Had long stretches of safe trail where could canter safely. Had nice overlooks with high lines and picnic tables. But no railing at over looks. Camping wise they have decent size slots( close together for some of them) and picket lines right behind sites with trails all around. Can bring horse anywhere in camp. They have 1-2 bath houses and the rest are port-a-potty's. Horse wise: nice stables ( 10x 10ft)- my 16h Quarter Horse had plenty of space to move around and lay down. Lots of water access spots at stables. Have some bucket hooks and a hay rack. Stalls are slats so horses can see each other through them. Have access to a nice obstacle course with logs, jumps, steps, curtains, poles, ect.; a round pen; HUGE arena with barrels.- they have events/ shows here often. They will clean out your stall(s) on the last day your are there ( just have to pay $5 extra). They also have wagon trails as well. They are privately owned and a closed trail system but you can get anything from easy to difficult depending on what you want. And any length you want. I will definitely be back whenever i can.

Had to write a review from someone who has been at this course 100's of times over the years. This is a great course kept in good shape. The staff could not be friendlier. The new restaurant "Taverna on the Green" is fantastic. The food is really good. Best Gyro you will find. By the way, I and the person I golf with have eaten at this restaurant dozens of times since they have opened this summer, 2025, happy with every meal. Also, lead a motorcycle club (about 20 people) to the restaurant and we had a great time and everybody was very happy with their meals. 11/25

Not only does a young girl learn to live with other girls in nature, but she learns to live simplisticly and without the worldly distractions and pressures. Morals are instilled. Athletics are taught. And a girl leaves summer camp with an abundance of friends, love for the outdoors, and a sense of being a good, moral person with good sportsmanship, skills and talents. When I went you could go for either 4 or 8 weeks. Because I was 7 or 8 the first summer my parents sent me for 4 weeks thinking that it was a long enough time. Wrong! When the time came to leave I didn't want to go so.....I didn't get on the bus! Miss Dollie called my folks to explain and they let me stay the whole time. It was wonderful! So - what do you learn beside the usual camp activities? Looking back I can honestly say that I learned teamwork, independence, honesty, diligence, compassion, leadership, how to win - and lose - graciously, introspection, spirituality, self-confidence, this list goes on and on. When I had a daughter of my own she also went to Monterey. She now has a daughter and guess who's going when she's old enough? Monterey was founded by a wonderful woman named Dollie Williams. We all called her Miss Dollie. For those of you with sons, do not despair! Miss Dollie had a son - Malcolm - and he founded the boys' camp - Camp Country Lad. It's close to Monterey and is a mirror of Monterey built for boys. I'm older now and the world is a different place. I urge you to consider this opportunity for your daughter. It will definitely make a difference in her life. Be prepared - you may not get the same girl back that you send but what you will get is a wonderful child that will be source of pride and love forever. She will shine!

There is ridge that you have to be careful not to get to close or you will slip and fall. You can follow the trail to the top of the waterfall and its amazing.

Party of four dining out to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday evening. What a total…read moredisappointment! Two of us were planning on having salmon and one of us the catfish dinner. They were out of catfish and only had one order of salmon left. So, one person ordered the salmon. Another ordered the chicken strip basket. Another ordered the grilled chicken breast sandwich. And the other person ordered the grilled chicken breast dinner. Some time after our order the server came out and told us there was only enough chicken breast for the dinner. So, the sandwich order was changed to the chicken strip basket. It took quite a while for us to get our orders and then the server announced that the salmon order had somehow not been placed! While 3 of us had our dinners, the 4th person had nothing, not even salad, until she asked for that while she waited for her dinner. The chicken breast was quite tough and when mentioned to the server, she said "you should have asked for a steak knife"! Not much for apologies and had to pay 12$ for a piece of carrot cake for the birthday boy! It was dark when we left and no lighting on the ramp up to the parking lot and very poor lighting in the lot. An accident waiting to happen!
