The reason we played that many holes is my one way drive was 1 hour and 45 minutes and my playing partner drive was 1 hour and 30 mins. I came from the East and he from the West. We always had the first tee time. So much fun. Of course we bought stock in ibuprofen. If we lived thirty minutes away we would join but now I live 2:05 hours away and have to drive through Atlanta traffic. We will see Meadow lakes as soon as it warms up. I lived in Rome back in '09 for a couple of years, and if this place existed, there would probably be a board with a picture of me saying, "Lifetime customers," because I would totally be in here everyday. For starters, $13 per person for half an hour is not bad. You get to throw a real axe at real wood. This is none of that come one come all place or kiddie plastic axe and foam blocks type of place. The first 30 minutes went by so quickly, because it was so much fun. The games are not automatic interactive, but honestly I liked that fact that they weren't, because for some games, like the wheel of fortune based game, it would have taken forever, so the set up with the projector and the mouse/keyboard were really nice. The only downside to this place was the distance between the throwing lane, tables, and the throwing lane or bathrooms if you are on the back end, but the spaces in the Rome downtown buildings aren't that big to matter where you go, so I don't fault the owner for that. This just does make good business since. Why not rent 1 station for $25/hr no mater how many people throw at that particular throwing station. That way, more people can throw and buy more food and drink. It's ridiculous for me and my wife to pay $50 bucks/hr just to throw some axes. It's a ripoff. I won't be going back until they fix this issue.

The best part for him was a little jumping platform in the middle of the swimming area, which he cannonballed from again and again. "No diving" is stenciled on the side of it, but all swimming is at your own risk with no lifeguards. He and his 2year old sister also played in the sand with the bucket and shovel we brought. There was plenty of free parking and a small concession stand with snacks available and a friendly lady working it who also sold us our tickets. That's where the positives stop. One of the very few rules was to use an ashtray but clearly not everyone did. And I didn't go into the bathroom but my husband, who generally is far more positive that I am, described it as "makeshift" with a sink and a toilet and just a wall for privacy (no stall). When I asked if they were clean, he gave me a so-so hand gesture -- this during the Covid-19 pandemic with no mention of it anywhere on site or on their website. The water was a little gross with floating and sunken vegetation along about half of the bottom. But the grossest of all was the goose poop along the waters edge. When we arrived, someone was at the water's edge raking vegetation out of it, but just left it laying along the shore next to the goose poop. Why bother? Finally, on our way out, my son and I both were having trouble with getting the water to come from the outdoor shower with more than a trickle. An older woman opened the door from the concession/admission booth and admonished him not to break it -- "We just had that fixed!" My husband walked up and said that it was designed wrong, making it difficult to pull. So next time I will save a lot of drive time and about $10 in admission and go a day use area on Lake Allatoona. Sorry, kid.

They sell can drinks, hotdogs and nachos for pretty cheap. There's a gazebo to have birthday parties and picnics at and then of course you can play in the sand and floats in the water. There is a dock in the middle where kids can swim out and jump off. I don't think this would be something worth traveling out to do, but it is a wonderful place to visit if you are already here. We go there 1000 times each summer since it's right down the road. Owners are so nice, and I've always been kind to us. I've never had any trouble here from other visitors.

Instead of a full axe-throwing venue, there's now only one axe lane left. The rest of the space is mostly golf simulators and a cigar bar. Even though the cigar area is technically sectioned off, the smoke smell seeps through the entire bar and makes the atmosphere unpleasant. It was really disappointing to plan a night of axe throwing and find out on arrival that it's basically a golf/cigar lounge with a single token axe lane. If you're looking for a true axe-throwing experience, this is no longer the place.

The initial training was thorough and quick and easy for anyone to understand. If you needed assistance at any point they were there to help. This experience is not for the fearful or timid, but my friend who was apprehensive at first was very enthusiastic about the final "Double Dare" zipline at the end. If you're looking for a good time in the trees Daredevil will deliver!

I had read some scary reviews before going, and I think some were a bit exaggerated...still, there were definitely points where I didn't feel safe. Is anchoring a bunch of lines into a dead tree OK? I'm no zip line expert, but that seems like some pretty questionable engineering. All in all, I'd say 80% of the staff were really good, and 80% of the runs seemed legit. I think if they could shore up the other 20% and boot out the 17 year-old staff members who don't give a sh*t, this place could be really awesome.

