After years hearing people talk about Berns it was finally time for me to take a peak and I tell…read moreyou I was not disspointed! Berns is beautifully located close to strandvägen and has waterfront, a short walking distance from the best nightclubs in Sthlm (see my review of Soap Bar, Solidaritet). The building was finished 1863 and can hold up to 1200 people and thay have enough dancefloors for everyone! The moment I walked in to the "Stora Salongen" my mind went back to Vegas, this is the closest thing you can come to a big exclusive club as the ones in the US! They have everything I expect from a great club, a cool lightshow for you to go crazy at and enough dancefloors for everyone! Along the sides you have enough bars for an army and they have a big terrace were you can mingel or cool yourself of after hours of shufflin! The building itself is beautiful and the "Stora Salongen" reminds you of a royalpalace! I will be going here again and it's defiently the place to end the night out at!

I was here for a brunch on a Sunday, which starts at 11:30. The brunch is a bit pricey, when I was…read morethere it was 325 SEK per person excluding drinks, but you get a great selection of oysters, sushi and other Asian food. If you're vegetarian and don't eat fish, you won't find much here. The sushi was surprisingly good, although other courses were merely okay. The desserts were great and plentiful. Make sure to make a reservation - while they sometimes can accomodate a party of two without reservations, you'll have a wait. Parties larger than 2 people should definitely make a reservation.

I'm still not sure how to describe this place except to state that it's something of a hybrid…read morebetween an arts center and a shopping mall. At the same time, it really gives you a concentrated flavor of the Swedish modern design style most of us know only through trips to Ikea. It stands in a central area of Stockholm south of Sergels torg where the big, elliptical plaza sits with the geometric, black-and-white triangle design, a most arresting sight seen from the building's windows (photo: http://bit.ly/2aFTOud). If neither big Viking ships nor an ABBA tribute is your cup of tea, then I'd say this is a good place to chill during the day. A good portion of the center is devoted to performance venues like the Stockholm City Theatre, the Hörsalen lecture hall or the more club-like Kilen where young stand-up comedians perform. On the fourth floor is a children's library called Rum för Barn, where kids can hang and read books or listen to storytellers on kid-friendly couches. There's also a comic book library called Serieteket. Jamie W. and I strolled through the Design Museum which showed unique artifacts that gave way to bigger design trends (photo: http://bit.ly/2aWbJ0f). We were also particularly fascinated by an area devoted strictly to serious chess players (photo: http://bit.ly/2b24T9T). Definitely worth a stop.

The pain au chocolat was also excellent: crisp layers with just the right amount of dark chocolate. Coffee was smooth and rich, and refills on brewed coffee are free. The café has a relaxed vibe, and even though it was busy, the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Recommend if you're looking for a great coffee and pastry spot, convenient to city center. Outdoor seating if you're lucky enough to land a spot. If not, there's a nice park across the way, if you order take away.

Although the passageway where the interior seating is situated seemed awkward it actually worked out well. Service, despite a crowd, was fairly quick, I would rate the coffee an A or 9/10 on the scale of strength, low acidity/smoothness. It is espresso based and made to exact order. There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. TIP: You can buy beans or ground coffee for home brewing.
