Came here with a large group of colleagues for a Christmas celebration and I would say it's a solid 3 stars. It was a special Christmas menu - 3 courses (starter, main, and dessert) for £23. 3 stars because there was nothing wrong with it at all - everyone in our group had a good meal and a great time. However, not overly desperate to give it another try to warrant anything more.
~ Atmosphere:
The place has a nice atmosphere with a fully stocked bar as you walk in and a lovely water fountain. Definitely great for a special occasion.
~ Customer Service:
Not bad at all. They were attentive, quick, and efficient with their work.
~ Food:
One huge issue with the food for me is the inconsistent portion sizing. And when I say inconsistent, I do mean to the extreme. We had several people in the group order the lasagna to start, and you had people with main-sized portions to those who got only 3 bites worth of food. However, my starter was lovely (I ordered scallops with risotto). The scallops were perfectly seared and the risotto had a great flavour to it.
Portion sizing with the main was the same issue as you had people with piles of roast potatoes on their plate and others who only had a small amount. Seriously don't get why they just can't have the same set standard. I ordered the Beef Wellington and it was okay. Tasted fine as you can't really go wrong with a nice fillet or beef but it was very underseasoned and bland. They gave some side veggies to go with everyone's meal and it was just boiled veg. No seasoning or anything special, I just expected a bit more for a nice meal out.
Dessert was delicious, I had the Bailey's infused mint cheesecake and it was delicious. This was the more bizarre of them all as most people in the group ordered this cheesecake and we all got different ones! Some of us had chocolate dusting on top, others didn't. We even saw that we had completely different bases!! Strange as we all ordered the exact same thing!
Because we had a large group, we put in our ordered beforehand so there really was no excuse when it came to the inconsistency with our food, especially the dessert. They had good chefs here, but I feel they lack a standard, just some good cooks with no real direction in what the plan is or what they were doing.

Overall, the food was good. I wouldn't be opposed to coming here again. However, with the inconsistency throughout our meal and the underseasoned main, it's not something I'd be excited about. read more
