I normally shop at Aldi Laytown which us superb with lovely staff. Santry Aldi is a different story. Staff don't seem to want to open a full checkout even for trollies and keep trying to get oeople to the self-service scanners. I keep reminding them : I don't work here, please open a till. When queues were building up today, having declined to self-scan my own trollyload, reluctantly a call was made for staff to open another till and the staff directed the person behind me over, fortunately, he had manners and recognised that I should have been next and allowed me go ahead. All fine, my shopping was checked out but when it came to pay on the card reader I was denied the opportunity to give my rating of my shopping experience. The staff member turned the screen towards himself and gave himself his own review! Aldi need to be aware that their customer satisfaction rates are being skewed by staff giving themselves a good rating instead of allowing customers to honestly rate the shopping experience and give valuable feedback which contributes to improved service in the future.

They herd you towards the machines instead. even if you say no Why should I do their work for them, to maximise their profits. if i'm doing that I want 20% off the price of my groceries. it took me twice as long to check out as i had to stand waiting for someone to come and tell the machine that im old enough to buy beer. I am 56 years old.And the whole time i have a camera in my face 12inches away recording my every move like im a criminal. Junkies hanging around outside all the time panhandling and they do nothing about it. it feels unsafe to go here too. if I had a choice i would shop elsewhere but they have it all sewn up now theres no more family grocers left. Customer service has long been forgotten. Shame.

When we heard here of the prevalence of the "Chip and PIN" system here, we were super worried and braved awful ATM fees to withdraw cash down the way. Per Chase/British Airways: "Further, customers in the United States traveling outside the U.S. are not required to obtain a PIN. Merchants in Europe (or other countries) are required to: - Accept all cards with magnetic stripe - Honor all cards bearing the Visa/ MasterCard brand mark if they accept MasterCard - Accept magnetic stripe as well as chip cards, even in markets that are evolving to 100% chip card local issuance You should urge the merchant to insert the card into the terminal and follow the prompts. The terminal will automatically request a signature. If the merchant insists on not accepting the card, please call us at the number listed on the back of your card, to report the merchant name and address. " The folks at the store were very nice and may have been scared by various tactics used at the outset of Chip-and-PIN stuff (see the Wikipedia article) into refusing our card, but apparently it's a legal no-no, and we'd like to prevent other visitors from having to go through the rigamarole that we did.

Never found it overly busy or fussy, which I really appreciate - who likes the hassle of almost having to fight your way through to the last bags of apples? Also, never witnessed any dodgy activities and edgy security guards like in other locations. They brought in a new range of plant-based milks, and a lot of "foodie" options, like really nice wholegrain and seeds toasts. So right now, other than good cleaning products and specific toiletries, Aldi caters for almost all my grocery needs. Not going the full five stars because I wish they had a bakery and nice sourdoughs, but maybe one day...

Have been returning stuff constantly and they never give you trouble, neither am I. Great advantage to this Aldi is that beside it you may find Campus petrol station, which is rather cheap than expensive. Staff is always super friendly. I love this Aldi staff. Good job everyone working in there ;-) Another great upgrade here happened as in all other Lidls and Aldis is wireless payment up to €15 with supported debit/credit cards. Love that.

The deli counter within this store offers an extensive range of fillings. The friendly staff is on hand to help you build your very own Panini, bagel, baguette or roll. I love to go in and order whatever I am feeling like that day, whether it be a satisfying chicken tikka with salad baguette, chicken with mozzarella and pesto Panini or egg mayonnaise with ham and extra tomato roll. They are in no way tightfisted with their portions and you shall happily come away will a considerably sized baguette for example with 3 fillings for a very economical €3.50 approx depending on how much it weighs. This Eurospar is also one of the only outlets in Dublin where you can collect coupons for special buy-one-get-one-free pizzas at Four-Star pizza - perfect if you wanted to spend an inexpensive night in with first-rate pizza and a movie. The off-license is well stocked and well priced, and predictably, gets plenty of custom from the students.
