I love doing high tea as it is something I look forward to as a new type of dining experience. A friend suggested this place for tea and we were excited about the new adventure. I saw mixed reviews about the service but I had no issues on my visit. Yes, the wait staff were mostly young but they were nice, hospitable, and attentive. We sat for tea at 1 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The tea room was full. The Cedarhurst blend was ok, the spice blend tea was my favorite. Round 1: White chocolate cranberry scone and with Devonshire cream Round 2: Spinach & artichoke Empanadas with pesto tea sandwiches Round 3: The assorted plate of Mozzarella Tortellini skewers, Hummus and roasted beet crostini, cucumber tea sandwiches and beets were also good. The grand finale: Dessert is my favorite and these treats were yummy. I would pass on the Tiramisu Shooter as it was soggy at the bottom. But the Pumpkin raisin cookie was my fave along with the florentine Chocholate brownie. All in all it was a good experience. read more

What a blast! We came here for an afternoon high tea and it was so much fun. The place was decked out with Christmas decorations and looked very festive. The moment we were seated, we were greeted with adorable tea mugs and table setting. The entire atmosphere was very classy. The teas were so aromatic and perfect with all the tiny food treats. Although the portions were small, we were surprisingly full after the 9-course meal. The food were good but my favorite was the white chocolate cranberry scone with Devonshire cream. Wow Cedarhurst Mansion was a fun place to come for high tea. They have a 9 course high tea service, and it has everything that you want! They have serve two different teas during the course of the service. The place: The mansion is beautiful. Everything is kept up nicely and is in great condition. Before tea, we walked around the grounds to look at the outside and the garden too, which is amazing. The high tea: The high tea service here worked liked a well oiled machine. The workers did a fantastic job and had great attitudes! The food was delicious, and the desserts were sweet! The tea was good too. They switch to a different tea right before dessert plates. A little rough around the edges, but a great experience nevertheless. Took my mother-in-law to tea for the first time. Food ranged from ok to yummy. Small portions but it adds up by the time you go through all the courses. Charming dishware. Loved the history of the building as well as the history of the current owners. Hope they continue developing this idea: more tea varieties, photo area with proper tea hats, etc. Used groupon and paid the expected automatic gratuity. I had a Groupon for tea for 2. It was delightful with live music and multiple courses/teas. Easy parking and highway access. Must drive here though no public transportation. I'm not sure how this venue stays in business. The customer service is absolutely non-existent. I tried on 4 occasions to contact them to schedule an event via phone and email. Not only did my email go unanswered but every call went straight to voicemail with no reply--and on the final attempt I was hung up on. I went here for afternoon tea with my mom for a Mother's Day present. The house is so beautiful and they did a fantastic job serving everyone! We had a great time. Also, kudos on being ready and willing to provide caffeine free tea. Delicious and warm. Scones and dessert portions were delicious. Potential improvements: An introduction to the house history and/or history of afternoon tea would be so cool and really make the experience. Fix up the guard house or shed that is right on the driveway. It ruins the grandeur of the place a bit when you have a rotting part. The sandwiches where pretty good, but could be improved (especially the egg salad) the scones and dessert were to die for- please don't change! read more

Don't be fooled by the menu listing "Devonshire cream"...it is really sugared whip cream. The one star, conservatively, is for the interior ambience..the library with garden view or thr ballroom is nice. The tea sandwiches are also good. The service is quite possibly the worst I have ever seen or could imagine. Imagine having to ask for each used plate or cutlery to be removed from the table; each person having to independently request a stir spoon or whatever other essential is missing. It was as if teenagers were asked to serve in a restaurant for the first time. I had to ask more than 5 times what the tea would include and it was difficult for anyone to articulate a direct answer. The waitstaff didn't introduce themselves or introduce, guide or even answer any possibly inquiry about the tea service, itself. There was no host..we had to seat ourselves. The cashier wore tennis shoes, shorts and an old, sweaty tank top. Every question was met with a smile, no answer, and deferring to another location or person who would then do the same. Confusing and disappointing experience! The staff, obviously, to their defense, has never been trained or probably has never even witnessed a tea service, but the more disappointing aspect was that management at no time intervened or improved any part of thr experience, rather they were part of the smiling deferrals and dismissals..demonstrating a contentment with their level of quality offered and inaction while observing customer dissatisfaction. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews, but this trip just didn't work out too well. First off when we arrived it was a really cold day and there was no indication that you had to park far away (~200 ft) to get to the building. It would have been nice if they had a sign that you could drop off your older guests rather than walk on a narrow icey road with cars passing you by. As for the building, beautiful old large estate looks great from the outside. Inside, the Parlor Room and Historical Area are charming although a little musty smelling. We waited in line to pay for about 10 minutes, hung up our own coats, and we're giving our table number. The dining area was full and nicely appointed but a little on the chilly side and the tables were folding card tables with tablecloths and very rickety - if you touched the table you risked spilling someone's tea! As for the service, it was a little disoriented with several people out of uniform running around dropping things off. They were friendly enough but it seemed a little rushed and had to wait 10 or 15 minutes between a couple of the courses. As for the food, not quite up to $30 a person. The Tea was bulk steeped and tasted like Lipton. The first round of small scones (1 per person) were dry and tasted like cornbread and were served without butter or jams w just sweetened whipped cream that they call Devonshire Cream. The second "course" serving of quiche was equally small and tasted like Costco. Third course of finger sandwiches was equally disappointing. Where as the cucumber sandwich was pretty tasty, The egg saladm sandwich was tasteless and the tomato and pesto tasted more like tomatoes with a mayonaise based salad dressing. For dessert, the small carrot cake was tasty but the vanilla ice cream tasted like an inexpensive tub from Cub. Overall, not too pleased with the outing. read more

