Yes... to infinity and beyond. First and foremost, Jonathan and Auriette, this program you built is absolutely amazing. I know there are an infinite number of children that have core memories because of you. This program provides children with such a unique experience that allows their dreams to feel attainable. Parents, this program allows your child to be passionate about so many different unique subjects... neuroscience, chef, surgery, robotics, etc... For a week your child feels safe to learn, to build and be great. Finding likeminded people to share these experiences with. Celsius and Beyond, you did great. Thank you everyone and see you next summer! read more

My 9 year old daughter attended Top Chef camp, and I'd say it's the best camp she's been to. Normally she comes back from a camp saying it was "good", and she "played", and that's the extent of it. But after each day at Top Chef, she waxed lyrical about all the things they made, how they made them, and how fun it was. While she likes baking, she's never been a keen cook or an experimental eater - but it seems like this experience has launched a lot more interest and engagement. She even tried kimchi, and wants to make vegetable soup like the one they made at camp! To top it all, she brought home a sourdough starter, and showed me how to make bread. I couldn't be more delighted and grateful. I don't know what their other camps are like, but I will definitely try more. read more

My kids have attended these camps for over 10 years, and they have always had a great time! Although the subject matter may be the same across several offerings, the camp is tailored to be age appropriate (e.g. surgery camp for younger kids is different than surgery camp for older kids). The director, Auritte, is always positive, patient and kind. Would highly recommend! read more

I'm so grateful that Celsius and Beyond exists! I haven't found a better program for my middle schooler to explore his interest in science--both during summer break and after school. What I appreciate most is that they get a chance to do REAL science. This summer, my 11-year-old had the chance to use a centrifuge, a PCR machine, and even practice electrophoresis at his genetics summer camp. I highly recommend! read more

My kids attended the surgery and Lego engineering camps. Every day, they came home with excitement, eager to share what they had learned and done at camp. The teachers seem to love and know what they teach. The place is clean and organized. The director runs a tight ship with a smile, making it look easy. After only one week, my kids know how to suture, repair a fractured bone, and do basic programming. I can't recommend Celsius enough! read more

This is the place for you if you would like your kids to go for an extremely underwhelming camp experience. In sending your kid to camp you would hope for a fun experience but underfortunately Celcius and Beyond offers nothing of the sort with a circulum that is not what really what is adverstised in the description and a poor quality camp with a lot of overall disorganization by the camp leader Auritte. Worst of all, my child received suspect child care due to lack of supervision during lunch where several kids were stabbed by other campers with sharp sticks and there was no one to watch the kids at all. This is not a program where you can leave your kids safely. Best to find any other program to attend! read more

We are C&B "regulars"! It is a skills and science-oriented camp. Well structured and project-based, it aims to cultivate kids' dynamic interests. Our first child attended 4-5 weeks every summer from 5-13 yo; and this summer is our second's 1st with C&B. As expected, the kid loved the activities and teachers! Thanks, Auritte & the team, for keeping the camp going! read more

I sent my then Kindergartner here for their remote learning during the pandemic. My child had a rough transition during the first few days; reached out to see how we work through together but they weren't helpful at all. In fact, insinuated my child was the issue. Mind you, the pandemic was a stressful time for everyone, especially children. I decided to pull him out but had to go through hoops to get my money back since we only attended a few days. I would not recommend. read more

A fantastic place to learn science in summer. Most instructors actually hold a degree in the areas of science they teach in this camp. You end up hiking with an environmentalist, using a skin board to practice surgical stitches with a medical UCSF student and so on. It will be our third summer in the camp. Counselors, teachers and the director are all fantastic year after year. My daughter was signed up for H2O camp, which involved going to an outdoor pool in the middle of the coldest time in August last year. She was a trooper about the low temperatures, which I attribute to counselors helping them get the most out of the uncooperative weather. Regarding one of the negative reviews, if you try to make a point on being treated unequally based on your race, maybe don't mention things like "Spanish accent". read more

Pretty phenomenal experience for my 11 year old last year. We are in the East Bay and found Celsius and Beyond thru online searches when he was ready to have a change from the camps he'd attended in the years prior. What a find! I was hesitant to commit to the SF commute but I knew from Day 1 it was one of those 'parent sacrifices' I would happily make for this unique experience. Last year he took "Anatomy" and every day they learned a different system in the body then dissected something to study the system experientially! Every day he came home exhausted from the mental engagement and self driven to learn more and share with us. This camp has been an opening for my son to see how his science/math passion can be applied to his future in a real AND EXCITING way. Based on last year's experience both of my boys are enrolled in camp this year. The science/math enthusiast is taking Surgery and they younger brother choose Marine Mammals. I appreciate Auritte, the owner, for taking the time to talk to me and answer my questions. I have seen reviews and heard the voicemail stating the limited capacity to talk but each of my emails (and a subsequent call that lasted 30+ minutes) gives me clarity on why she is at her capacity. She listened, attuned to my needs and was engaged in our talk. I am appreciative for that. read more

