Well, we have never been ripped off. Good little market, homemade donuts on sat and sun. Booze beer and wine, what more do you need.

Yes, there was an ownership change about a year ago that changed the way inventory was tracked that affected existing cashiers, but unless you're an employee, it looks the same. It's still a Shell station with a nice market. Louie's is one of two stores in town with an active deli counter. Their deli counter opens early to serve breakfast casseroles and gravy to folks heading into work. The cold case is always well-stocked with grab and go options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and even desserts. They have a good selection of quality meats, which I personally believe rivals the local supermarket. Louie's has a nicely stocked fresh produce section too. The staff behind the deli counter, cashiers, and even those restocking shelves have always been friendly, courteous, and helpful to me over the years I've been coming here. You might wonder why I give Louise five stars. They may not be a Whole Foods or a high-end specialty store, but those stores are in a different category and comparing Louie's to them wouldn't be fare. On their own merits, Louie's is doing a great job of being a small, clean, well-stocked market with convenient business hours.

Just called me "guy" when I was trying to prepay inside. Plenty of other options in town. I realize employee options are few and far between. If you have spent any time at all "Up North" on this side of the state you know that liquor selections are a bit limited especially when it comes to the better stuff. On my initial trip here I was pleasantly surprised to find Wild Turkey Rare Breed (one of my all time favorite Bourbons) and Four Roses single Barrel which is also an excellent Bourbon which I immediately bought. Prices were at the State Minimum which was another huge plus so no Mark Ups here. Yay! I would say this business along with Rogers in Oscoda have the best selection of liquor in the area relative to mid to higher end products. It is definately a business to keep on your short list of go to liquor places in the area realizing that nobody in this area will have a large selection of better liquors that you will readily find in Metro Detroit and you need to adjust your expectations based on that. Having said that, this is one of two best liquor options in the area that sells at state minimum and would suggest you definately check this business out the next time you are near Mikado especially if you have booze on your shopping list.

But when your drink of choice is only Tito's, the drive is worth it. Plus, I'm on vacation and have no agenda so what do care if it's 13 miles. When we pulled up my husband about died when he seen they have a driving range behind the store. How cool is that!!? Upon entering the store I was shocked to see how many items they had. Groceries, and household items, hardware store items and animal feed. Cold beer, pop and grocery items. A small freezer with half gallons of ice cream and convenient foods. A whole isle to chips, snacks and even the Michigan made Kars nuts. I made certain to grab a bag of Kars sun flower seeds- my favorite camping snack! We came here for liquor and they had a TON! Their liquor selection was Huge and the best part- it was State minimum- no jacked up prices here. We grabbed 2 fifths of Tito's- what we came for and a fifth of tequila. Hey- I told you I have no agenda, I'm on a 9 day (much needed) vacation! We grabbed a 24oz bottle of Faygo and a can of Diet Coke for $.99 each plus deposits. My husband also grabbed 10 scratch off lotto tickets- we're hoping to win big to gift our pastor for purchase of a church. We payed for our whole purchase with a credit card no problem. This store was awesome and had everything we needed plus some! The employee was super friendly and wished us a good evening- the man behind us said "how could they not with all the booze". Fun times for certain. What a great market!! Glad we stopped!

I was looking for a steak to throw on the grill and wanted to give this business a try as there are only a handful of markets on this side of the state that specialize in meats. They had all the meats you would expect too see where I settled on a Porterhouse steak based on 1). how the steak looked and 2) price which was very reasonable especially in light of todays inflated meat prices at $12.99 a lb . Upon getting the steak home I was quite pleased with the end product. The meat had an appropriate amount of fat for a Porterhouse, was very tender and just as importantly was very flavorful where the meat was definately a cut above the other grocery stores in the area and on a par with Neiman's which has tad higher prices in my opinion. Based on my initial experience I will definately consider this market in the future where I will be leaning towards a nice Ribeye the next time round. People are friendly and the location just a block off of US23 is very convenient and hard to \beat considering its close proximity to other key business in the area to include Walmarts, coffee shops and assorted restaurants. Nice!!