As an active river type, my boyfriend and I decided to pack up and head out to Rome for a day on…read morethe river. Our expectations were simple: Tubes, music, and enjoying each others company. We put in the information for our GPS for River Ratz, only to be met with an old, dilapidated building beside the tracks. Come to find out, this was not the right location. So, we put in another address, which then took us to the drop off, still no place to pay. At this point, we're frustrated, so we ask the gentlemen there at the drop off "Where do we actually pay for this float?" He gives us the address, and yet again, we start another journey. We finally get to this bar called Cosmic Dog. The 'place to pay' was a pop up tent on a sidewalk that was leeching off of the Cosmic Dogs parking lot. The attendant was really sweet and personable. With that said, we quickly learned that at 11:00... they already sold out all of their equipment. We just drove an hour, to three locations, to find this place. She reached out to her team and she said they would get back to her. After 30 minutes, we come back to the tent and learn that she still hadn't heard anything. We asked her to check again, and come to find out, they could squeeze us in. We were happy to hear this, and decided to stick around. At 12:18, an hour and some change later, the 'shuttle' (which was an out transport van that sounded like it was about to break down) came to pick us up and drop us off where we'd just been a little over an hour before they picked us up. FINALLY, we get to the water. We're given two tubes, two life vests, and we're offered a tube for our cooler. We denied the additional tube and asked for straps to connect to one another. Apparently that was against the rules, even though they wanted us to strap the cooler tube to our tubes... After 2 hours of trying to get on the water, we finally get down the boat ramp (which is public access), and we get in.... The flow of the river was exhaustingly slow, you are in the heat of the sun for anywhere from 3-5 hours, and there are hardly any places to stop. We understand that this had nothing to do with the company, just nature. BUT.... Over the course of our 5 hours float, my boyfriends tube deflated 3 times, where we had to stop and inflate it on the bank of the river that did not exist. We paid $41 dollars for this... you'd think that the tubes would be good enough to withstand a gruelingly slow float down the river. At the end of the float, you have to 'stick to the right' or you will 'go bye bye' down the wrong side of the river. You have to get off at this boat ramp (also public access) that is surrounded by extremely deep water until you get up to the ramp. You hand a gentleman your tube, and then walk 'a couple blocks' back to your car. Ultimately, our first experience with this business was very underwhelming. It was unsafe, seemed like they threw the entire operation together in less than 24 hours, and then you get off of the river into the middle of a public boat launch. Not to mention the deflating tube that we paid $20 a piece for... and the exhaustingly slow float. ---------------------- If you are looking for a nice, comfortable float that offers some shade... take an extra hour drive up north and hit up the original tubing joints in Helen. If you are looking to kayak/ SUP, RIVER RATZ is the PERFECT PLACE FOR YOU. But us, we will never visit here again. Thank you for the experience and we hope you all the best, but our first impression just didn't work out well. ------------------ If you would like to have a better impression on your new patrons, post your current status on your website. Let people know that you are sold out. Get a safer, bigger van OR BUS. Let people tie their floats together. Recommend bringing paddles or ores to gain some speed on the float. Or just offer kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.

We went to Rome with a plan to go tubing. After doing research, we chose River Ratz. We were…read moreexpecting a 3-4 hour float but were told this morning that it would probably be closer to 5 because the river was "low and slow". When they tell you to count the bridges and after the 5th one to get to the right, they mean it!! After the 5th bridge, the water starts flowing backwards and it is difficult to get over to exit. I literally got out of my tube, swam and pulled the tube to the side. When they ask if you want to take a paddle, the answer is YES! And, I suggest getting 1 paddle per person. When they ask if you want a strap to connect the tubes, the answer is YES!! We had 2 people in floats and a cooler in the 3rd float, I recommend 3 straps so you are in a circle and not a straight line. You can take a cooler and I recommend going early and renting the cooler float for $10. The team that helped us at check in, into the river and out of the river were nothing but professional. I would do this trip again and would book again with River Ratz.
