At this site in southern Greenville County the Reedy River widens to over 200 feet cascading over rocks and boulders to create one of the most geologically significant vistas on the river. The site dates back to the early 1800s when it housed an industry and an electric generating plant. The site has been developed into a passive park with trails, picnic groves, historic interpretative signs and a playground. Cedar Falls Park is a great spot to come out and relax. Its located on over 90 acres and has access to Reedy River with well maintained trails. Also, dogs are allowed! You can still see parts of the old mill and dam which adds a lot of character to the park.

It's a really pretty park, and very enjoyable, I really enjoyed it. Kind of out of the way unless you live in the area.

Great hiking trail. Just watch for snakes in the water and on the trails. Park is great for kids too.

It's not the expansive Liberty Bridge that is most commonly associated with the Reedy River downtown, but it is a convenient and heavily foot-trafficked crossing just up the river that many people recognize. It's located parallel to Main Street and can be accessed by stairs on either side. The bright green bridge connects with the Swamp Rabbit Trail on one side and the sidewalks that go through the Wyche Pavilion and Peace Center amphitheater on the other. The bridge crosses over the Reedy right where there are concrete structures, looking somewhat like a dam, that are part of an old railroad trestle. The water spills over here providing lots of white noise, especially in combination with the other nearby water features and wall fountains.

This bridge was an educational experience for me. But not until the first time I finally paused to…read moretake in the signage. Eugenia Duke began her path to fame in 1917 by making sandwiches in her home kitchen to sell to the army during WWI. Her sandwiches were good but it was all about the Mayo. Years later at the urging the of those soldiers, she began bottling it in 1923. Knowing this makes me an even bigger fan of Duke's mayonnaise. Oh, wait. The icon bridge is pretty cool, too.

This had and still has major potential. The concept is refreshing, the idea is intriguing, the…read morestaff is friendly... But the execution is lackluster, especially for the price you pay. General admissions is $20. For an extra $18, you can skip the line. I'm still iffy about whether the $18 was worth it, but it was either an extra $18 or a 2 hour wait. Unfortunately, the current Zombie Outbreak isn't worth the $18 or the 2 hour wait. They intentionally never quite explain what's included in the admissions price, just that their website harks it as SC'S #1 haunted trail. The haunted trail, if you can even call it that, is short and spectacularly unspooky. The trail is also going through an identity crisis as to whether its actually a trail... Because the majority of it is hardly a trail. Think of the serpentine single lines you're forced to zig zag your way through at an airport security check area or the entrance to Disney World. I hate those lines, because whether there's 1 person in front of you or 100 people in front of you, you have to start at the beginning and zig zag your way to the front. It's a pain in the butt. That's the 'trail', except you're zig zaging through a bunch of tall wooden panels they haphazardly set up. - There's constantly loud banging behind the wooden panels, which adds to the headache. Constant banging does not equal scary. If anything, I think the entire wooden panel portion should have been silent. Since the wooden panels are already so tall, every unknown turn would have had the customers scaring themselves... However, with the way the actors were constantly announcing themselves, we already knew there was someone on the other side and were even able to identify by the sounds their exact proximity. - Which leads to the second point: Because the trail was so short, there wasn't really an opportunity to develop that element of suspense. - They should capitalize on creating an eerie atmosphere. Party City quality props just don't cut it. The skulls looked fake. I know real skulls would be slightly morbid, but realistic props go a long way (realistic skulls, pleeeease?). - They should have used the dimly lit areas to their full potential. The dimly areas were pretty much left to itself. Please, I can't scare myself. Dimly lit areas are perfect places for someone to stand behind a bush and rustling it as people walked by. This is also a perfect place to have a creepy laugh suddenly echo through the silence (and this could totally be triggered by a sensor). I'd even recommend having someone dressed as Freddie or Jason jump out, but that may be a little too daring for what the Greenville Zombie Outbreak can handle. - They clearly had a fog machine, but it was placed right at the exit. Yo, fog up an area of the trail, instead (after all, the wooden panels will guide them through). Honestly there weren't that many people waiting in line. It's just that they organized it so only 6 people go in at a time. The next group doesn't go in until the previous group is done. I was a little confused at first as to why they weren't just queuing people up and letting them go in at certain intervals. The answer was the zombie shoot. They really wanted to keep the zombie shoot/antidote mission a surprise, almost a little too desperately. I contemplated whether I should reveal the zombie shoot portion, and in the end, I have decided not to talk specifics. However, to say I was absolutely disappointed would be an understatement. The zombie shoot should have been throughout the entire trail, not just confined in a small area. And it's because the first group needed to complete the zombie shoot before the next group could enter that the wait was so long. If anyone is wondering, yes, my group found the antidote. There was nothing exciting about finding it. :( I really, really wanted to love the Zombie Outbreak, but I just wasn't scared. At all. As the current Halloween season is over, it won't be until next Halloween that they will open their doors. I will definitely be revisiting this place next Halloween. I hope that next year I can feel my adrenaline pump in fear. Fingers crossed!

As I entered, the man at the ticket booth stated their general rule: "The actors won't touch you unless you touch them." Next, he walked along a lighted trail; I assumed the period following the brief introduction would be very cheap, until he left us and all lights were cut. Then, the trail became truly scary. With this being said, I would not recommend this attraction for those with heart conditions or very young minors (or individuals afraid of "realistic" zombies)*. *Other attractions generally include actors attempting to intimidate customers from a distance.