This is a wonderful camp. Well run, interesting subjects and educational yet fun for the kids. Ours really loved it the last several weeks. They really liked all of the counselors and the Director/founder (Auritte) is great. We will absolutely be back next summer! read more

Our 6th grader and 4th grader just attended the Jewelery making and surgery camp for the first time this week. They both loved it and said it was one of their most favorite day camps in the city. We were very impressed by what they learned, coming home each day to tell us with great enthusiasm what they learned that day and what they were to do the next. They have already asked if they can go again the next time we need a camp. read more

Our 6 year old daughter attended the surgery camp, summer 2014. Wow!!! This camp met all expectations and more! Our daughter has an interest in all things medical & surgery. This camp gave her a real life opportunity to be a surgeon at an age appropriate level. The best part of the camp was seeing and hearing the excitement she had each day at learning and developing her passion. She did sutures on a pig, dissected a frog and learned all sorts of gory stories of hospital life that further ignited her interest in medicine. She also showed us all how to properly scrub in for surgery! 5 star camp & well worth the cost. read more

Thank you Celsius & Beyond for providing a safe, engaging learning camp for our kids to attend this Spring! We enrolled my 4th grader earlier this year and it has been life changing. He quickly pivoted from being very disengaged, screen off during zoom and now he is engaging in class discussions and proactively doing his work. Overall, he is a much happier kid! read more

Long story short....... I would not send my Black children back to this program. My kids love math and science! My 7-year old son and 9-year old daughter attended a 5-day Celsius and Beyond science camp in the summer 2017. I paid full price for the classes for both of my children. My daughter chose not to attend after the third day. My son finished the week. Both of my kids learned new things, enjoyed the projects and practiced what they leaned at home. My son, who was 7 when he attended camp, reported he felt he was underestimated in the program and suspected it was based on his being African-American. He got along with the kids, so it seems the bias he felt was from the adults. On the day of a field trip, the director of the program and I spoke. My kids were the only Black kids in the program so I was probably easy to identify. Without prompting she offered her opinion on my kids, "your kids are very smart, but like most homeschooled kids they prefer to work with each other". The 'but' suggested to me that it was a critique, however I took it as 'mission accomplished'. I want my kids to choose each other over strangers. The director, who had a strong Spanish accent, asked questions of me that focused on my finances. She asked: if I brought my kids to class on the bus- I told her I drove. She asked how I had time to homeschool. I told her I was an at home mother. She asked if I had a husband...... and on and on. I was given the treatment that occurs when people assume you are a Black helpless welfare mother. When I told her my husband is an engineer and I an attorney and we own a business, she didn't have any more questions. She didn't speak or glance at me again. I think my son got the, 'your mother is a welfare queen treatment' and he picked up on it. My daughter just said she didn't like the class. She only liked the fuse beads. We're in a science class in the south bay and the kids enjoy it and the teacher treats them like people who love to learn. read more

What can I possibly say about this place? It's a warm environment, where the focus is jointly on fun and learning. The director and her staff are amazing, they made my kids feel right at home from the very first day. This is like a dream school for my kids - although they do love their own school, they can't wait for vacations so they can go to Celsius and Beyond! They've learned metalsmith, chemistry, biology, and yes... even the science of cooking. If you are looking for a productive place where you can instill a love for learning, AND a love for fun, I can't recommend this place more. Bravo, I wish more places took kid's education and the fun approach to it more seriously. read more

We are big fans of Celsius and Beyond. I have a daughter entering 6th grade. She has attended Celsius and Beyond camps for several years now and consistently enjoyed them so much that she is willing to attend without a friend. She attends public school and doesn't get enough hard science as part of that curriculum. She has taken dissection camp and studied DNA and is presently taking a surgery camp. Each day she returns excited about what she has learned and interested in sharing that knowledge which is not typical for her at the end of most camp days elsewhere. It is possible she is the youngest in camp this week which was prescribed for 6th-9th graders. Not sure how that effects the others, but I hope not negatively. We have also hosted a spa products themed birthday party at C&B which was a great success with the girls. They made soap, lavender scrub and lip gloss and left with these as their party favors. I am always impressed that if I have a concern and send an email that I get a thorough and complete response immediately. read more

