Pleasantly surprised at the variety of all the prepared foods available. The bakery also does the donuts and desserts from the buffet and beautiful decorated cakes. There were customers in line waiting to place orders for cakes for their events. Sampled Watergate salad, pumpkin fudge, and kielbasa. Didn't get to try the cider or apple pastry because it was a bit crowded for the samples. Prices... comparable to regular supermarket prices on ambient and shelf stable goods. I actually came in to buy ground beef. Heard the 80/20 was cheaper than our local supermarket. It was a lot cheaper. I bought the 10 lb. package of 80/20 ground beef at $3.99/lb. Brought it home and divided it up. Very easy and economical. Their steaks and butcher case looked amazing. They even had a special $1/burger from the butcher case. If you've ever had the burgers at the buffet you know the quality of the meat is so fresh. Definitely worth it. On the way out is a snack bar where you can get hot dogs, chili, drinks and I believe ice cream too. There was a crowd there too so I didn't get to see the whole menu. You can eat your snacks at the tables in the sunny enclosed snack bar area. Next visit will be either the breakfast or lunch buffet then shop at the farm market. Maybe also shop in their gift store.

I especially loved their freshly made peanut butter, which comes in several flavors like honey, cinnamon, and chocolate, all at very reasonable prices. The bakery section was excellent as well, and they offered a wide variety of specialty teas that would make great gifts. I also appreciated that they sell chicken hearts and other less common cuts of meat at affordable prices! The market was clean and lively on the weekend. The cashier was friendly and nice. I tried their chicken pie and beef pie, but they were a little too salty for my taste. Overall, I would happily come back for the fresh peanut butter and meat!

The hubs and I stopped by to get some treats to go: small balls of granola and M&Ms, peanut butter cookies, a cherry fry pie, and their housemade Mint Tea. The treats were super competitively-priced, and there was even a shelf of reduced-priced baked goods! We both weren't fans of the housemade Mint Tea, as it was just too spearmint-y and tasted like 'gum.' Outside, there were some house and lawn decor for sale Cute little place to get some refreshments when you're in the PA Dutch area! There is a small lot for your car and the ma'am in there was super friendly! +baked goods +reduced-priced baked goods available +hot and cold beverages offered

If you're going on a picnic or are out and about and want some good, quick grub; this is your place. My hubby got a cold cut, packed with fresh veg, meat, cheese; a half was enough to fill his tummy for the rest of the day. In the center of the store (it's kinda cramped - I advise going on a week day), there are watermelons (yellow/red), peaches, plums, strawberries, corn on the cob and to your immediate left, popcorn/snacks, followed by a frozen section (mashed potatoes, pot pies, casseroles, soups, creamed chipped beef, gravy...), follow that around to a refrigerated section (salads, pickles, puddings, sandwiches...), then there's the grill (hot/cold sandwiches, hotdogs, chips); I forgot about the cookies, shoo fly pies and there's a deli - SEE; this is why you absolutely must make this a stop by. There are tables outside, plenty of room to stretch, relax and eat.

Herr's was possibly the last grocery store around here to use scanners. I can still recall the checkout line, as an adult, where the checker actually keyed in every item. It was impressive that they rarely needed a price check on anything. They use scanners now and even have self-checkout, so everything's up to date in Millersville. Besides being a full-service grocer, Herr's offers a nice salad bar and eight soups every day, along with the usual fried/roasted chicken and other fried treats, along with sandwiches, for lunch. I'm a sucker for those Amish baked lima beans -- not the healthiest version of lima beans, but a local treat. Most local residents would point to Herr's meat counter as a strong point. They still cut and sell meat like the real butcher shop of the old days, and the people behind the counter seem pretty knowledgeable if you have a question. The big stores with their shrink-wrapped everything don't offer this anymore.
