My husband booked the Top Floor Suite (Room 324) for our anniversary, and unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. Check-in was scheduled for 3:00 p.m., but we had to wait until about 4:30 p.m. before our room was ready. While the suite itself was clean, it felt quite outdated for the price point. After dinner, we returned to the room and used the jet tub, which was very clean and enjoyable. However, the rest of the evening was disappointing. Around 10:00 p.m., there was significant noise from children running up and down the hallways and staircases on either side of our room. The suite is not soundproof, and with staircases on both sides--including a wooden one leading to the main lobby below--the noise carried heavily. This continued until around 11:00 p.m. I contacted the front desk to report the excessive noise. The staff member was polite and apologized, mentioning she would speak to the parents and note our file for compensation. Unfortunately, the noise continued even after the call. The next morning, when asked about our stay, I again mentioned the noise issue. Another apology was offered, but no compensation or follow-up was provided. For $350 per night, we expected a much more relaxing and updated experience--especially for a special occasion. read more

We couldn't get a place to stay in the resort but we tried food in the restaurant. We literally went to the place for food. Amazing food and amazing customer service. Really beautiful setting for dining in. Food is a little expensive but totally worth the price. I tried bison steak, Elk lasagna, Wagyu beef dumpling, escargot, pecan dessert. BOTTOM LINE: Decent rooms and one of the nicer restos in town. I come up to Timmins not infrequently and tend to stay here. It is hotel and also home to one of the better (and pricier) resto in town. First, the hotel. Service is good and staff have always been friendly. Decor is "classic Canadian" for lack of a better word. There is a rudimentary gym, which appeared to be an attempt to stuff as many machines in as possible, leaving little to room to actually navigate between machines! There's also a spa, but it's considered separate from the hotel, and as such charges for services separately - too bad, because I really wanted to use their saunas. The staff were super accommodating on a recent visit, and was upgraded for free to the "Upper Canada Suite" - read, baller suite. As nice as it was, there were some odd design elements like having the jacuzzi on the opposite side of the room to the washroom, and installing the motion detecting light switch BEHIND doors. Now for the resto. Easily one of the priciest ones in town, but they often have a selection of nice meats and fishes not found elsewhere. Their portions never look that big, but I often end up leaving stuffed! I recently had some nice BISON STEAK WITH HOLLANDAISE SAUCE, which was just slightly more well done than I would have liked but otherwise, delicious. I also tried their special of CHIPOTLE CATFISH WITH SCALLOPS, which was really good. One of the keys is to order a side of their potato layers with bacon - it's so rich! If you ever come up to this neck of the woods, this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

Regret staying here. The nature tour and Nordic spa was great but the hotel itself was the worst I've stayed in. We're on our third room because of broken fireplace, lights, TV. The second room had a filthy floor and holes in the chair upholstery. Our current room has not been serviced since we got here 3 days ago. Our garbages haven't been emptied yet. Our curtain rod is falling off the wall so we can't open and close it. My daughter moved to Timmins so we will return to the city but will never stay here again read more

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in Timmins and were lucky to find this resort. The hotel has a quaint feel and the staff was very friendly. The best part of this resort is the spa. We got the Nordic package and it was fabulous! There are hot and cold baths with a roaring fire and meditation rooms. You can even rent robes and slippers. It is perfect for relaxation and to unplug. This is a hidden gem and so worth the stay! Their packages are excellent and well worth it! The restaurant was ok and nice to have something on site. We went for dessert and drinks. It wasn't packed, but the service was really slow. The dessert wasn't anything special. Overall, we would definitely come back and stay! read more