My son has attended camps here on 3 different occasions, and enjoyed all of them. I've always been greeted when dropping off or picking up, and have gotten very good feedback about what my son is doing during the day - from Auritte, in particular, who I would imagine has a zillion things to attend to while camp is in session. The camp themes are interesting and engaging, and I appreciate that there's so much variety. We have tried many camps in the bay area and this is one of my sons favorites. read more

My son loves everything about this camp. He is happy and excited to go to camp to learn and create fun projects . He has made handmade soap, learned about the ocean and marine biology, made an awesome gum ball apparatus in wood working class and is currently making a lego robot. The camp also has a strong social emotional support system in place and it shows. The staff is invested in creating a safe, fun learning environment for all of the kids. For my son, this camp is a perfect fit. He can be himself, he is having fun and is learning. I highly recommend this camp!!! read more

Our first grader attended the Celsius & Beyond learning camp for two months after distance learning at home for almost a year. I am so glad we made the decision to enroll her! She rediscovered a love of learning and was able to regain a sense of normalcy in a very challenging time. The director, teachers and staff are very communicative and welcoming, and made her feel comfortable from the start. The afternoon enrichments are wonderful - she was introduced to coding and crochet, and also enjoyed cooking and other crafts, and PE. While excited to finally return to in-person school, she was very sad to leave her community at Celsius. This program is amazing and truly saved us this year! read more

Celsius has saved our family!!! Thru the crazy SFUSD issues in this past year- with Covid closing everything............Celsius has kept our family safe and educated while schools have been closed!! We are so grateful for them during these tough times. Thank you Celsius!!!! read more

My son attended the lego minstrorms camp in the summer of '14. The class was supposed to be for 4-6 graders, yet there were a bunch of 2nd graders in it. The teacher made the kids do push ups if they didn't listen The 2 teachers for every 14 kids ratio was not held. My son said they usually only had 1 instructor and there were 14 kids in the class. 2 stars because at least he was in a safe place, and the food was good. I would not send him here again. read more

My 3 children attended Celsius two years ago and since then our family become fervent followers and participants of this quality program. Their instructors are professionals and hold advance degrees and connect well with kids. Their classes are geared to teach kids real science that follows a curriculum, not just play-based stuff. The Director of the program is a woman with a deep understanding of child-behavior. She has an innate ability to read a child's personality and make necessary adjustments to keep the children engaged and interested. I was completely blown away when my children came home from their first day at camp and enthusiastically discussed DNA and described in great detail the parts of a chromosome. All the camps have similar impact on them. I can say with all confidence that if your child loves science and attends this camp once, your child will become a life-long Celsius and Beyond camp participant. Celsius and Beyond is truly beyond any one's expectations when it comes to teaching real science in a fun way. read more

Our two daughters have been joining summer camps at Celsius and Beyond since five years now. Like the other years, this year "Celsius and Beyond" is on top of the list of their favorite camps. From dissecting sharks to creating amazing catapults, they always come home super enthusiastic about their day and ready to share their incredible discoveries & inventions. Auritte, the camp director is fantastic. She assembles outstanding programs with a perfect balance between learning and playing. Each camp focuses on a very contemporary scientific question and is lead by staff with highly relevant scientific background. So, we love the very nurturing environment of Celsius and Beyond, the spirit of the camp, and the amazing staff. Thank you, Celsius and Beyond, for giving our daughters the excitement of discovering and encouraging their curiosity. read more

I love that this place has such a wide variety of programs available, everything from cooking classes and jewelry making to the study of DNA. This is the only camp we've been able to find that seriously tries to make science available and interesting to children. My only complaint is that the programs could be at a slightly higher intellectual level. The classes are broken down by age groups but even so, the classes seem to be dumbed down just a little too much. Kids who voluntarily sign up for a class in robotics or DNA are clearly willing to learn something a little more advanced. read more

This camp fills up fast and many really like it. Not a positive experience for us though The staff bad mouthed the other people there and the founder/ director ("just send email don't call)" is disorganized. We were due a (small) refund at the end of the camp and it took them weeks and many reminders to refund it and they were stingy about the amount of the refund. I have multiple children (some grown) and lots of experience with day camps and this one I will not go to again, for sure. read more

