I haven't purchased a new car in over 40 years and I haven't owned an American made car in over 50 years, so I went into my new, American car, purchasing experience with some trepidation. However, that concern was soon allayed with my visit to Cella Ford (New Bern, NC) and my meeting with nearly 20-year experienced salesman John Hanzel. John was a no-pressure, very approachable salesman that walked through the entire purchasing experience with honesty, sincerity, and most of all professionalism. I hadn't expected to buy the day I went to the dealership, but I left with a new vehicle and a very satisfied feeling. The Cella Ford dealership is a small, "independent" dealership that met my desire for a locally-owned business to deal with. One product line, nice showroom and as I understand it, the owner is in the dealership virtually every day. I appreciate that because with his name on the dealership (and the back of my 2024 Ford Bronco), that means something to me because as I have learned through my career that when the owner is present and invested, the product can consistently exceed expectations. My car buying experience with John included some haggling, as can be expected, but not the typical let me run this offer back to someone "behind the curtain" type. It was handled mostly by John, with a quick visit or two to whomever handled the trade-in value part of the transaction. All-in-all the process was handled in a timely fashion and the financing part was pleasant as well, with me choosing Ford financing with a better rate that I could get at the credit union. Last time I brought our vehicle in because of a tire losing pressure, they said it had a small nail in it. They claimed they fixed the tire the next day. The tire was flat. I took it to a tire shop to have it fixed, which cost me $20 and a five dollar tip, they never plug the tire when they pulled the nail out! Today they came and picked up the car supposedly had the parts into fix a service announcement on it and now at 2:30 they claim they didn't have all the parts in and it just came in this afternoon. It took them over an hour after calling to find out whether the vehicle was going to be ready or not today. The service department is horrible when it comes to communication for sure I will not be bringing my vehicle in there anymore. I would rather drive 45 minutes to take the car in myself to another Ford dealership to have it serviced. read more

One thing that is so very important to me is communication. Cella Ford service center does not fit into any category other than "terrible communication" or lets say "no communication whatsoever". I leave messages in the service center and they NEVER EVER return my calls. This will be the last Ford I ever purchase from Cella. In fact, I'm back to foreign autos and dealerships. Went to this dealership because their website listed 5 different vehicles for sale. After pulling in a gentleman approached our car and we asked if we could see a specific car. He said not likely and if they did have it, it would be sold. Ok, so how about any of these other cars listed for sale in stock on their website. Nope. Not a single one. Why are they being advertised as for sale? That's just how it is he says!!! I'm on my 6th Ford! Might try Nissan instead. read more

Just writing about an experience I had with one of the female sales people today. A few days ago I called to inquire about a used 2020 Toyota Tacoma SR V6 RWD which they are asking $33,798. She was going to check on the price. Today I received a call from her asking if I want to come in and see it. I replied no I'm from out of state, I asked if they are open to moving on the price. NO THATS THE PRICE, she replied and became very snotty and unprofessional when I mentioned I am in the process of purchasing two other 2022 Toyota Tacomas for less than what they are asking for a Used one! Do your homework... New 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR V6 with SX Package are $31,465 and then there are rebates. If you would like the SR5 Sport V6 would be $33,300. Yes there are dealers that are adding their markup but not all. Shop around. The bottom line is that this dealership has employees that are not courteous. When I mentioned ordering another she got snotty and hung up. Not a good image for a dealership! I just was asking about pricing. p.s. Prices listed on websites were over $1000 lower than at the dealer. Why that sounds minute the issue is comes when management won't fix the mistake. Also the dealer description was for a higher trim level and attempted to use that for leverage. When brought up management stated there was nothing they could do to rectify the mistake. It seems as if they put lower prices to get you in the door and then don't honor their word. My salesman was good but unfortunately I would not recommend this type of shady business. I wish they would have rectified the mistake and made the sale, customers should not be shrugged off when coming to a dealer to spend thousands of dollars on a vehicle. read more

There is really nothing I love more than purchasing a new/used vehicle. Really anything cars related I love. My husband on the other hand.... Not so much, so at the beginning of the year, I took it upon my self to find his new "daily driver". He's a truck man, and I was sick and tired of always having to drive my crossover on longer trips. Daily/hourly I would send him suv's I'd found online, but nothing was "singing" to him. Not until I drove past Cella Ford and saw a unique green Nissan Xterra. I bugged him for a week and he finally agreed to take a look. I've bought 4 cars in the past five years. I know what price I want and refuse to play the back and forth game. I've walkout of plenty of dealerships, only to go down the street and buy the exact same thing. When we got there the Nissan was gone. It had just left to head to another dealership. I was heartbroken. So the lovely man who had approached us quickly found a way to bring it back. We didn't play the numbers game. I told him a number that I thought was fair, and his sales manager came back with the perfect agreement. There was absolutely no hassle! It was so easy. The price was right and my APR was super low. They weren't able to get the car back in until the next day, but I effortlessly filled out all the necessary paperwork. On all accounts the car was ours. We were in and out, and eating lunch down the street in under an hour. My husband drove the Xterra first thing the next morning and he was in love (our salesman even came in on his day off). There were a few nicks and scratches that were a bit of an eyesore. They had it in the shop and taken care of within a few days. I can't go on about how great their costumer service is. You don't find that a lot anymore. My husband has a "new" vehicle (I think he's turning into a car guy) and I couldn't be more confident that we made the right decision. Absolutely do not buy used vehicles from this dealership. Bought a 2019 Silverado LTZ in June 2022 and they told me it was in great condition and everything worked on it. It was even blue certified which means absolutely nothing. Not even a month later it started having transmission issues and electrical issues and I have taken it to the shop ever since. Recently tried to trade it in and get rid of this nightmare at a GMC dealership and they pull up the car fax saying the vehicle has had a history of problems and 2 accidents. Cella failed to disclose this information and they said oh that didn't pop up on our end sorry. I even went to talk to them and be like hey help me out and they said yea we are sorry. So I waste my time pick a nice truck for them to lowball me and not offer anything and them saying well the truck is messed up so we can't offer much. They sold it to me defective and only had it for a month. I put almost 12k down on this truck and they can only offer me a fraction of that is extremely upsetting. Pls save your money and go to someplace else that actually does their Homework. read more

Preston and Brandon in the parts department are so fantastic!!! They made my day! I have a 2013 C-max hybrid. I bought it used and I did have any floor mats, on the driver side there are holes so the mat clips in but also, the shape for the driver side is very specific that even buying a generic to cut to size or going with weather tech, was not an option. Brandon and I discussed that online had I couldn't order the mats to then make my trip another day from Jacksonville. Because unfortunately his inventory was out as well. Preston called Brandon to the back and he came back to the counter with my heavy duty mats! They absolutely made my day! I will definitely call ahead next time for something specific that might not be in stock. That was completely my own fault, I probably would have still placed the order even if they had came up empty handed . But I am so happy to not have left with the latter! read more