Saw a Groupon for a 9 course afternoon tea and it sounded interesting! Went with a friend and really enjoyed ourselves. They have really cute china, plates, teapot and such on the tables. They bring out little sandwiches, scones, mini quiche, green tea ice cream, and some other courses. The first pot of tea is called the "cedarhurst blend", then for the 2nd pot of tea, you can choose from 2 other choices. Their website listed many other tea options, so it was kind of disappointing to have such a limited selection once we got there. Also they automatically add on 18% gratuity so beware of that. I don't think it's a big deal since they are constantly moving around to make sure everyone has everything so they are working for that gratuity! Afternoon tea ends with a little mini tour and history of the place! Dress code is supposed to be business casual, but you can totally get super dressy! Saw quite a few ladies decked out with hats with feathers and flowers and the like. read more

Saw a groupon deal and thought it would be fun to experience something new. I went with a friend, her daughter, and my sister. It was all our first high tea that we ever attended. We were all dressed up in like a vintage style clothing and all with fascinators on. We were not sure if we were over dressed or under dressed. When we got there. There were people of mixture of clothing, couple with fascinators on, couple with hats, some with just just normal business casual on. If I remembered, I saw someone wore a short. We even got few compliments on our outfits. The food was a nine course and they gave us a very good portion (so don't expect it to be like a full meal, high tea are not meant to have full meals), we got full just from the tea tasting. The food was alright not the greatest, but we thought the tea were great especially the Cedarhurst blend (they gave us two type). The teacups, plates, and other stuff were very beautiful we thought. All in all, we had a great time and would do it again! It was a great experience. It's something to experience at least once. Don't be shy to be a little dressy that is if you like to dress up.;-) oh, it's also a good idea to look up the history of the mansion if you do not know anything about it. ;-) read more

A beautiful place, with mostly nice service. Portions (especially the savory course) were skimpy, and one waiter was aggressive about taking our small plate away before we had finished. A high tea in England or Ireland never leaves you hungry. Seconds of every course are offered throughout your visit. Went there as a guest on someone's Groupon. We all enjoyed it. The food was good, we were served two different types of tea and the waitstaff was attentive. We were in the main room and the room was filled. It was fun to to see all the ladies in their hats and there was a birthday party for a young group of girls. Poorly run management. We were having a family wedding at Cedarhurst and happily paid our deposit with them. Immediately the vendors listed by Cedarhurst were all no longer being worked with, and Cedarhurst had new vendors. So we started working with those vendors, and guess what Cedarhurst changed its mind again and the second set of vendors were out. They repeatedly changed the contract and who you could and could not hire as vendors. After this occurred numerous times, we made the decision that Cedarhurst could not be counted on to give us the wedding of our dreams on our wedding day, if they could not even fiqure out their list of vendors from one day to the next. So we found a new venue (Landmark Center) had a wonderful wedding and no problems. It was similar in pricing and there were no issues with them from day one. Sadly, even though all the contract changes were done at the hands of Cedarhurst, they still kept our entire deposit and offered no remorse or compensation for not having their business practices and company running smoothly. My daughter (10 yrs old) took her Grandma there for an English tea. The table looked very fancy. The food was very delicious, my daughter's favorite was the desserts. Highly recommend!! It was an absolutely lovely experience! The food was great, the ambience was really nice. The only disappointing part was not being able to really tour the mansion. Bought a Groupon for 4 people, to go with my family's big reservation for Christmas Tea. Tried to call the place with no answer, and no hours on their website to tell me when they are open and available. E-mailed them and asked them to add our 4 people onto the reservation, and got a confirmation e-mail (multiple days later) stating that the 4 people in my group were added to the reservation. When we got there, they only had the reservation for 12 people, when there it was supposed to be for a total of 18. The 12 people were all able to sit together and the others (including me) had to sit 2 rooms over away from the group and on a table they JUST put together with no napkins, no water glasses, and people walking back and forth to get their coats. To top it all off, the Groupon that we bought had no indication that we would have to pay for the $20+ in "taxes and gratuity" in addition to the $80 we already spent on the Groupon. The hostess that helped us made no effort to apologize or figure out what happened to our reservation and make it right. We will NOT be going to this place EVER again. read more

Overall, it was a fun and fancy day. I attended with my sister, my daughter, and my granddaughter. It was a magical time for my granddaughter. The food was delightful. The atmosphere was wonderful, the ambiance was pleasant. It would be nice if the teapots came with "cozies" so the tea would stay warmer. The mansion could use some sprucing up. We were fortunate enough to sit by the bay window. I did notice several window panes that were broken, paint that was chipping, water damage on the ceiling and the grounds could use some work as well. The staff was pleasant and eager to help. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. My granddaughter was over the moon happy to have had a "fancy" tea. I was able to obtain my tickets through Living Social. I felt the price was reasonable for what I paid. I am not sure the experience, with the mansion in its current condition, would be worth the full price per person. But, we did enjoy ourselves and would consider doing it again ~ if some maintenance was done to the grounds and to the mansion. read more
