable and educated she is with the human body/Pilates. After my first session I noticed a huge change in my body and the pain had definitely subsided. I'm so looking forward to my next session with her. I now feel there is hope for my back and be able to live my life how I want to pain free. Thank you Misha read more

My husband is in his late 70's and loves working out with Misha. He loves the variety she puts into the classes and he loves how challenging the classes are. I kept driving by this studio and wondering what they offered. I'm so glad I stopped in and met them. Right now Misha is providing one on one coaching to him. She knows exactly how to handle a virtual workout and he is thrilled to continue his work. This studio and the staff are absolute gems. GREAT Pilates Class Who would have thought at the age of seventy years young I would start a Pilates class. Well I saw an ad at a local golf course for a Pilates class to help with your golf game (strength and flexibility) and god knows I need all the help I can get. So with all the challenges that life has to offer (hip replacement, knee surgery, and rotator cuff surgery) I started at Central Core about three months ago. I feel like a new man. I know I have a long way to go but Misha and central core will help me get there. Great Pilates class great instructor (Misha). Come one come all you will not regret it. read more

I highly recommend Central Core for anyone looking to better understand and take care of their body, and for anyone trying to recover from specific injuries. Misha has helped me begin recovering from a shoulder/back injury that started a couple years ago, after doing physical therapy without success and being told by doctors that nothing could be done to fix it. She has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the body and its mechanics, alongside a positive, energetic, and motivating personality. read more

Misha never ceases to amaze me. Having been a competitive athlete, trained in kinesiology and quite cynical of gyms and studios (I could always do it better myself: sheepish grin) I cannot even begin to explain the gratitude I have for this woman, her team of instructors and the knowledge and wisdom she brings. Regardless of your fitness level she WILL get you results and do it with genuine care for your wellbeing. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND x100,000!! My experiences so far with Misha at Central Core have been both physically and mentally empowering. Coming away from 5 years of physical therapy and struggling from the long term effects of a back and two knee injuries, I thought chronic pain, instability, muscle imbalances, and babying my body was going to be my status-quo. In less than 3 weeks with Misha, my body has undergone a complete transformation, and I have been able to do things I was told, and thought I would never be able to do again. Misha consistently surprises me with fun, new and challenging workouts/circuits-- ones that push me hard while moving safely in regards to my specific injuries. Beyond sheer knowledge and expertise, what really makes Misha stand out is her uplifting, enthusiastic, and intoxicating personality! Misha, if you're reading this, I hope you know that you're stuck with me forever! read more

As a client, I've benefitted from her commitment to on-going education and acquiring complimentary skills. My husband and I were interested in trying Pilates after a recommendation from a friend. Central Core was just opening so we decided to give it a try. When we began we didn't really even know exactly what a Pilates workout was. Now we hate it if we have to miss our regular sessions. Misha's workouts are challenging but reasonable. She manages to give individualized attention without neglecting anyone in the class. My husband has some minor injuries and the Pilates workout has helped strengthen his muscles and alleviate pain. I have had an improvement in overall strength and fitness. If you have ever wondered about Pilates I suggest you give central Core a try, you won't be sorry! I'm sure the others classes offered here are just as good and those are next on my list. Thanks Misha for making exercise fun! read more

I recently attended a pilates weekend retreat and took several classes from Misha at Central Core. I came to Central Core very hesitant and skeptical due to a very serous back injury I incured 4 years ago that I'm still dealing with. Misha is kind and very knowledgeable about the body. She has been very aware and cautious of aggravating my back condition, all while working me to my full ability and not taking it easy on me, which I very much appreciate. She's also worked with my 9 year old, and does so with the grace and skills of a highly trained child education expert. My daughter describes her experience as "AWESOME! I got to move in different ways that were fun and hard". I have been to many studios and willing to drive great distances (hours) to find a Pilates studio that works best for me and with great confidence i highly recommend Central Core to anyone but especially individuals with injuries, and especially back pain.
