He offered to run simple tests on batteries and inspections of the car for me for free. He also responds quickly to requests, questions via Yelp and phone. My alternator of the car was bad and Mr Derek gave me two options: remanufactured and OEM. He clearly explained what the pros and cons of each one and respected my decision. I had removed some cosmetic parts from the dash like the glove compartment side panels and kick panels, but I never touched the electrical components. When I brought the truck in, everything was working fine. Expert Auto agreed to finish the job and put everything back together. After spending over $2,300, I picked it up three days later only to find the digital clock and radio didn't work, and the AC wouldn't power on until you drove for about two minutes. When I voiced my concerns, I was told they couldn't confirm everything worked beforehand and that the AC delay was due to the battery being disconnected for several days, insisting the "computer" would catch up and fix itself. Two weeks later, the problem persisted and the AC went out completely. I took it back, and after another inspection, they said they didn't know what was wrong and advised me to take it to a wiring shop. After paying $250 for a wiring diagnosis, I was told the dash needed to be taken apart again--at a cost of over $4,500 with no guarantee of a fix. When I called Expert Auto again, Tim told me there was nothing they could or would do. Now, on a fixed income, I'm left with no AC or heat going into winter, unable to afford repairs, and Expert Auto refuses to make it right. Absolutely horrible service--save yourself the headache and go elsewhere!

I have a car that has a hardstart/idle issue. After spending a lot of time and effort trying to solve it myself and failing, I decided I needed help from someone with more than the meager knowledge I have; so I took it to Automotive Diagnostic Center to have them find the problem. I made sure that I provided them, both in written and verbal form, a comprehensive description of the problem and the actions that I had taken to try to solve it so that they would have a good starting point. I received a call from them saying that the oil needed changed and I could come pay the diagnostic fee, $100, and pick up my car, or they could change the oil, $60, but they couldn't proceed with the diagnosis until the oil had been changed. To be clear, I am not complaining that they said the oil needed changed because, it did. I'm not even complaining about the cost they quoted me for the oil change; $60 is reasonable, a bit steep, but not horrible. My problem is, they charged me $100 to do a surface scan with an OBD II, start the car and check the oil. I'm sorry, but, can you not see the issue here, ADC? This is the kind of stuff that so many shops pull that make people distrust and dislike you. For $100, you could have done any number of things (all things that I don't have the tools to do nor the knowledge to know what to look for and why I took to someone who should): * Compression test * Blow by test * Intake manifold vacuum test * Fuel pressure test * Check the spark plugs * Use a fancier OBD II to do a more in depth diagnosis to see what each of the components are actually doing to see if one is just barely working or acting in a way that indicates a short or bad wire/connection. Those are just some examples off the top of my head. I'm sure that other things could have been done. What you did do, I could have done, and had done myself and would not have brought it to you had that been what needed to be done.

I asked these gentlemen to do a pre-purchase style, all encompassing inspection on my vehicle. The only thing I can lend them credit for is that the inspection itself was seemingly thorough as they provide a report with photos and details about what they looked at and found, but this is where the satisfactory service ends and the cartoonishly greedy and fraudulent, stereotypical scammer mechanic antics begin. - I was charged $200 for the aforementioned inspection after being led to believe it would cost me $182, the least of their crimes. - Quoted $1000 for spark plugs replacement this job is a little more involved for my particular vehicle due to a plenum gasket, but if you're reading this and you don't know anything about cars just know this is a criminally inflated price for a relatively straightforward job - I was offered a "BG Fuel/Air Induction Service" for $230. My car has a port injected engine, not a direct injection engine, making this service entirely unnecessary. Once again if you don't know anything about cars, this is like offering to put sunscreen in your hair to preserve it. Complete nonsense. This offer was either a clear upsell or a display of utter incompetence - They recommended a full cooling system replacement for $570. Despite being the correct color and showing no signs of contamination, the mechanic implicated that the coolant and hoses were degraded and should be replaced - Transmission fluid drain & refill quoted for $288. This one is not as ridiculous as the spark plugs but still an inflated price. - I was quoted $85 dollars for a cabin air filter replacement, which is a $10 part and a 5 minute job. Above are only the most egregious examples of the unreasonably high prices I was quoted for nearly every item. Please note that the vehicle in question is a Toyota and parts are not remotely difficult to source or expensive, nor is most of the maintenance particularly difficult to preform. I took a different car here a few years ago for an inspection and even then they came back with several questionable items, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt at the time. I gained absolute certainty that this establishment is to be avoided after I took my car to a different, reputable mechanic who ended up preforming the actual necessary repairs for a fraction of the cost. If you are unable to take your car literally anywhere else in town, be very cautious and get a second opinion before approving any work here. No clue how they have any loyal customers.

With the engine in protective mode, I was able to limp the 120 miles in to Wichita on a Thursday night. Shayla booked me in for 8:30 am on Friday and by 10:00 am, they had diagnosed the main problem - throttle body and the secondary problem - battery registration. I had to spend the weekend in Wichita waiting on parts but by noon on Monday, I was back on the road and finished 4,000 more miles of my trip without any trouble. Had I waited in Stillwater, there was only one place in town that would even look at my BMW and he said he couldn't get to it until the following Thursday - 7 days from when my vehicle broke down. BMER Tech did a great job and I only wish that I lived closer so I could use them as my regular independent BMW Mechanic.
