In December I was working and the entire sole of my boot came off in the snow. My fav pair of boots from Merrill that I've had for over 10 years. I was heartbroken. Googled boot repair and Cedar Grove Bootery came up so highly recommended that I got my hopes up that these boots could be made wearable again. Well this afternoon I brought my boots to this gentleman (whose name I didn't get). The shop is well organized and of course full of boots! He examined my boots and regretfully told me that as a professional he could not in good faith recommend putting any more money into this pair of boots and that he would recommend buying a new pair. He looked at me so sympathetically-knowing I had an irrational attachment to them. He said he could take my money and repair the boots but they wouldn't last and he wouldn't want to do that kind of work. So I ALMOST asked him to repair them anyway. But when a pro is telling you your boots have died, it really is time to accept that your boots have died. I have tremendous respect for someone who has such high standards that they will turn down work if they know the result won't be up to snuff. I took two pairs of leather shoes here to have their soles replaced and, if I must say, the brown leather shoes were in pretty bad condition. They had been well loved by me and never maintained. When I got them back, they looked great! Water stains had been removed, the soles are new--for as long as I'm in the area, I'm coming here to take care of my nice leather shoes. Leroy is an absolute master! I dropped off a pair of Ferragamo shoes that I bought a few years ago. The rubber sole had begun to separate from the shoe after a year's worth of moderate wear. I brought them back to Ferragamo, to be fixed, but again, the sole began to separate. I brought the shoes to Leroy to have the soles replaced with leather soles, replace the heel, and fixed some worn areas. The shoes are like brand new! I could not be happier with Leo and his staff. I brought 4 pairs of shoes in and all came out as if they were new. I have used the shoe repair guy in upper montclair and he destroy an expensive pair of Alden shoes--the same make and model as the one pictured. Leo has a specific machine that gets the upper front looking store new. I'm going to see if he can fix the pair that the Bellevue guy ruined. I brought a pair of boots here after the zipper broke on them. Leroy tried his best to fix them at a reasonable cost without having to send them out. I appreciated his honesty in that he didn't know for sure if his fix would hold up properly. Unfortunately, his quick fix didn't hold up. I brought them back a week later and he put the cost of his orignal fix towards the cost of sending them out. They were back exactly when he said they would be and fixed perfectly. He's not the friendliest or most talkative guy, but his prices are reasonable and he is honest on whether or not he can fix something. Just a tip - CASH ONLY. read more

Great place to fix shoes. Small shop thats run by one man I believe and he really fixes up your shoes. My dog chewed my Louboutins (almost sent him to the pound after that) and he fixed them up pretty well! They are in like 80% good condition now, enough to wear on a night out without people noticing they were ruined, but this was the best he could do and I was more than please.
