Hilltop Commons Senior Living - Two Chief Prepared Meals Daily

I hate leaving negative reviews but this is really important for people to know who are considering putting their loved ones here. Between rude kitchen staff and the absolute garbage that comes out of the kitchen, my mother who is a current resident is not getting enough nutrition and feels intimidated to speak up to try to get more food. My mother has witnessed staff, upon hearing a complaint about the meal, come up to the resident who complained and in a sickly sweet, passive aggressive manor, berate her by telling her, "You AREN'T going to eat this after we ALL worked SO hard to make you this meal?" Dishes that are listed on the menu come out unrecognizable and look and taste completely different from one person to the next. Many meals don't have enough protein, and many are smothered in a lumpy, unrecognizable and not tasty gravy. For $3,000 a month, I wish i could demand better for my mother!! But it seems there is no "better" here when it comes to the food. It's a shameful practice, cutting corners on cost, using crappy ingredients that DO NOT fulfil the nutritional needs of seniors! The only really tasty thing seems to be the ice cream that comes with every meal... I'm sorry, I recognize this is our sad American standard, but pumping the elderly (many of whom already clearly exhibiting signs of cognitive decline) full of sugar and carbs should be illegal! Try to complain to Raystone management and they cannot help, as "the kitchen is run by a different company entirely." Great accountability. My mom will be moving back home where are least I know she will get her nutritional needs met by someone who ACTUALLY cares. To be clear, everything and everyone else associated with this facility is beautiful and lovely. The problems again are with the food and kitchen staff.

My wife and I spent a lot of time visiting Hilltop, so we were able to gain a very good appreciation of the place and we got to know many of the staff and residents. Hilltop is very clean and orderly, they provide tons of amenities and activities for residents, and the building has a beautiful courtyard full of trees, plants, and flowers. What really sets Hilltop apart is their highly skilled and professional staff. They are the warmest, friendliest, and most attentive people who make everyone feel like family. They work very hard to build a home and community for their residents. We are going to miss our visits there.

Do NOT rent from Collins Property Management. Their agents are dishonest, lack integrity, and the…read moreowner doesn't seem to care. I reached out to them minutes after they listed a rental on Chief Kelly Drive, and followed their application policies. Showing agent Leslie Robbins called me the following morning to let me know I was first in line and would have the first opportunity to see the rental and apply. She also stated that Sunday would be the first opportunity to see it. When I arrived for the appointment on Sunday, Leslie informed me that someone else had already submitted an application. I questioned her multiple times about how it was possible that someone else had already applied when she told me I was first in line and she responded that they just got a new application system and that somehow someone was able to submit an application and they can only process one application at a time, so if that person is approved then the rental is theirs. I called the office and spoke with owner Craig Adachi. I explained the situation and he said he would speak with Leslie to get her take on the situation. He called me back two days later after I'd left another voicemail message. He said Leslie told him that I was second in line and that she showed the property to this other individual on Friday because they were first in line. I again explained to Craig that Leslie told me I was first in line for this property and he said that it was my word against hers and that he believes her. I suppose it is her word against mine. Leslie lied to me and lied to the company's owner. She cheated the system (I'm sure for a friend). How can anyone trust a company like this? I can almost guarantee that I am a more qualified renter than this other individual, so their client (the homeowner) also loses out. What a terrible way to do business. I'm disheartened by the way this was handled, and a bit disappointed in humanity.

Craig and Devon went out of their way to accommodate me and get me in the apartment I wanted with little fuss. Super nice people who will go the extra mile for you! If I were a landlord I would want them being the liaison between me and my prospective tenants. I have had bad experiences with another property management company in Grass Valley, so these guys were a breath of fresh air.

Hello, I have been a resident at Springhill Garden…read moreApartments since 2008. I am writing about the new managers (no longer owned by Valley Fair) who represent a company called Cambridge. I have had nothing but miscommunications with the new landlord. It is one woman who works by herself. I recently had an altercation with the landlord. She took off an outdoor water nozzle/handle that I had been using to water my flowers on my patio. When I asked about the water nozzle, I explained that I have been using it extensively to water my plants. I asked her to put it back on to which she refused with no explanation. I spoke to some other tenants who reside just next to the water source and discovered that one of my neighbors had complained about me using it. This neighbor and I spoke and worked out what I thought was a viable solution so that my using the faucet would not impede his enjoyment of his unit in any way. I agreed to only use the faucet at certain times of day, to which he agreed and all seemed well. The landlord still refuses to put the handle back on the water faucet. Now, this may not seem like a big deal to some people. The problem is, as I explained to the landlord AND my neighbor, that I have two large planter pots that require a lot of water. I use a large container to water these (which I bought at SPD Market and love) and it does not fit under my kitchen or bathroom sink. In addition, prior to my accessing this outdoor faucet I had been filling up my can under the tub faucet. I quickly learned how dangerous this is! I spilled a small amount of water without noticing and almost had a tragic fall in my small bathroom. I tried many times to perfect my water-bearing techniques, but it happened again, I slipped and almost fell AGAIN. I remembered that I had seen faucets outdoors, so I found one that had a clear path leading up to it, no rocks, tree stumps, shrubbery, etc. and began using this faucet. No more slipping. In addition, the faucet is an easy place to fill up my water bottle on the way out to hike local trails, or if I forget to fill up before a long drive to work, or school, etc. The faucet is the only one that is both easily accessible and not too far away from my unit, a full water container gets pretty heavy. The part that worries me is I had no idea I was disturbing anyone! I felt bad but also annoyed that no one came and spoke to me first before taking the faucet handle off. The act, in and of itself, seems punitive. I actually have found improvement in my living here using it. It is a nice walk outdoors to enjoy the beautiful trees and grounds. Gardening is part of my mental health wellness plan, and I have gotten good at it! I am a reserved person, I keep to myself, and have few neighbors that I trust outright, but to be bullied in your neighborhood isn't right. The landlord still has not placed the faucet handle back on, even though I explained to her that my neighbor (the one who complained) and I came to a resolution, and furthermore, she never provided me with "Good Cause," before removing it (Good Cause is in the lease, as are clauses like, no neighbor residing on/at the premises shall impede the enjoyment of living of another neighbor, etc.). I explained all of my safety concerns etc, still, nothing..her actions don't feel like negligence or oversight. As I mentioned, she and I have not gotten along since day 1 of the takeover from Valley Fair. I am so unhappy with her/Cambridge's management style.
