We visited Valladolid and Cenote Zaci many years ago, and decided to revisit the cenote with our children in 2021. Cenote Zaci is located right in the heart of Valladolid, and it is nice to be able to walk right to it. If you aren't familiar with cenotes, they are water-filled sinkholes. We stayed at Hotel el Meson del Marques located on the central square in Valladolid. Therefore, it was easy to get to the cenote by foot, versus driving and trying to find a parking spot. We walked about four blocks to the cenote, about 10 minutes. There were plenty of signs along the way. There was not a big parking lot here, and the lot was crowded, so we were glad we walked instead of driving our rental car. When we were there in July 2021, there was a lot of construction going on, but it did not seem to affect the operations of the cenote. I am guessing that improvements were put into place once the construction was complete. There is a ticket booth at the top of the cenote. The entrance fee was only $1.50 USD when we went. Once you have paid, there are paths and stairs to go down to the water This is a large, open-air cenote, with plenty of spots to wade or jump in, including a pretty high platform. There are several spots to jump in from different heights, which is a definite bonus for a cenote. We always look for cenotes where you can jump in, or any that have extra features (zip lines, rope swings, etc). There were a lot of people swimming here, as I am sure it is popular for both locals and tourists. Most people were near the bottom of the stairs and swimming in the shallower parts of the cenote. What to bring: ~ Skip the sunscreen and go with alternate sun protection if you feel like you need it. Much of the cenote is in the shade anyway, so it is unlikely you'll need it. ~ goggles if desired ~ action camera ~ shoes appropriate for wet surfaces (stone platforms and stairs were wet)
Located a few blocks away from the central square in Valladolid, this was my first cenote in Mexico. We walked to the location. Pretty easy to get to. There was a restaurant located near the Cenote which apparently you can eat there and get free entrance to it. I didn't know what to expect but well we paid the $25 MXD each and headed down. It was fairly cold today but I could only imagine how many people would be here if it were the summer! It's a pretty sight to behold. The water looked fresh and cold with fishes! Walking to the other side wasn't too bad. I wonder how deep this water was but I didn't bring a swimsuit and wasn't planning on swimming! Was it worth the money? Well it was cheap and I had a lot of great photos. It's also a nice stop to look at if your in Valladolid for the day!
Are you kidding me? This place is absolutely gorgeous and plenty of room for social distance. We came at high time on Saturday afternoon before heading back to Playa Del Carmen and we were not bothered at all by how many people were there. The place is huge. You can dive into the deep waters "safely" from multiple areas, high and low. We had a blast. I could spend a few days here. It's totally magical. We started off by trying to visit chicken itza in the morning (which turned out to be closed for the equinox) , then decided to spend the morning at Ik Kil cenote. I'm starting to think the Yucatan Cenotes are the most majestic. I think we paid $30 MXN to get in to Zaci, but I have a feeling we underpaid.
All the cenotes I've been to are magical and special in their own ways. Cenote Zací is the first one I've been to in a downtown location. In the center of Valladolid, it is a lively swimming hole with visitors swimming, cliff jumping and having a good time. It kind of reminded me of the energy of Barton Springs in Austin, Texas. The entry is only 30 pesos or if you prefer to patron the restaurant and spend at least 100 pesos there, they will give you a pass to get in to the cenote for "free." Both the restaurant and cenote were awesome. I highly recommend!
Visiting Cenote Zaci was an incredible surprise with our Airbnb Adventure in December. I loved that it is in the center of town and easy to walk to. The cenote is incredible and relaxing to spend hours in. I loved jumping from the sides as well. I recommend visiting low season or when less people
An astounding creation of nature. This sinkhole (cenote) which is one of many located on the Yucatan peninsula, displays both stalagmites and stalagtites along with other geological formations. Per our tour guide, this cenote is quite deep (greater than 90 meters) and is connected to the underground rivers and has multiple forms of wildlife supported within its environment. If travel to Villadolid either by tour or private transportation it is possible to go swimming (if you brought a change of clothes). There is a small charge of 25 Mexican pesos. This cenote is very interesting.
For 25 pesos (or free if you eat at the restaurant), you can enter this cenote. There's a ledge to jump from and it's a refreshing escape from the heat. The food from the cafe was okay, but perhaps I'm not used to the local cuisine. I asked the server for his favorite meal, and he recommended the chile rellenos. I'm used to what this is in the US, but in the Yucatan, it's something else entirely. I saw many other patrons with this dish, but it wasn't to my taste. It is similar to meatloaf in a soupy cheese broth and a hard boiled egg. I'm quite adventurous when it comes to food, but this just wasn't for me. It was nice to sit here and have a beer though.
Right in downtown of Valladolid, reasonable price 150 pesos/adult cash only, (no locker but you can bring your bags down), clean shower and change rooms and rest rooms. Easy to walk down to Cenote platforms, fish swimming around and clean your feet. Multiple platform to jump. Not a tourist place so not that crowded. Beautiful place to visit and enjoy the fresh sacred Mayan water read more

It's so hard to describe the beauty and magic of this place. The second you walk in, it's overwhelming. It cost about $8USD per person. They have a place to shower and use the restroom. It s nothing fancy but they do keep it clean. Our children loved swimming in the Cenote. I on the other hand struggled with getting in. I felt like even just seeing it was an experience. We would visit again, thank you! read more
Another five-star experience in Cancun. This was probably one of my favorite parts of the 12 hour excursion. We did while in Cancun. This watering hole is exceptional. If you like being in nature and cool water, this is the place for you. I had no idea these things existed and now I want to go back to Cancun and explore mini more of the cenote as they have to offer. From what I was told Cancun has the most cenotes in the entire world. That is really cool because this is only an hour and a half flight from Houston Texas so I will definitely come back and check out more of these. The water was so cool and comfortable. They had kind of like a rainfall affect coming from the very top, so water would just splash on your face and it felt so relaxing and good. Great relaxing time for sure. No, I will admit getting down to the watering hole is not easy. It's quite dangerous if you ask me because the stairs a very steep and they are very slippery so be very careful when you're walking down the stairs. read more

This place was really cool. It was one of the stops on our Villadolid tour. This cenote was very deep and we had to walk probably 8-10 stories down to get to the water. The water was cold and there were fish that swim right up to you/bump into you. Overall, an awesome experience. read more

We took a road trip to Merida from Cancun, via Valladolid. During our time in Valladolid we decided to check out this Cenote as it was near the center of town, easily accessible, and has a restaurant attached to it. If you dine in the restaurant, you are provided free access to the Cenote, otherwise there is a separate fee. After eating, we walked down the steps into the Cenote. Its just so curious and cool, it immediately makes you feel like a kid again whose just discovered some amazing spot! I got right in the water, slowly, climbing down the stairs. The warm was still and refreshing, neither cold nor warm. There were platform around the surrounding walkway from which other people were jumping off into the water. I would come back in a heart beat and wish I could have experience other Cenotes. read more
