FINAL REVIEW: The Senator Hotel, Timmins…read more
DO NOT STAY HERE - UNSAFE, UNSANITARY, AND AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE TO THE HOTEL INDUSTRY
This is the worst hotel experience I've ever had in my life -- and I've stayed in roadside motels that treated me better. I booked The Senator Hotel in Timmins through Booking.com for a long 14-day work rotation (14 days on, 7 days off). I came here to rest and work -- instead, I dealt with disasters, stress, unsafe conditions, and total neglect.
Let's start with the rooms. I had to switch rooms FOUR times because of:
* A bathtub that wouldn't drain at all
* A room with no air conditioning in the middle of hot weather
* A room so far from the router that Wi-Fi didn't even reach
* A room that flooded through the window or ceiling while I was gone for my shift -- I came back to find my luggage soaked and water pouring into the room
* A bathroom faucet handle that literally crumbled in my hand
Every time I reported a serious issue, I was handed a new key with zero care or urgency. No help, no apology, no compensation.
The staff were dismissive, and when I asked to speak to a manager, I was told "only weekdays" or "maybe the weekend" -- no one gave a straight answer. No manager ever showed up. Meanwhile, Booking.com tried calling the hotel over and over, and the staff just refused to answer the phone. I watched it ring in front of them -- they let it go on purpose.
The only refund they offered was for the nights I didn't stay -- but I had to leave first, and they said the refund would go to Booking.com and then to me in 5 to 10 business days. That meant I had no money to go to another hotel unless I was willing to go broke first.
And get this -- their solution? A free room next time. As if I'd ever come back to this disaster.
But the worst part? It's not even safe here. I personally saw homeless people wandering the lobby, waiting outside the gate, and running in when it opened, entering areas that are supposed to be secure. I even saw them walking around the parking lot trying to open car doors. This is a safety risk -- for guests, workers, and anyone who parks their vehicle here.
I was working 10 1/2 hour shifts and coming back to this nightmare every night. I was stressed, tired, and treated like garbage by this place. I've never felt so disrespected, ignored, and unsafe in a hotel.
Summary of my stay:
* 4 room changes
* No AC in one room
* Bathtub wouldn't drain
* Wi-Fi didn't work
* Faucet fell apart
* Room flooded through ceiling/window
* Luggage soaked
* No manager available
* Booking.com ignored
* $1700 refund delayed
* Homeless people entering the hotel and trying to open cars in the lot
Do NOT stay here. This place is unprofessional, unsanitary, unsafe, and completely mismanaged. If you value your safety, your time, or your money -- stay far away.