After hearing so much about how this was the best restaurant in town, I had to try it. Mind you though, that they don't have a lot of competition. Service was unbelievably slow and the food looked and tasted like it was straight out of the 80's! My whole family frequently dines here, uses the spa services, and recommends the rooms to our out of town guests. Today for lunch we dined in the restaurant with some family from the US and it's my last visit. The coffee was cold, the lettuce in my mom's salad was all brown, my Ruben had so much mustard in it that it's all I could taste. 3 of us got our dishes first (Caesar salad, fish and chips, Ruben and fries). We were almost done eating when my grandmother finally got her poutine...that was cold. When the server came around I expressed my surprise with the quality of our food, and she assured us she would "do something". We could see her speaking to the owner about it but nothing was done, not so much as an apology, and we left feeling pretty unhappy with our experience. To top it off, the bathrooms have duck-taped doors where the stalls are out of order, it looks terrible and like something you'd see in a gas station washroom, not an "award winning resort". All in all, they seem to be going downhill fast with no care given. Be better Cedar Meadows, you lost a lot of business today. read more

Had to stay in Timmins for a job and was recommended to stay at the Cedar Meadows. The location is somewhat secluded from downtown Timmins, which is great. When I called in the only available rooms were the chalets. Although more expensive than the regular suites, I really had no choice. After reading reviews on the other hotels in the area, this location appeared to be the best. The chalet was big but the shower was really tiny and just a stand up shower. The chalet came complete with a full kitchen and living room, a tv downstairs and another upstairs in the bedroom area. The crazy thing was that the receiver for the cable was downstairs, so to change the tv channel I had to point down the stairs, which was slightly annoying and did not allow one to just relax and sit on the bed for some cable. There was a small workstation area upstairs too with a leather desk chair. The floor was carpet and the chair was too low and it made the workstation very uncomfortable. I also tried the restaurant and I enjoyed the food. The rice was delicious and I ordered the salmon. In my opinion it came slightly overlooked but still tasty. Seeing as Timmina does not have many restaurants, this is considered one of the best locations. Only thing is that if you're staying at the chalet, which is more expensive, you need to walk through a dirt pathway which in rainy occasions is quite muddy. Overall my experience was good at this place but I'm sure that if it were to be compared to other locations in Timmins, this place definitely ranks #1. read more

Totally disagree with that man's ("Jay") awful review. This is Timmins' only decent restaurant. I've been coming here for 10 years now (about 5 to 10 times per year) and never any regrets! Great food, service and had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience!!! Try their nightly features, always something different and unique...they are the only ones in Timmins who serve wild meat like bison and elk. Too bad people go out of their way to try and ruin a perfectly good restaurant's reputation by posting such useless ignorant comments. I know great food, and this restaurant is it!!! read more

Don't bother. The food in the restaurant was ok but the service was painfully slow. At this price range you expect decent service and we ate here more than once during our stay and were disappointed each time. At the time we ate breakfast we were the ONLY people in the restaurant and yet still we had trouble catching the waitress' attention for basic things like a glass of water or coffee refill. The hotel itself is tired and dated, the beds are worn and soft, they use crappy dispensers on the wall for soap/body wash etc not even on par with what you'd find in a Mcdonalds or Walmart restroom (Resort Spa???? Please....). The lobby decor is also in serious need of some updating, they're going to have to sink some money into this place if they plan to compete with the new Holiday Inn Express in town! We had a look at the 'Nordic Bath' and spa facilities and for the money, were not interested. Very basic. read more

I visited here on a work trip, and thought this was an awesome alternative to the hotels I normally frequent. I stayed in one of the chalets, which is like a little 2-level wood cabin. It felt more like a trip to the cottage than to a hotel with the water and wildlife right outside the door. They also have a wildlife tour on the property which was convenient. There is a gym in the main building which was small, but functional. The one thing to be wary about is if it's rainy outside, the walk from the chalet to the main building can get messy/muddy (but if you're visiting Timmins, you're likely already prepared to brave all the elements, lol). The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff was extremely friendly. I found the resort to be very clean. Note: The location is somewhat secluded (which is a plus in my opinion), so keep this in mind if you wanted to be located in the city or if transportation is an issue. My work booked the trip, so I can't really comment on cost, but I would definitely stay there again if I am ever back in Timmins. read more