We had an awful experience with this camp where they way understaffed our class, communicated with parents extremely poorly, demonstrated immense disorganization- all of which led to our child being very frustrated and discouraged. And what we paid was a rip-off for what they provided. AVOID! read more

I signed my son up for a week-long summer camp, but he had an anxiety attack and couldn't make it through the first day. We decided not to continue. I know their official policy is no refunds but it would have been nice if they would have worked with me a little on this since it was sort of a medical issue. That was a lot of money they decided to keep. read more

I sent my 12 year old daughter to the Forest camp this summer and she was unhappy and ended up going to one day of the 3 day session (it was the week of the fourth of July). The camp was for kids who were going into 5th through 7th grade and there were mostly younger kids in the group. The materials said that there would be a field trip to Muir Woods and they didn't take the group there. I can't speak to the quality of the education as my daughter said it was all review for her and it probably was given that most of the kids were a couple of years younger (which was my fault for not checking with them about the ages of the kids registered before signing up my child). I would recommend that you do if you are looking for something for a 12 year old. read more

Both of my children have attended camps over the last three years. These are REAL science camps--no premade kits that so many "science camps" utilize. The instructors are experts in the subject, the materials are unique and very interesting. The kids are busy all of the time doing very creative, exciting and interesing things and the groups are small. Auritte (the Director)is very dedicated, enthusiastic about changing/improving the programs. She is very responsive to each child's needs. I have never ever had concerns for my children's safety at camp. Hands down, one of the best camps that my two children (ages 7-11 and boy and girl) have ever attended!! read more

My daughter has been taking science classes here at Celsius and Beyond for a few semesters and absolutely loves it. It is her favorite activity of the week. I disagree with other reviewers who claim them to be disorganized. They are a very caring, dedicated staff who are committed to sharing their excitement and knowledge of science. read more

My eleven-year-old son loves the camps offered at Celsius and Beyond. He has attended camp at Celsius since he was six years old. Auritte runs a thoughtful and fun operation. The camps are small in size and large in fun and learning, all of which I view as a big positive. Every camp my son has attended at Celsius and Beyond has featured an enthusiastic instructor with a genuine passion for the particular subject he or she is teaching. Celsius and Beyond is one of the few (if only) camps in San Francisco that really appeals to my son's intense interest in math and science. read more

My 10 year old daughter really enjoyed both Chemistry and Robotics and my 8 year old daughter really enjoyed her 3 camps, with Fractions and Fashion winning out over Surgery and the Survival camp. But all were so fun that we've been asked to attend more weeks next summer! It is amazing to see and hear how much they really soaked up in the week-long sessions - we were at a friend's place yesterday and my 8 year old was telling us about the tree outside and how the Native Americans used that particular tree. Great stuff. read more

My 11 year-old daughter attended the Botany session this summer while we were in town for a conference. The facilitators, Auritte (?) in particular, were enthusiastic and made her feel comfortable immediately. I don't think this session increased her knowledge of the scientific method or anything, but she had a great time. The group did take a trip to Muir Woods, which was fantastic for her as an out-of-towner. read more

I think they do a great job coming up with creative, interesting topics around science. My impression (comparing C&B to the many other camps we've done is that it is more learning-oriented than "fun" oriented". So I always read the descriptions carefully and make sure to talk to my kids about the ones I think they might like before signing them up. My daughter participated in their metal-smithing camp recently and loved it. My son did a sports camp last summer and enjoyed it a lot. It gets a big thumbs up from me! read more

Celsius & Beyond is one of the best camps we sent our daughter to. It's a wonderful mixture of fun and REAL science. Kid's learn how the world is interconnected in all kinds of way. The focus is always on the subject matter, as not so much on managing the kids. The kids love it because they feel independent and within a wonderful group dynamic, they discover science. Science is taught in a fun and inspiring way and without the pressure of school performance and also in a very precice. We are looking forward to having our daughter participate in all the different camps they offer. Highly recommended for girls and boys! read more

I have sent my children here for the past 5-6 years and my children love this camp. My kids have dissected sharks, made perfumes and soaps, and visited various locations, including several beaches, Golden Gate Park, the zoo, the aquarium, and the SFSU planetarium. I love the variety of programs and the fact that the camp not only teaches science, but independence and responsibility. My kids have taken city buses to different locations and one was taken to a Japanese restaurant on the final day of camp. Plus, in the afternoon, the kids walk to the park to play. My kids have attended a variety of camps in the past seven years and this has been one of our favorites! read more
