The event takes place under the pavilion in Roosevelt Park and this year was expanded to be a three day event. With a couple of nights of performances at the Dickens Opera House. So the L.J.F. isn't a destination event, meaning that people from all over the country come to Longmont for. But it is still deserving of the attention of any and everyone that loves jazz here in Colorado or is into supporting the local arts scene. LJF is a free event which is great. They have lots of local jazz, Latin jazz and salsa acts from the metro area. This year it was great to see some groups play that I've been wanting to see, like the Adam Bodine Trio, Quemando, the Longmont All Star Jazz Band, etc. Two artists whom I seen perform before t other festivals, Bob Montgomery and Eric Gunnison are always a treat to hear perform and were both excellent at the Longmont Jazz Festival. So this event in my opinion will only continue to grow year after year and I hope that you as well as others will be a part of it by attending. Looking forward to being there again next year!

Bring a chair or blanket to park on and enjoy the clean, high mountain air, some wonderful food in the Mall itself, and some uplifting tunes.

We found street parking too, you only have to pay the meter till 7. We set up our chairs on the courthouse lawn & walked around to find some dinner. The opening band was at 6 & the main band played promptly at 7...they also played non stop until 9! They have a few plastic chairs set up for people to use, first come first serve. There is a beer/margarita garden area that is fenced off if you would like an adult beverage. The band was amazing! If you like the Eagles definitely check these guys out they are called The Long Run!

When you walk in there's a bag with a few goodies in it and everyone gets a wine glass to take home. As each vendor shared information on their product they give a small ball of yarn. There was a new wine to try and a new food course with each vendor.

The tree is 110 feet tall (higher than the Rockefeller Center tree and tallest in North America) with 60,000 LEDs and choreographed light and music shows. It's a free event, operating from late November to New Year's. One of the best aspects is the ability to walk inside the tree which is 39 feet in diameter at the base and accomodates quite a few people. You can lie on the grass and look up at the amazing images which is a surreal experience. The tree was a collaboration between Spain's ILMEX Illumination and Brut Deluxe studio. It is definitely worth a visit.

I was fortunate enough to volunteer for the Friday night food and wine pairing event and I was so impressed with everyone involved. The venue was the perfect size, there were plenty of wines and and fabulous foods to taste and every was pleasant and having a great time. On the evening I was there it was not oversold as so many events can be, and I almost hate sharing this gem event because you'll want to go next year, lol. Sharon the coordinator that got me all setup in the wine pouring was super marvelous and shared so much wine expertise with me that just based on her happy to be there personality I'd go again. They had vendors showing jewelry and specialty knives and other great gifts and treasures as well, that is what makes this event more then just a drinking experience! Remember this event Coloradans for next year! It's a great event, and priced accordingly for what it offers!

So when a Yelp friend suggested we attend the fifth annual Chef and Brew Festival I was all in! So we made our way to EXDO Event Center to indulge in some brew and culinary pairings from the Mile High City's finest. What struck me first was how excited both the brewers and the chefs were about their particular pairings. Love the enthusiasm! While the pairings were very unique - that's not always a good thing. Some of them were almost trying too hard, while others nailed it, like Mizuna and Avery Brewing Company - their steamed bun with pork shoulder and pickled carrots were delish with the ginger sour beer. Some were just plain weird, take Citizen Rail and Crooked Stave - the muscle palisade peach concoction paired with a petite sour peach was just too odd for me. I can say safely that I had an overwhelming amount of seafood. There were at least three ceviches that I tried in one evening. Yikes! Set-up wise it was just a bit tight for general admission. There were very few tables (bar top height) throughout the space; making it terribly awkward to try and hold your taster of beer while eating your food; let alone satisfy your inner foodie and take a picture. Non-contestant vendors included: Bark Thins, Cutco, Corvus Coffee Roasters, and many more! There was also a company doing live screen-printing. For $20 you got to pick a shirt and a ink color to create your own Chef and Brew logoed shirt! Neat, though a bit rich for my blood after ticket cost. It was def a great concept! I can't believe I've missed the previous years! It's going on my "festival watch list" for the coming years.

Cider + Bluegrass = A great way to spend an autumn day!…read more After stopping by Stem Ciders a couple different times; I was hooked. Not just on their fabulous ciders, but also on their concept and execution. Plus everyone who works there is beyond friendly. Needless to say when I saw that they were having a fest: I was in! At $10 per ticket, this is one of the cheapest fests you're going to find in the Denver area. Plus your ticket cost goes towards a great cause: The Can'd Aid Foundation. Which supports music, arts, and culture! All the warm fuzzies! However, unlike most fests, you do pay per pour on top of your entrance fee. That was a little unexpected, but not terrible. The awesome folks at Stem Ciders had a few special tappings throughout the event. My personal favorite was a Hibiscus Ginger Firkin. I could seriously drink that one on the regular. Sooo yummy! They had several different bluegrass bands playing throughout the day, food trucks (including a vegetarian option), and a tricycle race. The tricycle race was hilarious! They divided everyone up by age so younger kids didn't have an unfair size advantage to the adult counterparts. Oh! Did I mention this was a family friendly event as well? It is! So bring the kids next year! Such a great way to spend a warm October day in RiNo! Can't wait for next year!
