I was in town for a dog competition and wanted to take my travel companion, who is an artist, to this store and buy him some supplies as a thank you for helping with the driving and the dogs. I was blown away by Central Art Supply. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable! Definitely support this local business. They have an amazing selection of pens, paints, paper, notebooks, sketch pads, along with drafting tables and carrying cases. It's a heaven for artists and those who love to journal and sketch. The staff was very friendly, I had been stopping by Michael's and Hobby Lobby every chance I could whenever driving through somewhere that had one (unfortunately we don't have one where I live) to get a colorless blending pencil and a specific prismacolor premier colored pencil called "electric blue". And FINALLY I was able to get them and they were way more affordable than at Michael's or Hobby Lobby etc. read more

I've been shopping at Central Art for about 25 yrs. ---starting when I was teaching Art classes as part of the BFA program for Rogue Community College. I would send my students over to pick up supplies, and Dan and entire staff at Central Art were so very helpful to the students. So over time I started shopping there, and they are really just a world class operation. Very high quality, and great variety of materials, as well as warm friendly knowledgable staff. My husband often likes to drop in and buy supplies on my behalf and he has come home with some wonderful surprises based on recommendations he has received. I really enjoy the handmade watercolor paper sketchbooks, esp. "Indigo" brand, which was one of those "surprises". So thank you so much, Dan, Anne, Adam, Jasmin, and all the staff. I wanted to support and give a local small art supply place my business but the moment we walked in be FORCED to wash our hand as soon as we walked in or we cannot shop there is insane. I realize there is a pandemic and people are scared but saying we are not welcome is ridiculous unless we do what they want. I then was followed around the store and being told that my mask was not on properly was the final straw. Treating customers like they are a walking disease is no way to run a business. Maybe just stay home and choose another profession. read more

Wow, are we fortunate to have this resource. Everything there is useful and vibrant and well-priced! It amazes me when I go there, the quantity of art supplies I'm able to walk out with and on top of that no sales tax. It almost feels like it could become illegal. Three times now I've gotten oil and acrylic paints that were good quality and on clearance of some sort. I believe I got Winsor & Newton Galeria in Permanent Rose (acrylic) for a very low price and it's literally my favorite color/texture/opacity of any paint I own. I also got a Cobalt Violet (acrylic) by Holbein for about $5-6. They also sell small tubes of colors so you can test them for about $2. Another thing they have is Faber-Castell colored pencils by the singles. And the pricier ones by the singles too. Tons of paper and canvases for every level. The ground floor (!) I went in several times before I even knew I could go down there. Dear goddess they stock easels (studio/H-frames) from out of my dearest fantasies! I fully intend to get my next easel there. I have a few too many needing to downsize first. The lovely people who work there are very knowledgeable and helpful. I wish we had an art store like this in Grants Pass--but am aware I need to be grateful they're just a short drive down the freeway. read more

Hurray! It is well established that this store excels in ANY type of art supply including EVERY color of permanent pen known to man. There must be hundreds, and some with brush, tips at much more reasonable prices than elsewhere. But I used Central Art for FRAMING, And I am so glad I did. They do not have the fancy computers that simulate your framed art, but they have an experienced framer who gives honest advice and won't push you to buy the more expensive frame. I'm serious about savings. I have used another store that offers a much-advertised 50-70% off. Let me tell you, even my largest frame here was 1/3rd of what any with 70% off was at the chain store. Pleasant service AND spectacular savings EVERY DAY - no waiting for a sale that will actually cost you more. THANK you Central Art for your excellent service AND for watching for my health. I am immune-suppressed, with progressive lung disease and other complications. Several specialists have told me I'd die within hours from any version of COVID. You would not realize how vulnerable I am by looking at me. The rest of us should have freedoms as part of this society as well. Thank you for providing a safe store. read more

They have a wide range of art supplies for children up to professionals and they can help you decide which supplies are the best for whatever you are doing! Great place to shop for the best art supplies.

I have been a customer at Central Art Supply for over 10 years, they have always been courteous and knowledgable and carry the best selection of local art supplies in Southern Oregon. I do most of my shopping there and send my students there to get their supplies. I find that other local Craft/art stores do not have well-informed help. It is so discouraging to make a 143 mile trip to just find out you were sold the wrong item. read more

I took a drawing to be framed here...high regards from a gallery owner. They promised 2-3 weeks, at just under a month I called to check in...'it was almost ready to be framed, they'd have it in a few days". When I came to pick it up, the top of the frame had a very noticeable blemish under the finish. I told them it was unacceptable and they repaired it the same day ,(appreciated) yet with no consideration of my time, mileage or that they screwed up, these folks were OK with giving me a flawed product. I'm all for small businesses, but I compared prices at different stores and I really could afford something I know is worth the money. I'm a college student so budgeting is definitely a factor, I bought an acrylic sealant for around $12.50 here and I was disappointed that I found it at another store right after for about $8 read more

I thought what I wanted was easy. Staples wanted $14 to cut a piece of paper stuck onto cardboard into labels. Office Depot wanted $18. I took the project to CAS and Skye knew exactly what I needed and made certain it was done well enough for my exhibit. She wound up doing it by hand.... Respect! It is wonderful to deal with fellow artists who 'get' it. read more
